    Great price. Good Deal Instructions👍

Are you planning on wearing this around town in Brisbane. Nice & sunny today🌞

Have the Fairydown precursor that Macpac Halo is based on. (Fairydown Outdoor owned Macpac then, so Macpac copied the design.)
15 years old & Macpac staff consider it is better. Has higher down fill, so warmer. But no hood - don't like them for hiking mountains. Only gets occasional use on travels to cold places.

  • differences between v1 and v2?

  • Thanks for the free membership….!!!

Don't forget 5% discount BCF gift cards through NRMA Blue.
    https://benefits.mynrma.com.au/en/d/discounts/shopping-and-l…

    • +3

Same 5% discount but you can buy exact custom amount with Macquarie Bank's gift card marketplace.

However, you might get extra points by paying by your credit card with NRMA.

      • That's an oxymoron though, Macquarie close accounts and seize money if you spend more than a few thousand on gift cards through their in-app discount platform. Had to go through a long hostile resolution with AFCA to get my money back. My friends had the same experience.

        • Interesting! I bought about $1,900 worth of mainly Woolies (in chunks of $200-300 each) and JB gift card ~$700 and a few BCF without any issue.

          • @Bargain Fighter: You're right near the edge. I spent about 5500 in total and my account was closed without explanation. Horrible experience.

            • +1

@ben5000: I guess if you just use it for gift cards, it might trigger their money-laundering alarm.

I'm also using it as my semi-transactional account. I do always have a few thousands in it and use it for some direct-debit services. Prolly this makes the difference.

  • Great price, especially during the middle of winter! Thanks.

  • I have had the ozb classic Macpac halo for about 5 years now.

It's always done the job, but I've also been underwhelmed by it and don't find it especially warm. Any suggestions for alternatives that are warmer/have higher down content?

    • You just can’t go wrong with anything The North Face. And you’ll look way more stylish

    • That Katmandu puffer which everyone wears is super warm. Usually on special for 150. Had mine for 4 years and it's still 98% good. Only issue is the down is slowly coming out occasionally.

      • dats normal.

    • REALLY? It's thick AF and great even for Tassie winters. Where do you live?

I just palmed it off to my dad (who never buys anything and says 'dreaming' to ANY price for ANYthing.). He likes it when it's free and when I pretended to throw it out.

V2 of this jacket doesn't inspire confidence though.

      • I'm in Sydney and find that it's not warm enough even with double wool sweaters beneath! I'm also more sensitive to the cold though, I think.

What did you replace yours with?

        • I was waiting to replace it with the same hence waiting for a deal! I didn't really need a replacement but thought that dad might enjoy a bit of warmth as well despite him being a tightass.

Dude you must be a cold soul for the halo to be too cold in Sydney!!? You should get yourself checked at the doctors just in case.

  • Is this the V1 or V2?

    • I also want to know, there is a listing without v2 part, is it really v1

    • I ordered the ladies one.. it was V2

      • Women's Halo Hooded Down Jacket V2
      • Even the photos look lower quality. Maybe it's bias on my part now that I know the story.

        • the jacket is much lighter than before - not sure if I should call it improvement or lower quality

  • Great post .

So, the coupon can only be used once, per member, right?

I kept missing previous deals, so now is the time :-)

      • Do you remember the sizing ?

eg. are they comparable to Icebreaker sizes?

  • +3

Good grief, I just bought one of these about two hours ago for $129 via the other posted deal!

    • Same !! Not sure if I can cancel it.

      • +1

I'm glad I was sleeping when the other post was posted.

      • That would be nice since it surely hasn't shipped yet, but I can't see any simple way to do it.. They can be returned in store but that seems a bit over the top, I think I'd better just suck it up

      • Buy again and return the other order.

  • I've got one. It's super warm for me.

  • Why is it called Down ?

    • What's Up?

    • +4

"The down of birds is a layer of fine feathers found under the tougher exterior feathers. Very young birds are clad only in down" ~wikipedia on Down feather

    • DOWN DOWN PRICES ARE DOWN.

Bought the women's version for the missus. She is from Kathmandu. I hope she appreciates it.

    • +2

Same here. She is from Adelaide. I don't hope much appreciation because its part of my "job" to monitor n buy these things ;)

  • +4

Code not working for me - new user

  • Can anyone comment on whether the hooded or non hooded version is better for general wear?

