Following on from this post:

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/787040

I decided to check if the kit I was waiting has dropped and IT HAS!

This is the 2-piece HP Brushless Compact Kit (Hammer Drill RPD18C + Impact Driver RID18C) + 2 Batteries. The tools alone cost $328 total.

RPD18C Hammer Drill $159
https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-18v-one-hp-brushless-compa…

RID18C Impact Driver $169
https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-18v-one-hp-compact-brushle…

2 Free 4aH batts and fast charger.

Unsure if this is a pricing error so get on it quick (it still shows 349 on search but not on the product page). Location VIC

(Edit: Fix links and updated itemised prices)

(Edit: seems to be out of stock everywhere now. You could still try instore maybe, but afaik online is all gone. How do I mark the deal out of stock? )

(Edit: in comments some people are apparently having this price honoured as special orders. worth a try if you're still keen)

Pretty awesome bit of kit for the price into the ONE+ ecosystem with brushless and batteries.

AEG had a one off display tent up at a nearby Bunnings the other weekend and price was a $30-60 more for similar kit. I use a DCD805N myself but for the price this Ryobi would be hard to choose over.

  • Nice find. Prefer these brushless models

  • +1

Great price, especially for the 4.0 batteries

  • +2

    includes 2x 4aH batteries?!! that's insane.
    Just one costs $149 RRP

  • Thank you so much! Was checking if I can get a cheaper 4.0Ah battery!

  • +1

Thanks, been waiting for this (there was a compact hammer drill kit for $139 on the display label but not in stock). Click and collect order made.

  • thanks ! batteries have died and need new ones - this is great :)

  • Thank you! I'd been eyeing off this drill and some spare batteries for some time, and glad I waited for a great deal like this.

  • Legend OP! Have been waiting for a good deal on the compact brushless.

  • Can they pls reduce price for Ozito. Have had a lot Ozito power tools.

  • This is awesome, most of my batteries have died after years of use, I looked at the double battery pack the other day and couldn't justify it, this is a fantastic deal with a couple of tools, a fast charger and 2 batteries for the same price as the double battery pack!

  • Just how many 4ah battery a man need lol

    I have 7 already!

But these brushless sets is better than my non-brushless set.

  • +4

Need the Ryobi blowers and mowers to drop in price

  • Thanks op, just bought one underwood

  • Any recommendations on drill bits kits?

      • Only $29.95 now. Great set for the home handman…

        • OK if your house is made of soft timber and plaster.

          • +1

            @billadm: Nonsense.

May not be true trade quality, but comes with masonry and steel drill bits and is more than capable of drilling through and into hardwood, and most other surfaces which a DIY enthusiast might encounter.

      • Any other recommendations?

  • +1

If you want to get it delivered it’s cheaper to get a OnePass subscription for a month at $4 then cancel, compared to $10 Bunnings delivery.

  • Anybody want to split the kit? I only need the impact driver and one battery. In Melbourne

    • You'll find thats all we all want as well. considering its HP versions of both spares are good.

    • Tried to sent a PM, but couldn't.
Interested in the charger and the other battery.

    • We can do that. Where are you located?

  • +5

Given it is a 3 year warranty in house with bunnings with registration I would be jumping on this.

    https://www.ryobi.com.au/support/warranties

    • +3

Just registered on the ryobi website
3 years on the x2 batteries and charger
6 years on the drill and driver tool (Standard Warranty: 4 years + Extended Warranty: 2 years)

  • The skin-only hammer drill "R18PD3" is RRP $129, and Bunnings currently has it for $68.81

    • +6

Not Brushless though. but yes good value.

  • Check this out who just want one drill , need a seperate post may be. https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-18v-one-drill-driver-kit_p…

    • Not HP though

    • +3

That's a regular drill driver, which is different to the brushless impact driver and hammer drill in this deal.

  • I just need to impact and the 2x battery hmmmm tempted with this price even will be putting on shelf for the hammer drill

    • sell it.

  • +1

Does anyone know how click and collect works at bunnings? I have ordered to pickup this afternoon, but only 2 instock. Do they put them aside for you??

    • +3

most likely they will screw you. I got screwed when they just cancelled. Then went on to a store and grabbed the last piece

    • Says in the text that I got that they'll hold it for 14 days, don't think they're going to sell it just because you can't instantly show to collect it.

(I haven't use the drive and collect appointment booking thing)

      • order cancelled. no stock at broadmeadows vic

      • +1

I think they don't run and put one aside as soon as an order is made. probably picked an packed afterwards, and if it is out of stock by then, tough luck!

      • Just picked mine up, lady at the click and collect desk said they had 5 in stock at their store and they were all scooped up in a very short amount of time, glad I got my hands on one!

And they gave me two free Ryobi stubbie holders to go with it!

  • I'm interested in the batteries and charger only if someone wants to split. Anywhere in Melbourne.

  • Bought it for the batteries. Anyone want the drill and impact driver dm me. In SW Sydney

  • I know it says click & collects ordered before 4pm are ready after 9am the next day - but are click & collects ever ready sooner than this? Have a free afternoon now.

    • +1

I got an email about 30 mins after purchasing saying ready to pick up. Woodville, SA

      • +1

Thank you, ended up going in and it had been ready for hours, just no email.

  • Cheers! Managed to get this from Bunnings, Epping VIC. Order is already ready for pickup.

  • My local had a kit with 2 x 2aH batteries for $169 I think. Don't remember if it was the Brushless or what, but can't find it on their website now.

  • Tried placing the order online, failed twice. Managed to go to the local Bunnings store and got one. Thanks @donkeyhokey

  • +3

I actually noticed this before OP posted but didn't panic buy until it popped up on the site and I knew they would be OZBargained.

