$2 a kg sizes from 2.5 to 20 - seems like a good deal from a long term established merchant that has physical store presence. Shipping is a killer though - ymmv. My shipping quote was just under $1/kg

Mix and match. So long as the diameter is the same, weight is just about the most fungible thing you can imagine.
Mind you these aren't calibrated plates, so 20kg might be 18kg or 22kg. Not exactly precise but hard to tell when it's on a barbell.

I ended up pulling the trigger and getting a pair of 2.5, 5, 10, and an octet of 20 kg plates.
Even with shipping, and minus the $50 referral value I’m sitting at close to $4 per kilo delivered. If I don’t like them I have a feeling I’ll break even or maybe even turn a small profit on Canberra’s used market.
Has anyone got a good lead on cheap 1.25kg plates or fractional sets?
Fwiw I paid close to 4.5 /kg for celcius ones with the rubber and tri grip style handles and I had to pick it up from a rebel 30 min away. , I think $4 for a force USA brand one , delivered is still not too shabby.

over all good deal how ever I recommend buying in multiple lots it looks like as soon as you have over 40kg in weights the price explodes in shipping atleast for me anyway
for example to Adelaide and for all the weights I wanted it was:
2x 2.5kg $10 + 2x 10kg $40 + 2x 5kg $20 + 2x 20kg $80 + ship 303.41 = 453.41
but if I bought it in two lots:
2x 10kg 40 + 2x 5kg 20 + 2x 2.5kg 10 + ship $46.95 = $116.95
2x 20kg 80 + ship $52.30 = $132.30
= $249.25
which is just an insane difference because in one shipment it works out as $6 per kg……but in 2 lots its costing me about $3.3 per kg which is a deal and i might just pick up a few more if its still on after pay day.
its worth noting I live around the corner from the Adelaide show room its fairly poor that there isn't a pick up option not to mention if i did get it sent their id still have to pay full shipping

I paid $3 for some old plates around COVID start, and managed to resell them for a little bit more than what I paid about a year in. They were rusted to hell though but did the trick. This year I was still getting quotes around 3.50 ish a kg for again rusted to hell 4 or 5th hand gear - while there is still some decent marketplace pickups there is just as much ‘i LNoW whaT I hAVe’ type sellers
