Diablo II: Resurrected is fantastic, have gotten hundreds and hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of it so far, expect ill be playing and replaying it for years to come, just like the OG Diablo II :)

    • +2

Nice, I just finished Diablo 1 last night so keen to jump into Resurrected. Glad you've had fun with it!

Give median xl a shot if you're after a D2-adjacent experience. It's D2 but with reimagined but very compatible skills/styling and exceptional balance.

There is also piles of endgame content with a very minimal amount of repetitive grind (unless you really did want to kill every boss)

This is my first time playing the series so will keep it vanilla for now, but will keep this one in mind.

          Looks really well made!

    • Controller or mouse/keyboard?

This is my main concern with getting console version.

      • +4

I have preferred controller by far, playing on couch, comfortable, no rsi, bigger screen, bigger speakers, it’s great. Spent a LOT of hours playing OG Diablo II on pc with KB&M over the last 20 years and it would always end up hurting my wrist.

      • +3

I mostly play D4 on the steam deck, I find the controller style play a lot better than mouse and keyboard.

  • +2

Urgh shame the d3 necromancer dlc is not included in the sale..

    • +2

It's included in the Eternal Collection, assuming you have the Ultimate Evil edition?

  • D4 deal when :’)

  • +8

Thanks OP. I used to play D2 with my ex (the one that got away), so I am hoping with the gift of D2 R I can rekindle the flame.

  • Would experienced Diablo players recommend this bundle as an entry-point to the series? Or go straight for Diablo 4?

I typically like to start earlier in a series, but I find some game series can become more accessible with later additions (e.g Dark Souls 3 being an easier entry-point than Demon’s Souls or DS1/DS2)

I have a few thousand hours in each game.
They are 2 very different games, diablo 2 doesn't have much handholding and you can spend x hundred hours farming for an upgrade. In diablo 3 you can gear up and test out different specs within a session.
If you want more of a challenge and to learn the lore start with d2r.
If you want to play a top down arpg and murder giant packs of mobs play D3.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like both are worth grabbing, so will go that way.

I finished DIV earlier today on PS5 - I have enjoyed it a lot. I have the OG DII & DIII for PC but I haven't played them again since I've finished them. I might grab the Prime Collection with all those extension packs to play on PS5. Thanks OP!

  • Sorry OP, good job with the title, but confused. What does this actually include:

Diablo III: EC/Diablo: Prime Evil Collection (Includes D2R & D3EC)

    • +1

Sorry, thought the "ea" (each) after the price would help, but agree it's still a bit messy!

Diablo III EC (Eternal Collection) is just Diablo III with the expansion, Prime Evil Collection Includes that, a couple of DLC for Diablo 3, and Diablo 2.

They're both the same price which might make it more confusing, but Prime Evil is much better value if you don't have either game.

      • So Prime Evil includes Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 bae games as well?

        • +1

          Yep.

The Diablo® Prime Evil Collection includes:
          - Diablo® III: Eternal Collection game
          - Diablo® II: Resurrected™ game
          - Diablo® III: Hatred’s Grasp Wings DLC
          - Diablo® III: Mephisto Pet DLC

@mangobango: I just purchased the Prime Evil Collection, and it's showing that the Diablo III: Rise of the Necromancer is included in my purchased!?
I'll double check after I download all of it tonight.

            • +1

@Matrix6: Ohhh interesting, I just checked the wiki and you're right, it's part of the eternal collection:

Diablo III: Eternal Collection, combining Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer, was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in June 2017, and for the Nintendo Switch in November 2018.

              • @mangobango: Well this is super confusing.. I definitely have the Eternal Edition (it shows on the title screen) and yet the necromancer pack isn't included (the character is greyed out with the action to buy the necromancer pack)

However, if I try and click on buy, it weirdly says that the pack isn't available.. :|

                • +2

                  @roadeh: Hm that's weird.

I bought the Prime Evil on Switch, don't even have an option in the eShop to buy the Necromancer DLC so it should be included on all platforms.

Unless you need to go to the PS store and start a download for it manually? Or maybe progress to a certain point in the game, might be xpac only?

For what it's worth, I recently tried the DevilutionX port of Diablo 1, I couldn't choose Monk to start with but on the options on the main screen I switched to the Hellfire (expansion) option and it was there. Haven't opened Diablo III on my Switch yet so not sure if there's something similar you'll need to flick over.

EDIT: Just saw this on Reddit, try revalidating your licenses.

                  • @mangobango: Thanks @mangobango - hadn't occurred it would be an issue with that.. I'll try it out later

                    • @roadeh: All good, hopefully it works. I didn't even know that was a thing before seeing the post!

                      • @mangobango: Sadly revalidating the licenses didn't work - seems to be because my PSN is a UK account but i bought D3 here :(

                        • +1

@roadeh: Hm, is your D3 a physical disc of the Eternal Collection? Or did you get the Eternal Collection digitally?

Just had a thought, if it's physical, maybe create an AU PSN account, load the game, then it might download extra content if needed, then go back to your UK account and you should be able to access it. As long as you redeem DLC for the same region as your copy of the game and both accounts have your PS setup as the primary console, all users should get access to it.

                          • +1

@mangobango: No dice sadly, thanks anyway.. I'll probably just grab D4 on sale sometime than worry too much about this 😬

                            • @roadeh: Damn sad to hear it didn't work :( hopefully it magically works one day or you stumble upon a solution.

Fingers crossed for a D4 sale!

              • @mangobango: This makes one Lumalee happy 😀

Any good walkthrough/guides for a beginner to the genre wanting to play D2R?

    • I would just play the game and have fun figuring out stuff on your own, guides are for once you've already sunk 2000 hours into it lol

    • Sorceress is good for end game farming if you want the efficient choice, then get teleport and a mercenary from act 2 with the mana regeneration aura.
But otherwise just choose a character you like and have fun

  • I have a Diablo II: Resurrected PC code..happy to sell it for just $10, PM me if interested :P

  • I got this and played D2R on PS5 last night… it's very difficult to play on console!

    • Totally disagree, playing with controller is so easy and feels completely natural to me, what issue/s are you encountering?

      • picking up items and quick joining baal/cow runs

  • No upgrade path from D3 - Ultimate Evil Edition physical for me to get D2?

    • +1

I guess just get Prime Evil Collection so you get the Eternal Collection (including Necromancer DLC) and Diablo 2, Prime Evil Upgrade only has D2 plus minor DLC for D3.

      • Yeah. Ended up doing so. Only $5 difference.
