who trust critics more than the populace (a la Urbanspoon)

Urbanspoon is full of sockpuppets these days…

I'd never heard the term "sockpuppet" before frequenting this site. As far as I knew, a "sockpuppet" was the name of that special sock that guys keep under their bed.

When I first saw the term used on here, I thought people were calling certain posters a wanker (sockpuppet).. which kinda fits, I guess.

dunno why you got a neg for that!

should update the deal to include sydney one.

      • aha wow…person who negged, could you explain why you have a problem with mentioning the same deal for sydney? seems pretty relevant to me…

taking the whole sydney vs melbourne thing a bit far i think! aha.

when you go from the brilliance of John Lethlean…:

…to the pseudo-literary wank of larisa dubecki:
    http://www.theage.com.au/entertainment/restaurants-and-bars/…

…to the absolute retardedness of whoever this was written by:

…you really take your publication to the edge of relevance!

still, the GFG/epicure remains a pretty good source of info on the Victorian restaurant scene. i wouldn't trust them MORE than the populace…i think it's a matter of taking all information sources (GFG, blogs, urbanspoon, word of mouth, etc) with the appropriate grain of salt.

eg. i think the list of chefs hats is mostly right, but there are some that don't deserve to be there, and some that aren't that do!

but yeah, i'll still get my copy on the weekend!
