Is the X90K the equivalent model of the X9000H?

    • +3

I believe so. The H is the 2020 model while the K is the 2022 model. The trailing 0s are just different model names from different regions.

    • Bought the 85X90H/X9000H couple of years back, similar deal via JB. Its a beast and amazingly good TV. Although, in a very bright room it may have challenges. I assume Sony only improved K…

    • X9000G… X9000H… X90J… X90K

  • -1

We have the X90K in a 55". It's ok, but just ok.

    • +1

      Yeah 55” is underwhelming.

      • The bigger it gets, the less effective the full array is too right? Also the CPU and OS is the same.

        • Not necessarily, I think there's a difference in certain sized panels re: the number of dimming zones, but I can't recall which sizes that effects and actually can't remember anything.

          Comment for comments sake

    • +3

It is still full array, not as good as mini LED or OLED but difference price point.

    • +5

we have the 75" and its been faultless. OS is zippy and picture quality is on point for LED. wouldve loved an 85" if space permitted at ours

      • +1

I have the 85", and the OS had issues when I had two profiles signed into the OS - the TV kept restarting. Had to resort back to using one profile only. Apart from that, agree with Neilzy, the OS runs a dream.

Guys, amazon appear to be matching the price however for the 2023 model ‎KD-85X80L

Clearly an oversight, and with free delivery,

It’s not in stock but you can lock in the price

    • +8

      X80L

    • Sony are not listing 85" X90L on their website.

      • A lot of the models were not updated this year. Few that were have been rebadged. Theres a youtube video on it

    • +3

      That's a vastly different television.

Edge lit, slower processor, and terrible in larger sizes.

Newer does not instantly mean better.

  • +2

Tempted by rtings review and perfect for ps5. Just need Sony to bundle the PS5.

    • Yeah this looks a pretty good TV if you're going for non-OLED! Great for gaming

      • It’s a massive downgrade obviously, but it does do well with the ps5.

  • +3

Just wait for the next 85 TCL C845 deal. These two have been compared and it isn’t close with 80 zones on this vs 896 on the TCL

    • Even on sale TCL 85" C845 will cost at least 1k more than this price

      • yeah, but 80 zones for 85'' seems too few

      • It was $2700 a few weeks ago? The same price if you returned the soundbar

    • Only get the TCL if you don't mind motion blur (and don't watch much sport).

      • +2

While that may be true as a general trend, it isn’t for this gen of TCL, they’re much improved

        • -2

Improved - yes, as good as Sony - no.

          • -1

@eccaz: That's subjective. I was gearing up to purchase this TV, went to check this TV out at a Sony store and JB. The c845 TCL looked spectacular esp the blacks, this TV not so much.

As far as the picture quality and price goes, can't justify the steep increase in the price on a Sony. I'm not sure how the TCL compares with Sony in terms of reliability though.

Overall at the shops their default picture setting (vivid or store demo mode), side by side I would pickup the TCL any day.

            • @zxcvb: The TCL will look great for cartoons and CGI.

    • 20%off TCL at JB

Sony just matched but back order, wasn't this morning, they must be monitoring ozbargain.

Shopback also coming up as 8% back (was 1.75%) when I follow link - also free delivery over $200

    • Who has better support?

      • Sony's support is absolutely dire in my experience.

      • +1

Sony would do anything not to honour their warranty, best of luck if it comes to claiming anything.

Need a deal on the 75X90K, but im assuming there are none left….

    • Bigger is better.

      • That's what my wife tells me!

    • This is what I'm waiting for. Although the Samsung 75 QN85B deal from a few months ago for about 1.6k truly was the best 75" deal going around. Disappointed I missed it

  • recently bought a 75"for a little less than this… would have got this if this was available at the time…

    • Posted several times recently for the 85", JB or HN with soundbar.

      • i bought earlier in the year… 75 is not enough when you compare it to 85 LOL bigger is best

  • +2

Bought a 75x90k after returning a TCL C835. Love it alot. Happy with the x90k. Beautiful colours and true to life. OS is smooth and easy to use.

Playing PS5 on it works great.

    • Why did you return c835?

      • +1

TCL's deliver a poor quality image.

      • +2

Like the commentor above. I found that the picture quality wasnt as good as the Sony.

I also watch alot of FTA and sports. The TCL had poorer image upscaling for FTA and sports was not as smooth as Sonys motion handling.

But mainly the colours. Sony's colours are beautiful.

        • Hey mate, Did the shop accept that it doesn't meet your expectations for the return?
Did you have any other issues with your TV?

          • +1

@TheKas: Yes they accepted the return of the tv as it was not what I was sold on. Store was jb hifi

  • I bought this TV directly from Sony last month, and found it to be really great. The TV is in a relatively well lit area, so had some concerns that reflections would be an issue.. but it's a non issue at all.

I was tossing up between this and spending alot more for a Mini LED TV.. I couldn't see a big difference in the store. Now that it's in my house it works well.

Happy to answer any questions about it..

    • Any motion issues with sports?

      • No issues for me. x90k has excellent motion handling for sports.

      • I've found that its really quick to react, certainly no horrible ghosting or blurring or anything like that.

Definitely looks very sharp if you use a very good (streaming) source.

    • I couldn't see a big difference in the store.

For most streaming service, I couldn't see big difference unless youtube 4k demo.

  • Love my 85" X85K, everything I view on it looks fantastic. I can only imagine this is even better. Great TV at a great price.

    • X85K got higher score than X90K according to rtings review.

      • Yeah, I heard some said X90K have blooming issue, returned it and get X85K

        • Woah I had no idea, but yeah I mean I'm over the moon with mine considering price paid at the time of purchase.

      • Am I looking at this wrong?

        https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/sony-x90k-vs-sony-x8…

Looks like X85k had a score of 8.0 and X90K had a score of 7.7.

        • Unless I’m reading it wrong the scores are the other way around

          • @blonky: Ah oops I wrote the scores wrong but yeah was referring to an earlier comment that said the X85K had a higher score than then X90K which rtings seems to disagree with.

  • Pretty great TV! Bought the 75 inch version for $1700 from JB last month.

  • I have the 75" model and if you have the living room for an 85" and like me enjoy quality audio, I'd strongly suggest getting at least a decent sound bar with it. Speakers definitely didn't cut it for me.

    • +4

I don't think any television speakers are particularly good quality.

      • +1

absolutely… my reply was a response to some of the comments saying you 'don't have to get the soundbar combo' this time around. So, unless you already have a decent audio setup, I'd recommend factoring that in as well.

  • I hate my TCL c835. I wish I bought sony x90k.. TCL is complete rubbish.. I am not sure whether its me or lot of ppl having issue.. I bought TCL based on ozbargain reviews.. but it didn't work for me :(
OS is so clanky.. picture is laggy.. when you increase volume it will exit you out of the app that you are using.. sometimes it never responds to remote input.. Never had an experience like this with any TVs in the past.. I still have my LG oled bought 5 years back and its rock solid.. never missed a beat..
    biggest mistake..

    • Yeah TCL and Hisense always have laggy rubbish OS, even on their top models, it always confuses me why people recommend them.

    • TCL are rubbish. I'd only consider if you are willing to stick a fire tv or google tv on it - but yeah they see still rubbish particularly on fast moving scenes. Also buggy

  • I've got through 2 Sony Tv's over the last few years, 55" then 65" mid range, image quality is ok but everything else is laggy and bugged

  • So has anyone got an update on delivery?
