[PreOrder] Samsung Galaxy Z 5 Series: $500 Trade-in Bonus, $550 off Fold5 1TB, $400 off Flip5 - Postpaid Cust Only @ Telstra

120

Just saw this in my email and sounds decent, you're getting essentially 1k if you Trade-In AND Pre-order one of the new flip phones? Am I understanding this correctly? Depending on what phone you trade in you potentially get $1300 worth of value/discount off a new samsung flip phone through telstra? For a flip 5 you're getting almost the entire cost of the the phone off, great if you've got an older eligible phone to trade in.

Official details through telstra site below:

  • Looks like you already have to have a postpaid telstra plan of some description, which kills the value somewhat.

    • Yea, only good for any of us that are already on Telstra as the rest probably wouldn't want to switch into telstra JUST for this.

      • So targeted then?

        • Nah it's available to new Telstra customers as well, it's on their website publicly.

  • +2

Unless you need it urgently, better wait as it's not a huge update from last gen, hence price will fall very soon

    • Fold 5 under $1000? Is it possible?

      • +2

Why not, just wait couple of years

  • Is there a telstra staff discount?

    • no, but if you work in sales contact your local samsung sales rep, they'll give you a 50% off code the flip or fold. they do it every year

      • Can you please elaborate?

        • I found a flyer online from last year. From Aug 11 2022 retail staff could get half price folds and flips if they undergo training. Will probably be repeated. Dont think regular telstra staff get anything

          • @Kanjus: even our jb staff who arent in sales signed up to do the training and got the 50% off code lol. i think it doesnt matter where you are as long as your company is affiliated in the sales of samsung products

  • the trade-in value for my phone (S23 Ultra) - JB better price :P
    and also, get extra $500.

Upgrade faster with immediate credit. Trade in your old phone before August 23rd and get trade-in credit PLUS a $500 off JB coupon to redeem on a new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5.

    • This is 1.05k off plus trade in so double the value of jb hi fi

  • Can someone please confirm my maths for the Flip5 512GB?

    120.74 X 12 = 1448.88 (total cost of repayment over 12 months)

    -400 pre-order bonus
    -500 bonus credit
    -475 Flip4 256GB trade-in value
    = 73.88 out of pocket

The fine print could be the existing plan requirement. I'm on a grandfathered Family and Friends plan. Not sure if it qualifies.

    • +1

      i think the total 1448.88 already includes the 400 discount. (1849 Full price for 512Gb - 400) ~1449

    • Yeah, would love if that was true, but i think it's $473 out of pocket

  • so you need to stay at least 12 month to get the 500 bonus credit?

    • Nope you dont, says on the product page

  • I have fold 2 but the screen is not 100% fold flat. Would that be the problem with the trade in?

  • Can the credit be used to pay the outstanding handset cost once you disconnect the plan after first month?

    • no idea, thats probably a question you'd have to ask telstra
