Was $10 after release for ages, then went up as the game got updated hehe

    • Same thing happened with Witcher 3. Both physical and digital prices were way down then shot up with the free PS5 update.

Considering its $43 on pc atm this is v good deal. Thanks OP

isnt it most boring game that cannot be finished?

    • +6

Its essentially a sandbox game, with a "story" that really is just a long tutorial.
Once you finish that, then you do whatever you want.

Some like the base building (minecraft players?)
Some like the factory-esque building side (farming resources)
Some like PvE (If this is the case, better off with Elite Dangerous)

Having experienced most other aspects, I just like collecting the ships now.
But to do that, I have to collect resources etc…like most of these genres, time for reward.

    • Radically changed since launch apparently, and now regarded as pretty good. That said haven't felt the need to jump into it much since I played at release, although the VR support on PC is tempting.

Is it the starfield version from Aliexpress? lol

    • +3

Considering no mans sky started development before starfield, probably not.
TBF starfield’s base premise is same as NMS and probably learnt from NMS’s horrible release, then added more RPG elements to try make it just a little bit different and keep up with NMS’s updates.

  • Must have got a reprint, I'm surprised how much stock there is available.

    • Not sure if you mean the updated version or not? I have the old version without the VR Compatible banner on the box. This one has more content on the disc, but has since been updated again so of course after mandatory updates they are both essentially the same.. but I've seen this version around for a while, albeit yeah probably not new copies mostly second hand.

      • Yeah I mean this Beyond edition.

Pretty sure I bought it around COVID times 2020 (maybe 2021) for $19 and there wasn't a huge amount of stock around.

Looks like they reprinted it as every EB in my state has stock now.

OOS @ Amazon, at least for me

    • +1

      Confirmed, all gone from Amazon.

This game has received a lot of praise for being seemingly 'redeemed' after the disastrous launch. I tried this game after boatloads of dlc being added. Despite all the extra content, I still find the game to be extremely boring, repetitive and overall pointless.

    • +7

For $9 though? Less than a sandwich and a coke.

      • +1

Agreed! Worthy of my pile of shame if it is indeed boring haha.

    • Try an expedition when they are on. It adds a lot of direction/purpose.

  • How's this as a coop game to play with a friend?

    • +2

Multiplayer brings all the bugs to the yard.

The general consensus from the player base is to avoid MP for game quests, etc.

    • +1

It's great fun! It's a casual game, and if you and your friend are okay with a few bugs to work around, you can have a blast.

    • +1

tried MP with a mate a couple of months ago.

Free roam, is not too bad, easy to work around bugs.
But unless you are helping a mate to get resources/items quicker, free roam, is just single player really…there isn't anything really extra for having an extra person.
As some things are locked via the story.

Main story quests, is NOT shared.

(Daily/Hourly?) Quest board (Nexus) is shared.
But buggy when it involves AI enemy.
I would be taking on the entire AI group (GTA style 1-5 stars wanted level)
My mate only sees 1 or 2 waves of AI, but also gets attacked by invisible (to him) AI.

We just ended up going back to purpose made co-op/MP games.

I just got this honoured at EB games, checkout girl was literally stunned, made my day. Jump on it while you can! They even gave me the PS5 native version

    • You mean gave you the PS5 disc version?

  • +1

    Waiting for PS Plus …

  • Is this worth picking up to play in VR?
I played it on game pass about a year ago and it was great for a few hours, but I struggled to get back into it.

  • This PS4 version is able to be updated to PS5 for free and ultimately updated to VR2 yeah?

    • +3

Yep it is, got at eb today ps5 update shows up when you put the PS 4 disc in ps5

      • Awesome, been meaning to give this a go in VR.

        • Same. For $8.44 I’ll give it a shot. Sure to get my moneys worth eventually

    • Yeah and they even gave me the PS5 native disk at EB today

  • Great deal. This game rarely goes below $40 now that they've turned it around
