Worth noting that it's not a PlayAnywhere title so you have to purchase for PC and Xbox separately unfortunately.

Or get it on game pass ultimate for both platforms

    • +1

      sure is

    • +3

It's because there are differences between the PC and Xbox versions:

      • PC includes all Halo games (up to Halo 4)
      • Xbox includes all Halo games (up to Halo 4), except Halo ODST and Halo Reach. If you purchase these separately, they will appear within MCC.

This is because the original MCC release didn't include Halo ODST and Halo Reach, these were added as DLC later. The PC version however included all games since release.

The Game Pass version includes all games.

        Kinda strange

      • +1

That's… annoying. They should just include Reach and ODST for you Xbox players.

I got it (again) on Steam for the Deck the other week at this price too, so if you're preferring the Steam version, wait and it'll be back again.

Never been super into Halo (beat the first one forever ago, played a bit of the second and third with buds, but that's it), bought the MCC off CDKeys when I got my Xbox One in mid 2016 for $15. Stellar collection then, even moreso now with this including ODST and Reach (they were not, and are not, when I bought mine), very good value and strongly recommended to someone jumping over to Xbox from PlayStation to catch up.

I purchased it on Xbox "back in the day" when it first released on Xbox One.
On PC I'm using game pass but would purchase on steam in the future for the mods.

Whenever I use the custom game browser and join a game, it's always completely insane, no idea what's going on in those modded maps lol

  • +1

Ahh if only I could go back and relive Halo CE

    • +1

      You can with MCC ;)

      • +1

I meant reliving it for the first time :)

        • +2

True. I still remember how amazing it was in campaign level 2, where they crash land on the ring, with that huge open area.

  • +1

Won't be the same without Jock.

  • +1

    $8 at CeX + $3 shipping

    • +2

Best way to go, or marketplace etc. Easy to resell.

    • +1

Physical is lacking ODST and Reach, so buck fiddy more for two more games.

  • Is it correct that you have to install the whole MCC (100+ GB) to play any of the games on XBox? I remember wanting to play one of them in local co-op and it seemed like it needed the whole thing installed…then had to uninstall as it was using too much space.

    • +1

AFAIK that's still the case, been about 2 years since I played on Xbox though, but unlikely to have changed.

    • +1

I think once it gets to the ‘ready to play’ Mark you can load it up and manage which parts you want to install.

  • Playing Halo on a Retroid 3+ with streaming has been a revelation.

We have GPU but the Halo Masterchief Collection was too good to pass up when it last came up for $12.48 back in June - great price then, great price now.

  • +1

As someone who never had an Xbox and has never played Halo, but tend to generally like a good FPS, is this with getting? It is it more for the nostalgia of those who have played Halo before?

    • +2

I'd say if you've never played the Halo series before this is probably the best way to play them, I would say it's definitely worth checking out for this price and it's not just for nostalgia reason, I reckon they hold very well since this is a remaster of the original games.

I liked them for great gunplay, fun weapons, epic musical score, great ai enemies, great maps and online multiplayer (which I think can still be played).

    • If you like FPS then it's 100% worth getting. Plus it's 12 bucks for six games, even if you hate four of the games you'll still get your money's worth.

    • I'm a casual fps player, I enjoyed the Halo MCC (In particular Halo Reach/H4 and ODST)

  • +1

Great deal. Minus Halo 3 which they didn't redo so it is a bit jarring after playing through Halo 1 and 2 again.

    • Yep which is unfortunate because it's one of the best stories

      • Yeah it is.

  • Will this run well in steam deck, ?
