  • Hibiki quality has dropped substantially in the last few years as they scramble to keep up with international demand. There are better Japanese blends and single malts out there for this price.

    • Great, any further details on examples?

      • Nikka from the barrel if it's under 80

    • Do you have any specific suggestions?

        😂

        • It's always the case when folks talk down a brand but don't suggest whats better

  • Shows at checkout (for delivery): Product Hibiki Harmony Japanese Whisky 700mL is no longer in stock

An NAS Hibiki for 300 is laughable. The 12 for $120 wasnt even that great before the Japanese frenzy. The 17 for $170 was good.

Get Nikka from the barrel for 70-80. That's pretty much the only Japanese worth buying these days.

    • Since the introduction of new labeling standards Nikka From The Barrel is not "Japanese Whisky". It is a blend of imported whiskies that is matured in barrels "for a few months" so it fails almost every requirement of the standard.

      • I think there;s some Ben Nevis in there, But doesn't matter, yes it's blend (not pure malt like Hibiki and taketsuru) and I stand by my comment. Have you tried it? I so, how do you think it fairs against the new NAS Japanese blend?

Edit: sory just woke up, Hibiki has Chita in it, so not a pure malt like Taketsuru

  • Dan Murphy’s are matching with $189.95 if you’re a loyalty member….

  • Anyone know what a bottle of this (or Nikka By The Barrel) goes for locally in Japan these days?

    • I was there last month.. only place I saw Harmony was at a bottle shop for $180 (reseller).
The NBTB is more available for $25.

      • Good to know. Thanks

        • I picked up ichiro malt and grain for $35.
Also yoichi and miyagikyo for $50 each.

          • @wikiwiki: I’m sure the strong Aussie $ (against they Yen) helps
