Great watches, got two now (PADI and JDM editions). No need to mod them IMO.
I put a domed blue sapphire on my Padi version but stuffed the date winder (the date only turns over whilst winding a full day rotation). The crown release is easy once you know how, but also the glass never comes with the very thin clear seal that ensures that it is water proof. It's probably ok but won't be taking it into the pool/beach now I guess.
If anything another 22mm band is ok to change the look but I like the stock rubber ones, albeit a bit bulky (but so is the watch and that's the point of it).

you can buy aftermarket steel shrouds on ebay/aliexp. different colors etc. they look allot better then the plastic ones