Now I have the set with the matching impact wrench, all 3 lined up in front of me and I feel a tiny sense of completion… Which in no way fills the gaping void of regret and debt which is my daily life.

    • +2

      this is the way.

  • Got this text message about an hour after placing the order:

"Unfortunately we are out of stock of the item: Combo Kit Cordless Ryobi in your order with us, due to high demand of online orders we are unable to fulfil it at this time. We sincerely apologise for this, the missing item/s will be refunded via your online payment."

I've placed another order at another store for pick-up, will see it comes through

  • Thanks OP, ordered one and within 4 minutes I got SMS confirmation saying order is ready for pickup.
Next, I need to learn how to use it. I have never used hammer drill before. Can someone sugess to drill in brick should I use hammer or impact drill? I know hammer drill is use to drill in hard surfaces like rock or cement but would it be easier if I use hammer drill on brick wall?

    • +20

The terms you are using can sound confusing, but the way you remember it is the "hammer" part.

Everyone knows what a hammer does, it hits downwards.
The hammer drill hits down along the length of a drill bit, striking the bit head onto the surface like a jack hammer.
Provided you have a masonry drill bit (you can't use normal drill bits), it will go into brick no worries. Clearly this compact cordless hammer drill isn't going to perform like a larger corded Rotary Hammer Drill will (google these bad boys… they'll go through concrete like a knife in hot butter with a decent drill bit!), as those can generate much more hammering force. But this cordless hammer drill will do small jobs no worries with the right drill bit.

The Impact Driver doesn't hit or hammer along the length the drill bit, it impacts the turning force… like a mini pit crew taking nuts off a racing car. This is great when you're driving screws into timber or need that extra omph on smaller nuts/bolts.

So to answer your question, yes… hammer drill for all things masonry (rock, concrete, cement, brick walls)…. BUT only with a masonry drill bit! You'd never use the impact driver into masonry, and you can't use a normal drill bit you'd use for wood or metal. If you need to discuss drill bits, happy to do so.

      • +1

        Best explanation I’ve seen, thanks!

        • +3

welcome. it used to confuse me with all the names they use… impact driver, hammer drill, driver drill, impact hammer, rotary hammer etc. :)

      • wow.. thats is the great explanation. thanks mate.
I have a normal corded impact drill and it struggles to drill hole in brick wall even with masonry drill. So thanks for answering that I can actually use hammer drill on brick wall.

  • -4

Hey all, what are your all using these for? I have old corded Drills and an ikea cordless screwdriver why would I need something cordless especially.

    • +11

Since everyone else is just down-voting you, like they're seasoned tradies:

      • Hammer Drill: General drilling and putting holes in stuff. Sometimes I attach stuff to it like a brush to clean car wheels.
      • Impact Driver: Screwing screws without having to make holes with above Hammer Drill first.
      • Batteries: Honestly, just to flex with the 20 odd I now have due to these deals.

Once you go cordless, you never go back.

      • My cord one is like 20yo. Is it worth buying one of these and throwing it out? I mean sometimes i feel sad and just want to buy stuff.
But i think most likely o won't use it much. Maybe need to drill holes once a year. Will the batteries just die?

        • +5

Not worth it for you. Keep the cord drill and find your purpose in life so you can satisfy your soul instead of buying things. Material things don't satisfy, they just make you want more.

PM me if you need help finding your purpose.

    • Nah, we don’t use them. We just collect adult toys Hahaha

  • +4

Here for amazon prime and end up buying drills from Bunnings haha

  • ffs, SOLD OUT IN SYDNEY!

  • If you order online they will try to get stock within the area of your shipping address, if there's no stock in the area it will just get cancelled.

  • Omg. I just paid $349 last week from Bunnings. It’s still brand new in box. Can I return this or ask for money back?

    • You can definitely get your money back, but whether you can still get this deal is another issue. Give them a call.

      • When I call Bunnings tomorrow can I suggest I’ll return the item and then purchase back the same item cheaper if they don’t want to give me the price difference back?

        • Check if they'll refund the difference, sure. Personally I would have bought this deal while it lasted and then returned the other kit. You are pretty much guaranteed to get your money back on your original purchase.

  • Snagged one .. good timing given my 10+ year old drill chuck has started playing up. thanks OP

  • Cheers OP, was worried they wouldn't have processed the order but all good 👍, click n collect at Port melb.

  • +1

Remember Oz B community, you can get adapters to fit other batteries to Ryobi and so much cheaper.

I have DeWalt and Ryobi and my xr DeWalt batteries have an adapter that fits to Ryobi skins…. Cost me $23 delivered for a adapter with a USB outlet as a power brick if need be.

  • +1

I bought one, they took my money but i didn't get a confirmation email or sms. Anyone else?
edit: all good, order went through but my hotmail might have blocked my bunnings emails

    • +2

Mine was in spam to and ready for pick up

  • Do I need brushless or am I getting suckered? DIY warrior that occasionally needs to tighten screws but want to feel like a man while I do it.

    Regular drill driver keeps slipping.

Told myself I’ll fix the kids cubby deck and I need an impact driver before I can begin.

Can I just settle for the regular or is brushless the bees knees

    • Using a drill for screws is a pretty bad experience - they're way too big and unwieldy and don't really have fine enough control.
The Bosch 7.2v cordless screwdriver is really awesome, and if you need something with more grunt then an impact driver is the way to go.

  • Cancelled no stock available in Perth. :(

    • When they called me to cancel it, I just said I'm happy to wait for stock. I got a call a day later being told they will have stock in a week.

      • Same here at Clearmount. They were super helpful I gotta say. Now what the hell am I gonna do with this ryobi kit…
