  • These glue guns are useful, but sometimes the cord can be really inconvenient… I miss my old jaycar gas powered glue gun.

    • +2

Thats why I like my Ryobi 18v glue gun, very convenient when we need to use it

      • Sounds really good! Except batteries can be a bit fiddy. Always out of charge when you go to use them

I wish ozito made some kind of transformer thing, that you could plug into the tool and power it from the mains. Then we could have the freedom to use it without worrying about charged batteries

        • I wish ozito made some kind of transformer thing, that you could plug into the tool and power it from the mains.

          how does that work?

Normally it is either cordless via battery (built in) or battery pack
          or corded.

        • I know what you mean. My Braun shaver is like that. Normally rechargeable battery powered but you can still be used while charging on mains.

If you're not charging your batteries asap, you're destroying them, and Ozito batteries are unforgiving, they die with the least amount of abuse!

          • @Series4Episode10: Not been my experience. I've got one 4Ah pack that I've absolutely thrashed and aside from broken guide rails (the weak point in these batteries), it's still going strong.

It's outlasted a pole saw that it came with and is probably going to outlast the recip saw I use it most with.

I mean fair call that you need to look after the batteries, but if you do, they last well.

@EthicsGradient: I also live in the tropics, cheaper cells don't handle heat near as well as high quality ones

              • @Series4Episode10:

I also live in the tropics

Fair enough - I'm Hobart based, so definitely not tropical (although starting to feel that way this year - barely had the heating on this winter!).

And I do make a point of maintenance charging on my batteries too.

      • pro and cons of each

cord never need to worry about recharging the battery or battery dying + quicker heat up

but you lose the freedom of cordless (take it anywhere to use, no need for power socket) and no cord hanging off it (which makes it more easier to use)

Price matching upcoming Aldi catalog fyi.

  • +5

Most the Ozito stuff is on sale. Eg :
    - 15W Engraver $14.85 (from $27.98)
    - 18V chainsaw kit $136 (was $224)
    - 3.6V pruner $50 (was $76)
    - 1900W corded chainsaw $87 (was $129)
    (and the list goes on)

    • +2

It saddens me that the brushless stuff is never on sale

      • +6

true, but that is the good stuff they have no problem selling. you have to put on sale the crap so someone buys it.

        • Brushless isn't even that much more expensive to make, brushless motors and ESC are probably $10 more than the brushed versions.

        • -2

Nothing Ozito can be labeled "Good Stuff"!

      • +7

It is occasionally, but ALDI has to be the bigger man first to force Bunnings' hand

        • +5

and in the Aldi clearance specials, therein lies the real discounts

          • +6

@Jackson: Only if you get a really good tool deal though, and don't expect any replacement unlike Ozito's easy warranty.

I got the Ferrex pressure washer for like $25 one time, then 3d printed an adapter for my Ozito batteries. Very pleased with that deal!

  • +1

i need battery, corded is so last century.

    • -3

you'll get downvoted to oblivion for this comment. However, its true

      • There are still uses for corded, but for the diy it's definitely not often enough to outweigh the convenience of cordless.

    • I picked up the 12V battery operated Ozito Home torch ($1), Hammer Drill ($10) and glue gun ($2), but the batteries and charger for those is still $35, waiting on a deal on those

      • New from Bunnings?

      • Yeah also curious about that pricing

        • +1

Yeah, it was posted here too, they were clearing some of the tools out. I think they are end of lining the tools, but they are still hanging on to the batteries and chargers so that they can support the exisitng users, that's my guess anyway

Can anyone confirm if staple/nail gun can be used for furniture backboards probs 2mm thick?

    • +5

I haven't used it, but that is exactly the kind of thing it is designed for. If it didn't do a good job on that it would be completely useless.
Just hold it firmly against the board, remember it is pushing back at you as hard as it pushes the wood.

    • +1

It was fine for me on a few different thicknesses of mdf. I put new material on home gym equipment. Put the backing of an old cupboard back on with no issues.

    • +2

I upholstered an office chair with this staple gun. It's pretty punchy.

    • Amazing, thanks all. I'm sick of using my hammer to nail in - so I'm eyeing this budget friendly one.
Any tips regarding staple use, jamming, or refilling etc?
Does it also specify which type of nails/staples are compatible?

@Cinnamon Crunch - curious what was the thickest mdf you had success with? & did you use a different nail/staple from the one it comes with? Cheers!

    • +1

Return it if doesnโ€™t do it. Bunnings will 100% take it back.

    • +1

one of the bunnings reviews shows them driving staples at full depth into 15mm melamine

    • Redid a cat tree - bloody side better at putting carpet onto mdf/wood than using hand hammered tacks.

Fast and effective into pine and particle board

    • I just did my insulation and it was fine except it struggled with some of the thicker sections where it was a little bit bunched up.

Also the first one failed on me so I had to get it replaced for another one.

    • Thanks all - I will definitely be abusing the backboards with this!

    • -1

For 2mm, even this $8 Craftright might do.

      • You mean the 2.7 star with 18x 1 star reviews? PASS

Also the thing weighs more in person than it looks - toolbag is heavy already as is. PASS

  • +1

    fantastic deal!

now you can prank your roommates on the cheap

  • Man Bunnings web sucks… have the stupid only gives me full price bug yet again

  • +3

If only the nail guns accepts longer nails so I can nail on skirtings - it only accepts 15mm long c1 brad nails!

  • Ozito Glue gun is future landfill, bought a Bosch one to replace it, has outlasted warranty, something the Ozito won't if you use it regular.

  • Nail gun works a treat. Thanks OP! Great find :-)

  • Corded nail gun.

    • Grabbed one; used it today. Works as advertised; only kink perhaps is that it needs to be pushed hard against the surface for it to staple hard materials (wood, for instance). But maybe that's the case with all stapler guns; can't compare, this is the only one I've ever used.

  • Deal still available at 3977

  • I picked up the nail gun today.

From someone who's never used one and is permanently traumatised from watching eyeshots, any tips/advice apart from eyepro? ๐Ÿ˜…

    • +1

Hold it with both hands: one on the handle and trigger, the other pushing the back of it onto the surface you're nailing. I used it with the staples, and it seemed unlikely to ricochet on the face (unless you have very low muscle tone on your arms), but if you don't apply pressure on it's back, the staples (and I assume the nails) don't go in entirely (unless you have very strong triceps).

      • +1

Ahh, I get you. Thanks for that! Good advice and makes sense.

I've yet to open it.. ๐Ÿ˜… I think I've heard also you could ricochet on an exist stud in a wall/object? Guessing this unit doesn't have that much like, pressure though compared to the industrial nail guns and whatnot.
