I see you bought 5 of them :p

They broke it into 5 pieces and had to reassemble it

      • Pretty sure they're all just Exodia heads though.

Would check reviews to see if write speeds are actually good. USB 3.2 doesn't mean anything.

Edit: seems slow as shit: https://goughlui.com/2022/08/13/quick-review-kingston-datatr…

The 100mb/s read is acceptable. The 15mb/s write is atrocious.

Having said that it's also $11…

        SMR USB :)

It would be a great deal last year but now nvme ssd just blow it away…can't believe 1TB 990pro was just $55

And add an enclosure. It's still 500% more cost. And much larger. If you're just copying a bunch of word docs and photos, it's kinda overkill.

Really they're different products for different use cases.

          • @incipient: Aye. Just got an enclosure for a 2TB m.2 and it never leaves my sight. But usb sticks i feel are far more dispensable. It's probably because of novelty vs ubiquity too maybe?

          • @incipient: It's not ideal for photos because the write speed is really slow. 15MB/s write…. majority of my SD cards can be read at a much faster speed.
128GB… that's big enough to have some ISO files.

            • +2

@netsurfer: And not to forget about using Ventoy on it too (TO get multiple Bootable image/iso files on same USB).

$11 shipping in sydney. that kind of kill the deal.

  • What is the fastest read/write drive under $30?

    • +3

Maybe Samsung Bar Plus 128GB (400MB/s sequential read, 75MB/s sequential write). Though if you are after speed, go for cheap SSD.

  • Have I missed something about Umart and MSY being the same company now - or do they just copy each other websites ..???

    • +6

      Umart bought MSY.

      • Best thing is they fixed the MSY website, it was so shit before.

  • I remember like 12 years ago would have bought usb thumb drive on eBay (eagerly bidding) and import from HK.

These are AMAZINGLY compatible with OEM car audio systems.
I've had dozens of people come to me asking for a USB stick for their cars built in entertainment system, the worst (most picky) of which was Suzuki.
These work in EVERYTHING i've thrown them into.

Super fast read speeds, and while the write is SLOW, it's faster than any headunit will need.
USB 3.2 drive with what I'm guessing is flawless USB2.0 compatibility for qnix and such running in cars.

  • I have the 64gb version, slow write speeds is an understatement …. 50 GBs of "linux ISOs" in …. one hour !!!!

    • I also have the 64gb version, if I use it on my laptop that uses AHCI it is pretty slow, write speeds of like 20-30mbs but I also have another laptop that uses intel Rapid storage and on that one, I get like 75-80mbs write speeds. Both laptops use the same kind of NVME drives.

  • One of the faster USBs

Seems highly misleading, why put this in the OP? Hopefully enough comments to let people know the speeds are pretty poor.

  • What's a better Write/Read speed option, are there any USB4 sticks out yet?

  • Price dropped by $1 for Umart
