Belkin BoostCharge Pro 4 Port GaN Charger 108W $74 C&C/ in-Store Only @ The Good Guys (Limited Stores)

1290

I got myself one of these, works well.
Charges iPhone and Surface Pro via USB C pretty quick due to USB C PD but the USB A is just boring 5v. No QC.

Normally $129, $74 at The Good Guys no idea when it ends.

JB has a Black one for $99 - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/belkin-boostcharge-pro-4-…

Same price on their commercial site and was 91 on the commercial site before so not bad!

  • got this. works well. the USB A is fine for charging watches and older equipment that doesn't support fast charging.

It's handy on holidays with the cord being removable but letting you place conveniently with an adaptor on the AUS plug.

    • Do you use it to charge laptops? Is it noisy then?
      Thanks

      • it charges my laptop that only needs 45W, and my phone at 20W and I've never hear noise from the unit.

it is a bit bigger than a hymix GAN charger with same ports I have

        • how do check how many watts needed?

          • +1

@capslock janitor: Check what charger came with your laptop. Sometimes the manufacturer overspecs the charger a bit. Otherwise check your laptop manual.

      • Got one. Very quiet. I only used 3 ports, 1 for laptop, 1 for iPhone 14 pro and 1 for a video light via USB - works well. Never had a problem like another one I had before.

    • +1

That’s what I’m after. A small block with an extension figure 8 cable so I can just swap the cable for different countries and use mini cables to charges the various devices

I think satechi has some pretty small units but no extension cable design

  • +3

Got this for work. Can’t complain does the job. If I were to pay I would just anker to be honest.

    • +1

Which anker model is comparable? I don't want 65W and wish they sold their other models in Aus.

      • Yup, wanted to get the anker but the higher W versions are not selling in Aus means no AU plug and voltage sadly

    • does your work provide it or reimburse it. Every time I ask for reimbursement I get certain looks from my manager. and I am buying the cheapest things like 20 bucks for a keyboard or mouse. its not expensive.

      • +4

they put through the purchasing order and was on the table the following week. The amount of money to blow on useless training and consultants to tell managers how to do their job is 1000x times the price of this.

        • -1

What if his manager’s 1000x more important than him?

          • +7

@AlexF: no one is 1000x more important than anyone

          • @AlexF: Spoken like a true manager

    • No Anker multi charger in this form factor does 65w

Holy crap it was hard to find the specs on outputs, so here it is for you all,

    Single USB-C port output:

    5V / 3A / 15W
    9V / 3A / 27W
    15V / 3A / 45W
    20.5V / 4.7A / 96.35W

    USB-C multi-port output:

    USB-C1:
    5V / 3A / 15W
    9V / 3A / 27W
    15V / 3A / 45W
    20V / 3.25A / 65W
    20.5V / 4.7A / 96.35W

    USB-C2:
    5V / 3A / 15W
    9V / 2A / 18W
    15V / 2.A / 30W
    20V / 1.5A / 30W

    • If I read the website correctly the ouput will never push out 96W if the other USB-C port is in use.
      https://www.belkin.com/au/4-port-gan-charger-108w/P-WCH010.h…

      • +4

It'll drop the USB-C1 port to 65w and 30w on UCB-C2, from what I'm reading.

        • USB-C multi-port output:
          USB-C1:
          5V / 3A / 15W
          9V / 3A / 27W
          15V / 3A / 45W
          20V / 3.25A / 65W
          20.5V / 4.7A / 96.35W

          • +1

@yojabbajabba: Yep I see what you mean. That was a copy-paste straight from the Belkin website, so not very good info.

  • Good price. Not very light. No PPS. No whine. Ozbargin will love this, but I prefer using the Heymix 100w Gan instead

    • +1

Do you have link to the heymix one you have? Is it better?

      • +2

        https://heymix.com.au/collections/gan-tech/products/heymix-n… often drops to $75.

Note somehow Heymix has a reputation for causing fires on Ozbargain.

There's a similar zyron one which doesn't have the fire reputation. https://zyrontech.com.au/collections/gan-charger/products/po…

        • I bet Zyron & Heymix get theirs from the same supplier really, if someone was concerned about the fire risk of Heymix chargers that's something to keep in mind

          • +3

@brosk1s: Same factory doesn't mean the same quality.

            • @tukanglistrik: And here comes the Zyron squad to defend their reputation again.

I'm more than happy to be corrected if you do disassemble equivalent models from both brands and don't find the same design with equivalent components inside, just in a slightly different outer case.

