  • Is it the same price for dome 1224a?
    Does anyone have any experience with the 12mp at night reading number plates?

    • Can’t talk about reading number plates at night but I had to install a dome one and they are a pain in the butt if you want to take it apart after you click it in, unless I’m missing something.
      Also the frame rate is lower than the 4k.

    • I don't have experience but I'd say you have the same chance as any other camera not setup for it - zero. Reolink doesn't give you the controls you need to adjust shutter speed etc. The only one that may have a chance is CX410 but is only 4MP. We're all hoping for a CX810/CX820.

    • Coupon doesn't work for the dome version $167.03 -> https://reolink.com/au/product/rlc-1224a/

  • Cheapest way to hook these up is the following:

    (More common)
    POE camera - poe injector - non poe router

    Or

    (Less common)
    POE camera - poe router.

    Probably best to get a Poe router

    • Why not a POE injector? Similar to Ubiquiti access points.

      • Unless you’re using a non Poe router it’s best to avoid it and use a Poe router instead. You cut out the middleman, so less messy.

        Ubiquiti have Poe routers…

    • Assuming you have more than one camera, why not just get a PoE switch? They're so cheap

      • Poe switch is a little bit more expensive than a Poe injector, but definitely a better choice for multiple camera setup with a non Poe router. Ideally just get a Poe router if you don’t already have one.
