Seiko Prospex Arnie Solar Ana-Digi Watch SNJ033P $599, Turtle Eucalyptus Automatic Watch SRPJ53K $549 Delivered @ Starbuy

140

The one I've been waiting for, just in time before I leave the country. Now I have both 40th Anniversary Arnies.

Seiko Prospex Arnie 40th Anniversary Edition Mens Hybrid Divers 200m WR Watch SNJ033P.

The Seiko Prospex Arnie SNJ033P1 features the Seiko hybrid H855 solar power movement. The case is stainless steel with hardlex glass and a matching Stainless Steel bracelet. The case size is 46.9mm x 14.2mm with a lug width of 22mm. The SNJ033 has a 200m water resistance rating with a screw case back, a screw lock crown and a uni-directional rotating bezel. Additional features include a power save function, a daily alarm, an automated calendar till December 31 year 2100, LED and a power save function.

The new calibre H855 has been upgraded with improved visibility for diving, with a larger display at the 6 O’Clock position. It also features diving log, depth metre and temperature measuring functions.

This diver’s watch is a modern re-interpretation of the Seiko “Hybrid diver’s,” a world-first originally released in 1982 as a hybrid combination of analogue and digital watch technology. This model is also known as the ‘Arnie’ after the actor who wore it in the film ‘Commando’ and its watch shape is nicknamed by Seiko fans as a ‘Tuna’ – because of its larger diameter and bold shape like a tuna tin. This particular design is a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the world’s first hybrid diver’s watch with alarm chronograph. The original watch proved its reliability in extreme environments including the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition in 1984 and the Joint Mount Everest Challenge made by the Japanese, Chinese and Nepalese team in 1988.

What we love: An iconic part of the Seiko collection, the Arnie is sure to be a part of most good collections.

Other shit I don't care about:

Almost completed that 'one for every day of the year' collection?

Alpina Startimer AL-525NW4S26 looks very nice.

    • Almost completed that 'one for every day of the year' collection?

I have enough shoes for that, and whisky

      • Can you ever have too much whisky on the shelf? I’d like to test that theory…

  • Why don’t you care about the Eukalyptus? I find it a very interesting watch. Also nice to see a limited edition.

    • I don't like the green. I get what they're doing but if it was a brighter shade, I would've bought it already.

    • Just get a steeldive if you like that one..

Agree, must be one watch a week for a year!

    • It is an interesting watch. It's all Aussie bush, oi oi oi.

    • I actually prefer the eucalyptus over the regular green colours that other models come in. Shame there’s a premium just because it’s a limited edition.

    • Agree it's a murky weak kind of green

may as well just get army green

      • Ugh that's a horrible green.

The eucalyptus dial shimmers and changes in the light. It's actually really nice.

        • Both horrible
Would look good on you though.

just in time before I leave the country.

Will you be saying "I'll be back!" at the departure gate?

    • +2

Or "to the chopper" on the way out?

      • How did you know I'm chartering a chopper to go 10km from my backyard to my private jet?

        • +2

I'm the pilot you ignore every time you hop on the chopper.

I've been waiting for this one too. I prefer the digi display at the bottom, and definitely the stainless over the black varieties.

    • I usually would be the same… but dang the SNJ037P1 just hit the spot so much better imo

      • +1

Yeah the Black Arnie looks tougher which is the whole point.

        • +1

          the Black Arnie

          Terry Crews?

    • didn’t realise the watch also has depth meter and log for diving, explains the higher price tag ….

    • stainless don’t need to worry about scratches vs black anodized….and black shroud hides a lot of the stainless anyway.

    My subtle Tuna mod: https://imgur.com/a/zWIfTuC

  • I’ve looked at the Bulova Lunar Pilot 96A225 a couple of times but it’s such a big watch I’m reluctant to get it as it might look silly on my wrist. Maybe if it drops to $399 again I’ll be tempted to pull the trigger.

    • i have the lunar pilot ….it’s doesn’t look as big as the measurements …. just beware that the strap bracelet version is hard to upgrade to stainless bracelet so decide upfront which one which one you want

      • +1

Stainless every time first then buy other straps.

        • +1

yeah ….factory stainless bracelets are expensive as something to buy later and sometimes hard to get vs synthetic straps which are cheaper ….i always go stainless when i can and get other straps later ….
