Says it's a grinder in the title, but the part number matches the siphon, and a review quote notes that it's for the full kit at a great price. Otherwise it looks to be well over $100.

Do I need this? No. But it looks very cool, I like coffee and I reckon it's a bargain.

  • Wont last long with my kids
    But bought

  • Aside from the lighter fuel and wick. Is there anything else I'd need to replenish overtime?

    • filter paper?

    • Coffee.

      Friends that drink coffee

Nope, just the fuel and wick (but I've used mine monthly or so for a couple of years and haven't needed to replace the wick yet).

Bought one of these for $57.76 a month ago (aka the Hario bonanza). Not used it yet. It's https://global.hario.com/product/coffee/syphon/MCA.html

Is there a way to use this as a bong? I see it but just can't quite grasp it

    • +6

Came for the bong comments, did not disappoint

can def smoke some shard out of it

that was my comment on that listing haha. Its a great gadget. Just use metho as the fuel. Creates a more favourful coffee than the pour over. I wash the filter and reuse it a few times

Not sure if should brew coffee or smoke weed with it.

    Nice looking kerosene lamp.

Why do I feel like this is just disguised drug paraphernalia

  • Does anyone remember the $3 price error siphon? (I believe it might have been on Alternative Brewing)

Couldnt find the link to reminisce…would have been cool if that one was honoured! lol

(I swear I ordered one, and was refunded…but couldn't find it in my email. Must have used a throwaway email!)

  • It's a fun brew method, I've had one for a couple of years. I don't break it out often but when I want a more involved process I will. If you end up enjoying it, a variable burner is the main upgrade you'll want to do - the stock one is a bit brute force about its heating and will likely overheat your water.

Fantastic deal and a great way to make coffee. Recommend getting a micro burner, something like this, to replace the methane burner as it is too slow.

  • Looks like a fun way to make coffee, but cleaning it would get old very quickly.

  • Great product, i use this to make crack. Highly recommended

  • Thumbnail took me to breaking bad

  • So it's like a glass moka pot? Can I put it on the stove?

    • If you look closely at the bottom, you will see that there is an alcohol fueled fire maker that heats the suspended glass elements

just seems like a Moka Pot with extra steps

Very nice for a long black during afternoon tea. I bought an older copy of the Hario TCA-3 when I couldn't get it here. I have to say, I paid not much less than the price of the original MCA-3 here. So tempted to buy this, but I already have a usable one.

I don't like the wick and alcohol burner. Instead, I use a butane burner: https://alternativebrewing.com.au/products/elegance-micro-bu…

  • Thanks op. Was just looking to replace my siphon kit today. Had use the siphon equipment to brew tea leaves as well, tea taste almost as good as the flavour profile like the chicha sanchen bubble tea do with their pressurised extraction.

  • I could open a Gundam Cafe with all these Amazon JP deals lately. Loving it.
