How do they get W11 on it when W11 needs 8th gen and beyond?

What happens if I replace the drive and do a clean install? Will it activate?

    • You can clone your SSD.

      • What if the original SSD fails before cloning?

        • Clone it before the 1 year warranty expires.

Use software to find windows OS key or link to a Microsoft account

I use EaseUS Todo Backup Home to do a system backup.

Its trivial to patch out the 8th gen check, but now obviously you don't have a TPM and thus your system isn't really supported by Microsoft.

How do they get W11 on it when W11 needs 8th gen and beyond?

Use a USB boot media made with RUFUS, select the option "Remove requirement for 4GB+ RAM, Secure Boot and TPM 2.0" ;)

Also, I moved an SSD from a newer machine where Win-11 was installed to an old 6th-gen one. No complaints from Windows.

I highly recommend doing a fresh install for a different system for the OS drive. Windows installs drivers for components you have in a computer on the OS storage drive so when you move the OS storage drive, those drivers don't match up, and they also possibly don't uninstall themselves either, which in turn can cause conflicts, BSOD, errors, instability, etc.

I recently did a fresh install on a new SSD in a HP all-in-one PC… With an Intel i5-3570 (3rd Gen). I downloaded the windows 11 USB install from Microsoft, and it installed and activated without issue - no patching required.

Why are the DVD Drives never included in these PCs? Where am I supposed to place my coffee cup?
