We would love to host your next meetup :)

      • +1

That's a really good idea. If I was in Melbourne I would definitely go.

    • Well done tight arse !

    • I would attend. Met a lovely group in Holy Basil (Canley Heights, NSW) as the meetup just so happened to be during our trip to Sydney from Melb so we got to have a lovely meal and socialise for a night of our holiday. Def would meet some Ozbargainers again

Order at table style is the worst. We never had enough people come to us to order stuff

    • +38

      This is by design.

    • Walk up to the servers

I do it all the time.

      Just grab water jugs etc.

    • +7

To make sure that we're giving every table the attention they deserve, we only take limited bookings per session! We can assure you that you won't leave feeling hungry or that you weren't given enough opportunities to order. We walk around asking each table multiple times if we can get them anything else. :)

    • +17

Went this week, can confirm that staff were extremely attentive, checked up on us about 5 times throughout the session to see how we were going and if we wanted any more food. Was a very pleasing experience!

    • +2

Went this week and it wasn't an issue. There was only one waiter (which I had my concerns about) but we had our food ordered within 5 minutes of being there. They also asked us another couple times throughout the night whether we wanted to order more.

Possibly the only $25pp ALL YOU CAN EAT in Melbourne, Victoria or dare we even say Australia!?

No you are not. There are at least 3 Sri Lankan all you can eat at $25pp and work day lunch places <$20.

    • +17

      https://maalumaalubrunswick.com/

Excellent Sri Lankan all you can eat in Brunswick

      • Thanks!
Do you know if they have kids prices?

      • -1

Thanks - never heard of this and I live in Brunswick!

    • +3

OP did not say the only $25 or lessAUCE, they said only $25, any cost a cent above or below $25 doesn’t count

      • Then I think OP will dare to say they're "the only one in Australia" if they increase the price to $25.01 lol

      • +1

Both Citrus and Maalu Maalu are exactly $25 for their buffet.

        • Ding ding you caught OP out!

    • +3

I've tried all of the Sri Lankan all you can eat joints in Melbourne (Maalu Maalu in Brunswick, Serendib in Northcote and Citrus in Fitzroy North).

They're all good and offer outrageous value - but Citrus in particular is truly excellent and a clear step above the rest. Incredibly delicious, authentic, family style cooking - because it is a family that's cooking. Super lovely and attentive service, you can go up and serve yourself as many times as you want - and they keep refilling the stations. Highly recommended!

      • Ha I've tried all of them too. IMO Citrus ≈ Maalu Maalu > Serendib

    • love sri lankan food can you list the 3?
      thanks

      • see above

The menu is on the website and from a quick look there are a few vego dishes

A few of the nacho fries
        Golden mushroom
        Sweet potato fries
        Seaweed fries

It is very potato heavy but hey, who doesn't like potato.

  • Is it possible to get a booking for this Sunday?

    • Certainly, please purchase tickets via our website as linked in this post! :)

      • Next available booking is on the 17th (Sunday is on the 16th)

        • Sorry, misread your comment. Next Sunday 23 July is the first Sunday we are doing the buffet for!

    • +6

Hi there, sorry the buffet pricing doesn't really make it viable for your situation. However, our ala-carte menu is value-packed as well, perhaps that would be more suitable for you and your child if you'd like to try our food! :)

        • +5

          Identify as a 4yo
          They can't say no

        • +6

you open a store and do it please! run a muck for us

          • @CrowdControl101: Google “kids menu age”. The standard is 12yo.

Because 6yo’s won’t eat 2 burgers fries and a large chicken popcorn.

            • @browncamry: Is 2 burgers fries and a large chicken popcorn $12.50 to you?

              • @CrowdControl101: No happy to pay full price just not for a 7yo kid who’s going to eat a bit of fries and a bit of chicken

  • +7

Well done for getting the site up and removing the Eventbrite fee, OP! Not in VIC but will give it a try when we are in the area

    • +1

Thanks! We take the comments and views of our existing/prospective customers very seriously, and are week-on-week taking onboard suggestions to make our offering the ultimate one for you all! :)

  • any table for 1 ?