              • +5

@brosk1s: Nope, if you searched my past comments I had my fair share of arguments with Zyron, which also claims that their products were made in the same factory as Belkin, and hence my comment above.

Factories in China (or anywhere in the world) can build anything to anyone's specification, including component quality and QC level. Even with the same components and design, fault tolerance may differ, so you can order products with e.g. 80%, 95% or 99% reliability. Higher reliability requires more rigorous testing and that what makes products from reputable brands more expensive and less likely to fail.

I believe Zyron is a bit better than Heymix but still doesn't mean I would defend or buy them. My favourite is Anker, I posted quite a few of their deals. I would get this Belkin if it had PPS but sadly they're generally Apple centric and doesn't care about other brands needs, e.g. Samsung.

                • +1

                  @tukanglistrik:

so you can order products with e.g. 80%, 95% or 99% reliability

You can also order 95% reliability but only receive 80% unless you're militant about testing and compliance. A common problem with new companies is that they just assume their China factory production will make what they asked for with no shortcuts or deviation.

Belkin vs no name HeyMax charger…

      • Heymix of course…as excuse to buy new gadgets.

    • +1

I haven’t bought heymix but one experience of a skin burning hot zyron charger sent me back to the big brands

Very happy with my Belkin even thought it cost more

  • Looking for 1-2 port chargers, any recommendations?

  • -2

    No international adapter though

    • +1

You can use your own power cable

    • It’s a charger. Since when do you ever get an international adapter with a charger?

    • Just buy a local figure 8 cable when you landed. Not hard.

  • Damn, I just got a couple of 100w ugreen desk chargers from China for the same price

    • Link please?

      • From taobao via a freight forwarder pandabuy

    • Thanks to your comment, I just realised that it's now available in Amazon AU. It does support PPS unlike the Belkin. Now I'm just waiting for it to go on sale…

  • +2

Few reports of coil whine on previous deals for low power devices. I think it's worth reading the previous deals for this charger.

With those caveats in mind, this is a decent deal for a multiport charger from a reputable brand.

    • +1

I have this and while I’m happy enough with it I do get intermittent whine.

  • Can this charge iPad pro and iPhone 14 pro at same time?
Sorry don't know much about these things

    • +1

It’ll charge them both at full speed simultaneously.

      • Thank you

    • +1

it charges my 2 ipads, 1 macbook pro and iphone at the same time.

  • +8

FYI, if anyone wants to use this with multiple devices USB-C, especially high power devices (e.g., for pass through power for a USB-C dock), you should know that the main USB-C port will cut out for a short amount of time while it renegotiates from 100W to 65W PD output if a second USB-C device is connected.

When I was using this, it would mean my monitor output would stop working momentarily, but this depends on the dock itself as well. It was pretty annoying.

    • +2

Yea it’s quite common in these types of chargers. The Ankers do it and so do a few of the other brands

    • +2

I've yet to find a GaN charger that doesn't do this.

  • Damn, only pick-up in Bayswater showing for me in Melbourne, no option for delivery.

Officeworks doesn’t show nearby stores with stock and can’t contact call centre until weekdays to request price beat.
    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/belkin-108…

    Amazon currently $97.90.

ARE GAN CHARGERS THE BEST VERSATILE?

  • Local Goodguys out of stock, was able to price match JB to buy with gift cards from previous deals.

  • If you can get a travel adapter this is the ultimate overseas charging device for multiple devices. I used it last year across Europe and worked flawlessly.

    • Find a figure 8 cable.

      • Why

        • +3

Adapters are sometimes finicky and work loose. Averell proposes a figure 8 cable for the destination country presumably to avoid the extra connection.

Personally I'd buy an aussie plugboard with a destination country plug. Aldi have previously sold such boards with multiple different plugs for travel.

  • +1

Took me a while but finally found the weight.. Half a KG

    • +3

      (profanity) hell that's heavy

    • It’s actually 349 grams. Which lands it in the middle weight class.

For comparison, Zyron 120w is 260 grams on lighter side or Heymix 120w is 420 grams on heavier side.

      • I saw 490g

        • +1

Bought it and weighed it myself, brick alone is 328g, so you saw wrong.

  • Does anyone know if this supports the full 45w on the s23 ultra? My 65w laptop charger only charges it at 15w.

    • +5

I would stick with the 15w - the slower you charge the battery, the longer it's lifespan.

    • +2

      No PPS, so no…

    • +1

No it doesn't. At least not s22 ultra. Doesn't show up as super fast charging 2.0.

  • OOS everywhere?
