  • I know some of these can be a hit and miss.

Do you know if this works on a 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport?

  • Bought this about a month ago when it was on sale. I find it very hard to switch between Apple Car play and Android Auto after pairing both an iPhone and Android

For some reason it still shows the Apple Car Play on the screen even though the iPhone's Bluetooth is off.

    • Sorry meant to reply to you, my reply below.

  • +2

CarPlay normally uses Bluetooth to start the WiFi connection. Turning off Bluetooth often won’t disconnect an iPhone from wireless CarPlay.

    You need to kick both.

    • You're right! I read the instructions again after I wrote that comment and realised it works on wifi.

  • Have been using this for the last month. Works really well.

    • Second this. Android user with pioneer head units.

I even take it between car to car depending on which car i drive and still works flawlessly

  • Another happy user here - I've had a couple different versions and they've worked with a Corolla, Mazda 3, and ATTO 3.

Just a heads up that Carlinkit initially dodge support because you "didn't buy direct from us" (they'll tell you to go talk to the other retailer), but then out of the goodness of their hearts/profits, they do provide some support.

(I had an issue with my phone not trusting the wireless connection, but connecting with a lightning cable re-enabled the trust prompt, and wireless has been fine after that)

  • Bought the last deal and it works great in my Audi.

  • Weird, everyone says this works well, but for me it often has audio dropouts and occasionally completely drops the entire AA connection :/

    • Try a different cable. If no good then return it.

  • Bought the last deal and it doesn't work with a 2022 Mitsubishi outlander

    • Most 2022 Outlanders already have wireless carplay.

  • I bought this model from Carlinkit Official Store on Alliexpress. It's pretty good as long as the car has a wired apple carplay or android auto, it will work. It's also quick and easy to connect to the phone.

  • My car only supports Apple Carplay and not Android Auto. Will this device allow me to use Android Auto with my car?

I know there are some devices which run Android auto through Carplay somehow. Not sure if this is one of them.

    • No it's for the connection only.

    • I recently bought a Hyundai that only had AC and was able to find a firmware update that enabled both. May work for Kia, May be similar options for other makes.

  • Thanks. Been wanting to get one of these for my car since I put a wireless aa head unit in my wife's car.

Was going to run the anonymous AliExpress gauntlet for ~$50 but for a smidge more this should work better

  • Bought one of these. Works great but sometimes my phone takes 10 minutes to connect (Android Auto).

  • Can't use code it gives an error:

Says: Spend US $148.19 to use this coupon

    • I think you need to be in australian dollars for the currency

      • Thank you. It worked for me.

  • Anyone use this with just Apple CarPlay how long does it take to connect? Does it drop out or anything? does it work like wired CarPlay?

  • +1

I bought this in the last deal:

It works well with iPhones on a 2021 Kia Sorento.
Connection is fairly fast. Something like 20 seconds. It doesn’t feel like we are sitting and waiting. Turn on ignition before you put your seatbelt on and you use up a good chunk of that boot time.

I have 2 iPhones connected. It will connect to the phone it finds automatically. If there are 2 phones in the car, you can choose which one to connect at startup. If you don’t make a choice, it picks one for you.

There is a slight lag (1 second?) compared to a wired connection. So you hit “skip track” and it doesn’t change straight away.

Google maps and Waze both work well.

  • Bought this a2a ver. Few months ago.

Didn't work at all with my RAV4 2023.
Bluetooth keeps disconnecting. Tried everything under the sun. Should have returned it.

On other hand also bought Motorola ma1. For wifes car , works flawlessly. Both pixel 7a.

So either it's the car or carlinkit.

Not sure if mine was dud

    • Logical thing to do is to try your a2a in your wife's car and vice versa with ma1 in yours.

    • Hey, seeing your post inspired me to have another look today with my 2023 RAV4 Cruiser. I have it working for the most part now. For me, the process looks like this:
      1. The car turns on and the head unit boots up (The Carlink light is blue at this stage).
      2. After about 20 seconds I get a "AA Session Failed" popup on the head unit (Now the light on the carlink turns red).
      3. The light goes back to blue for about 5 seconds, then turns green.
      4. After turning green, if I then go into the settings on the head unit, into bluetooth settings, select my phone, and press "Connect" (with Use for AA turned on), it'll run AA Wirelessly.
So overall, it is working, it just takes a bit of time to all connect and boot up, and there is the manual step of pressing "Connect" to get it going.

  • Price is $148.19

    • Add to cart, go to cart, go to payment method (Credit Card - requires making an account immediately, or PayPal automatically makes an account using your PayPal email account and shows you a generated password after the transaction is complete) then return to final payment screen, input code, untick insurance. Becomes $68.xx. Complete transaction. It then confirmed and showed me a generated password for an account using my PayPal email address and gave me the option to change it.

      • Thanks for the tip.
It worked and it's on it way.
        Cheers

  • Anyone could share some experience using this with wide car screen? My car is Haval H6 and its screen is wider than 16:9.

    • Works on Kia Sorento with wide screen. I can’t speak for android auto, but CarPlay fills the screen of the Kia whether you use wired CarPlay or this device.

      • And the display is still in the correct ratio?

  • So what's the advantage of this wireless over wired? Someone please help sell it to me plz - I know I need it but don't know why lol

    • No wire.

      Slower startup, minor delay

  • Both AA and CP can't have phone audio on my Subaru. Still have to connect the phone to the cars BT for phone calls at the same time with this Carlinkit, which is weird.

    • Both AA and CP use both Bluetooth and WiFi. These adapters only do the WiFi part. That's just how it is for all similar adapters.

On a related note, recent high speed and longer distance Bluetooth devices use WiFi for the high speed and long distance. The two protocols work together.

  • I use this for my 2016 VW golf. Surprisingly, it works incredibly well. My USB port activates when my car is unlocked, so my phone connects before I even hop in. No delays in connection time, audio syncing, or input lag. Also - it's tiny.

I'm a very picky customer, and I have zero complaints so far. 10/10 would recommend

Side note: you'll need to deactivate your VPN for this to work.

  • Have to say I'm very impressed with this.

I was a kickstarter for AAWireless and wanted nothing more than for it to work. The developer essentially invented this type of device, it's a one-man show/home-brew success story.

I'd purchased other apps from him which were great. But I just couldn't get the hardware to work. Heaps of trouble getting a connection, and heaps of trouble maintaining it.

The Carlinkit was completely painless, has worked 99% of the time. Occassional glitches and disconnections, but very rare and I think it's standard for wireless AA.

  • Bought one of these in the last deal, Android user, S22U. Connected to a Pioneer Android Auto after market (Double din) head unit in a 2002 Subaru Forester and works perfectly.

    • @quacker
      That's interesting 🤔
The description says it won't work with aftermarket Android Auto.
I might give it a go even though my aftermarket head unit is not a Pioneer.

  • Do these also charge the phone wirelessly?

    • No

  • Also bought this last time round and it's been working well for us.

Would, however, now prefer a CarPlay AI Box - any chance of a deal on Carlinkit's AI Box model, rep?

  • Thanks, ordered one.

  • Will not power on when connected to VW T-Cross. Status light does not come on at all. I though it was DOA but when I connected it to powerbank it came on. Could it be that the T-cross USB port has not got enough juice? I might have to send it back for refund.