    • +2

Yes, we've taken into account the comments in the last session, and now you can buy individual tickets on our website. :)

    • :-(

    • Have you watched “the menu”?

      • nope
        ?
        comedy horror 🤔

        • You can basically hire someone to go eat with you if the place don’t take reservations for 1 person even if you know you’re going to get them killed. Stupid movie. Don’t watch it.

  • How often do you change the stalls there?

    • We currently only have 8 stalls, which we can cycle around every month or so, to keep things fresh! We will update when we add any new stalls!

Personally, I think SSAM, the Korean buffet in Melbourne is much better value for money. Did anyone try it before? I have been there once when I was in Melbourne. The foods was absolutely delicious for just under $20. https://instagram.com/ssam_kbbq?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

    • +1

When is it $20 per person?
Just looking at it and it says $49.9 per person for buffet

      • Looks like specific lunch option only

        • Yep 20 bucks during lunch, it's good value and the buffet option at 20 bucks has a nice spread, I believe you can also upgrade to kbbq all you can eat buffet at 40 bucks pp.

Just booked in for next week, excited to be filled.
Will report back here, and also google reviews to help you out afterwards.
Disliked how neg’ed you got last week, seems like an amazing opportunity!

    • Thanks! We hope to deliver a good experience :) See you next week!

Went there on Tuesday. Food was good. There were two waiters. Good service, wait time was not that long. Only issue was the washroom was located in the office buildings two floors above, and that is beyond the cafe's control. Looking forward to dine there again.

  • Any plans for a Sydney business?

  • Any issue with the website this morning? Doesnt seem to be loading for me. Ill try on another device and report back too.

Edit: looks like its just my work laptop that doesnt like the site. Works fine on mobile.

  • +2

Looks great OP. Do you have any halal options?

    • +5

Hi there, sorry unfortunately we don't - we did consider buying halal meats given the large demand in the area, however we were reminded that buying halal meats does not make our restaurant halal as we still have pork on the menu and there is the possibility of cross-contamination via using shared pans etc.

      • +1

Thanks for replying OP. Don't know why I got negged. Would love to visit if you do make the switch in the future.

        • I don't either and got rid of it for you.

  • -1

Is the meat Halal? If so, would love give it a try this weekend.

  • Looks yummy, but quite a trip to visit from NSW.

I always wonder why buffets price based on age? As there's no easy way to tell if a child is 4yo, 5yo, or 6yo.

Wouldn't it make more sense to go by height?

  • Great concept. Bringing back the days of old with Pizza Hut, sizzler, smorgys, where you can go to an all you can eat and destroy as much food as you could until you were literally sick.

With the economy the way it is, it’s great to see that budget buffet options are still available.

Stuff paying for a la carte and then racking up a $200 bill cos u were hungry

    • I would eat very little pizza so I could pack my kiddy belly full of chocolate mousse.

  • Wastage fee is a cool idea - people should order food to eat, not for the sake of it

  • I like that you call them "sessions", makes it seem kinda seedy.

  • +7

The customer service was top-notch, with the servers and even the owner being incredibly attentive throughout our meal. We severely over-ordered, underestimating the behemoth portion size of the Cheeseburger fries. However, the owner was understanding and graciously canceled the order, offering to eat it himself, despite it already being cooked. We had a delightful conversation with the owner, who was very down-to-earth and approachable.

Food-wise, the wings were great. While I didn't expect five-star food, some was slightly overcooked, like the cheeseburger patties on the fries and the popcorn chicken.

Overall, the dinner is stupidly great value for money, and the outstanding customer service made the experience even better. Despite a few minor cooking mishaps, I would definitely return.

  • $15 fine if your leftovers weigh more than 300 grams. WTF?