I just can’t imagine walking around with a hood on.

    • You don't walk around with the hood on. You unzip the hood only when it's raining heavy enough to be a bother.

Light rain you just cop it

      • can we unzip the hood?

        • I meant open the hood. The hood folds into the collar and covered by velcro

  • How does this compare to a Patagonia Nano Puff or North Face Ecoball?

    • Looking for same, How does it compares to Northface Thermoball ?

    • I thought Patagonia is like $500 big bux.

      • About $330-350 on Amazon

        • Better be x3.5 times better. :)

    Discount code not working 😞

  • I hate down clothing. Feathers always start coming out after first wash.

    • +1

Even handwash? I've always been told not to machine wash down jackets.

      • +2

yes. but also cbf buying clothes that need to be only handwashed.

Hope this useful another 10% off, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/786296

    • Can you stack two gift vouchers in one transaction?

  • I was able to use the coupon as a new member and gift card.

    • can you do split payment with gift card + cc or paypal? thanks

      • +1

Yes, I did 1 GC + CC but I saw an option for PayPal as well.

  • I got one for $99 around March last year. Keeps me warm, but then I also have a hooded jumper on underneath for extra comfort. I've also worn it across the summer period (hate freezing cold public transport!).

Its seen better days, I developed a rip on the seam at the neck of the hood, didn’t realise it until I saw the feathers float out. I've also worn out one of the zip pockets. But I'd happily buy another jacket when this one needs to be retired.

    • Are you waiting for the whole bird to fly away, before replacing it?

      • +2

Well the rip on the seam was sewn up quickly, and the hood itself is still very puffy. I'd look into getting a replacement jacket once the other zip for the other pocket fails.

People are right about quality of such items not being what they used to be. Several years ago I purchased a fleece jacket from Kathmandu, the main zip failed within months - luckily I could still wear the jacket as a jumper (just had to slide it on instead of zip it up haha). But it certainly was not worth the $$$ it was originally priced as (and I was still smarting that it was $60 wasted).

        • DUUUUDE, Did you pay RRP for Kathmandu? Never do that.

  • +1

Deal is still working. To get the code to work add something else eg https://www.bcf.com.au/p/campfire-scraper-2-pack/628958.html apply the coupon, edit cart and remove it.

  • +4

Deal is still working since 10am.

It was a blessing in disguised as I tried to buy it for $110 all morning but it didn't accept the $20 voucher. Now that we could buy the $50 Super gift card with 10% CB, I bought 2 (individually) and used them just 5 minutes ago. Saved another $10 making the jacket $100.

    Thanks doweyy and fishandchips.

    • thanks, where did you get 10% CB? I only found nrma blue which gave 5%

      • +2

Cashrewards offering $50 Super gift cards today with 10% cashback. I bought 2 individually with both $5 tracked immediately.

    • +1

      Can you use 2 online?

      • +1

I just used two to purchase. The website says maximum of 3 instore and online.

  • +1

Can confirm, deal still active, don't need any tricks, just add to cart and add coupon.

  • +1

Rebel sell some of these too, got the uber light jacket ($109 and $15 off with those tcn gift cards).. $95.

Just noticed they have been reduced to $99 now - may be of use for people not wanting something too hot depending where you live, but they are great and light.

    https://www.rebelsport.com.au/p/macpac-mens-uber-light-down-…

    • Uber light jacket is also the same price $99 at BCF.

I heard Uber light jacket supposes to be less warmth, but why the listing says it's 650 loft versus 600 loft of Halo one?

      • It's warm without the bulk. I didn't want anything over the top, and will get more use out of it (Qld).

Best you try both on I guess.

      • PS. It's not a snow jacket but more than warm enough for winter in Bne and Syd.

  • +1

Which washing detergent do you all use for these jackets? I’ve read normal detergent is no good for the filling.

  • +3

My current macpac halo hooded is size XS but there doesn't seem to be XS available now. Has the sizing changed or are they just OOS of the XS?

  • Unfortunately, my size is not available!

  • -7

$110 for a bloody jacket! Are you kidding me?! That ain't a deal even with the $20 off. You can get better quality jackets at Kathmandu for a better price!

    • Was $299.
Lol the Katmandu equivalent was $120 anyway.
Maybe try anaconda, they can have heavy reductions in summer
