I noticed the 120Gb Intel 520 series gets about 10% faster if you buy it with a mounting kit ;)

EDIT: Sweet price on the Gigabyte 680, maybe you should mention it's actually the OC version, boosted speed and a far better cooler :)

        • +5

Yes, that is indeed the case, as the flash chips are more comfortable & thus better rested in the Intel branded bracket… :)

          Regards,
          Roberta

        • thanks for suggestion :)

  • Just got a Samsung 830 256GB. Can't wait for delivery =)

    • Actually forgot to ask this, but does the Samsung 830 come with a mounting bracket?

      • +1

        @tshao
It is model MZ-7PC256B/WW, which does Not include a bracket &/or Ghost…
..ie it is NOT a kit…

        Regards,
        Roberta

      • If it doesn't, don't sweat it. Buy one on ebay, then while you wait, just sit it on the bottom of your case (or even leave it hanging from it's sata cable if too short for that). It'll work fine, SSD's have no moving parts.

        • You can even use tape to keep it down.
Check some youtube videos for installation guides

i wonder which is the most brilliant/common method ozbargainers employed to hold their SSDs… How about some posting on the methods used and we see which of them received the highest votes?

zip ties = keep it simple

        • Took some sponge pads that came in my graphics card box and used elastic bands to completely cover the SSD. Chucked it in the 5.25" bay. Worked fine! :)

Long term solution: used a 2.5" to 3.5" rack with my CM 690 II advanced case and properly slid it into one of the hdd cages. I <3 my SSD, it needs the royal treatment. :P

Any specials for 7950 (Gigabyte model)?

  • Cheers for the cheapo price on the 680.

  • Just got one Intel 330 120GB. Was contemplating between the Intel and the SanDisk a bit. I have one SanDisk and it has great performance. This time I go with Intel. Good price. Thanks.

  • Thanks - just grabbed two Samsung 830's!

  • Ordered a Samsung 830, thanks.

  • Free shipping on 7870?? Pretty please?!

    • why dont you go for HD 7950

  • They also have Benq GL2750HM 27" LED Monitor 2ms HDMI Speakers for $249 during Epic Hour tomorrow.
    http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/view/EpicHour

Is this a good deal for LED Monitor?

    • Well put it this way, you won't find many, if any, 27" screens cheaper than that. However, it's a BenQ and a TN panel. If I was going to to get a TN panel with its associated color inferiority, reduced contrast levels and restricted viewing angles compared to the more expensive and superior IPS panels, I would stick with an LG or Samsung.

  • What is the difference of the 2 version of Intel 520 120GB on your website? One is $142 and the other is $155 (with Kit). Both of them are SATA III but the $155 is with faster Read/Write speed? Their detail specs say both are with the same speed (?!?)

    • The kit would include a mountain bracket for securing the SSD in a 3.5" bay. If you have a new case and you paid a reasonable amount for it, there's a good chance it has built in bays dedicated for SSD's. You wouldn't need the bracket in this case.

  • looks like you can only order maximum of 1 SSD i get

You can only order maximum of 1 Samsung 830 Series 256GB 2.5 inch Solid State Drive SSD SATA III MZ-7PC256B/WW (MZ-7PC256BWW)
