Although another grocery item that has been hit recently by inflation, this variety of Dolmio 'Extra' pasta sauce is at a relatively good price, especially Subscribe and Save, and given the 'convenience' factors of 'ready-made' and 'free delivery' for Prime members.

Coles and Woolworths currently are selling for $4.00 a jar. https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/758314/dol… and https://www.coles.com.au/product/dolmio-extra-italian-herb-p…

  • Fry up some onions and garlic, plonk in a tin of tomatoes and add some herbs. A million times more delicious and cheaper than jarred sauce.

These used to be $2 on special.
Just get the Aldi stuff ($1.40 probably $1.70 now..)
Also not hard to add your own ingredients and Italian herbs.

    • +1

$1.75 this time last year. Unfortunately, like most things, no longer.

        Yeah that's all it's worth.
        Agree, inflation and price gouging.

Time and fuel goin to Aldi is irrelevant if
        - going there anyway to buy other groceries
        - and on way past

Doubtful that anyone could do many of their groceries from Amazon alone, maybe just the odd special they match the supermarket prices, and people only benefit from the extra subscribe and pay discount. Depends where you live I guess.

the operative words are "used to be"…… Plus the cost of time and fuel to go to Aldi to buy ingredients/their generic sauce, when Amazon offers 'free delivery'

    • +1

Dolmios tastes $1 better than Aldis tho.

i remember making pasta sauce for the first time, it said 3 cloves garlic and i didnt know the difference between a bulb and a clove. It was very potent!

    • To be fair, every time a recipe calls for “x cloves of garlic” I always double at least.. just not as much as you

  • +1

These are $2.40 at Coles starting Wednesday 2/8 for anyone following. Hopefully Amazon will match and be $2.16 S&S.

Used to be $2 quite often, all they are worth tbh.
The Aldi ones for $1.39 are fine, they are more expensive now too.
