  • you know they have ongoing deal with 35$ for 2 all you can eat over on scoopon, sure its abit limited than this deal, but id say from personal experience most of it is there, and its all you can eat, with time limit ofcourse.

place is good and jam packed on most nights, abit hard to find though. I had to book a MONTH in advance, that is 24/7 during entire month is booked out.

    • Ah, yes just saw that, but the scoopon one is unlimited sushi only?

      • yeh thats the main difference, i guess theres no stopping you here from ordering 10 mains? also they rarely pick up calls due to how busy the place is, best way to book is email.

        • That's what I was thinking lol, 10 mains, how could eat that much, actually it's 5 mains PP, can't even finish 2 mains myself!!

  • Fantastic deal I just need someone to share it with as i do not want to be a gluten by my self lol

    • Well you could always be non-glutton. ;)

  • ive bought this deal and eaten there before, had a good eating experience there but there wasnt enough food for us both lolz. We did however enjoy the dressing they put on the salad, not sure what it was but that stood out for me, so delicious.

some of the best sushi i have had was at coogee and chatswood.

im looking forward to the $2 sushi train promo this weekend though.

  • I dine out a lot. Tried this place a couple of month ago using a Scoopon voucher. Service was very slow albeit friendly, and the food was bland, not worth it even with the discount.

  • I have 1 noob question: this deal is for 2 people, do i have to eat 10 main dishes or all of $300 in 1 time, or i can, say have 3 dishes next week, and then another 3 dishes a week after and so on?
    Thank you in advance.

    • ummm, i would think its eaten all in 1 sitting, I dont think any place would let you do what you had suggested or thought. Unless you are a big eater which it seems you are not then be prepared to bring someone with you who can eat it all otherwise it would be a waste of money on your part.

And thinking again about your question are you planning to eat alone ? not sure how that would fare in your case if so, give em a call to ask.

      • I was planning to eat with my girlfriend; however, $65 for just 1 sitting is too much for both of us ;(

  • its really not much food at all , not for an average person though, my wife wanted to order more off the menu lolz. it helps if you really love eating sushi though.

anyhow you have 3hrs to decide, take the plunge if you want to try it, not sure if you can email or ring them in time to get your answer before you decide to buy the deal.

    goodluck.

  • Sorry but shouldn't it be $300 for $65…Just saying.

  • Can you eat 10 main dishes? :D

"one of the Best Japanese restaurants in Sydney CBD area" Seriously ??
Wasabibistro is always on Group buying websites. (At the moment, Ouffer has $35 deal for unlimited sushi+drinks for two people). I am tempted to try but the reviews are quite bad… Most common one being 'there are reasons why this place is on Group buying websites 365 days a year'
Keen to get other OZbargainers's review on this place.

I went with some friends to Wasabi Bistro before on one of these Group buying vouchers for all you can eat sushi. Probably one of the WORST experiences I've ever had at a restaurant.

Because we were using the voucher we were treated like second class customers. It took 1 hour for drinks to arrive and almost 2 hours before the first of any food arrived!! It then proceeded to take another 20 mins before any other food arrived after that, by which point we were starving and fuming! Some of the staff were incredibly rude and didn't seem to care that we had waited 2 hours for any food. Essentially, the "all you can eat" was nonsense because by the time we got a couple of dishes we were informed that the kitchen was closing soon….even though we waited hours for our food to arrive. So we definitely didn't eat all we could.

The sushi itself was sub-par, with the rice being incredibly sour… when we questioned this it was because they ran out of normal sushi rice and were mixing it with long grain rice which doesn't stick together so they needed to use vinegar to bind it together. As the rice was so disgusting, my friend started just eating the topping and leaving some of the rice behind, at which point a waitress came up and gave her a dirty look and said "this is all you can eat sushi not sashimi…you have to eat the rice!".

Anyway, long story short… the owner came up to us at the end of the meal and sort of apologised after we explained the numerous issues. He asked us how we would rate our dining experience out of 10… and to be kind my friend said it was a 4/10 (I would have given in a 0!!). At this point the owner scrunched up his face and just walked off. Worst experience ever! I would never go there again!

    • Thanks for sharing. Definitely a place to Avoid. Much rather spend 35 bucks on somewhere else.

    • my guessing is that at least one of you and your friends was Asian (but not Japanese). it might be one of the reasons you were treated like second class customers (apart from using a voucher). these days, even aussies are aware of japanese's style of manner.

Due to my observation, this restaurant is operated by Korean but not Japanese, which may explain the service style…

    • From my numbers of experiences, I was served well and the food was all excellent! There's nothing I can blame… To be honest, I am expecting Wasabi Bistro to issue a voucher for all-you-can-eat buffet.

The only time I was served slowly was a busy Saturday. So the advice is : DO NOT BOOK WEEKENDS (Friday and Saturday nights)!!

But I have to say that this time the deal is not as good as before for these reasons:

      1. Previously, I have bought a 65 dollar voucher, which allows two people to eat everything on menu till full… (We even had uncountable ice cream after we've already filled up with food). However, this time the 65 dollars are limited to 10 courses, which is not as flexible.

      2. For Sushi lovers, the previous 35 dollar voucher for all-you-can-eat SUSHI is much worthy. It is still available in Ouffer for another 14 hours. If you prefer this voucher, please allow me to share my link with you :) http://experiences.ouffer.com/r/uu2740779

I still have several vouchers (19 for $50 value of food) on hand and will book days later :)

I agree with the above comment. Exactly the same thing happened to us. These deals are a scam. We also used a groupon/scoopon voucher and got there at 7.30. Our time limit for all you can eat was until 9.30pm and guess what ? our first dish of sushi only arrived at 8.45. This is not authentic Japanese sushi but instead a korean derivation where the rice used is long-grain rice and is also quite sour. The staff barely speak english and have appalling customer service skills - they walk away mid sentence. I would be weary of this "deal" (read: scam).

By the way calling this "one of the best sushi resaturants in Sydney" sounds like serious advertising journalese. Just my two cents.

  • Going there this Friday, let you know how it goes.

Get ready for an evening of disappointment ! lol

    • You may be served very slowly on Friday nights… I suggest you booking on weekday nights…

    • I got the 7 course meals instead. Food came out timely except for dessert, noticed the service on the other tables were slower than what you would like. Food was alright.

I had mixed reaction to this place. I bought groupon deal $35 for 2 all you can eat.

Basically you have to finish the sampler first before you can order further. Takes about 20 mins for them to bring sampler out. Then when you finish you are allowed to order 5 more choices at a time and you need to finish that before ordering again.

Food was hit and miss. Liked the wagyu beef and salmon. Order the most expensive dishes :) and order with two different waiters to try get food faster. Takes about 20-30 minutes between order to table so that eats up a lot of the 90 minute time limit.

Didn't have issue with sour rice when I went. Most food was great actually. Just takes a while to get to eat.

Service was ok because they are swamped with orders. They don't speak English well and are Korean so maybe Korean OzBargainers could get a leg up on.

What can you expect when you are dining with everyone with the coupon! I do note they try to serve non coupon customers promptly (seated separately?)

Recently there has been lots of poor reviews (mainly from people with coupons).

I work close to wasabi bistro and noticed that when they first opened, it was relatively quiet. Hence I thought they were doing these spreets deals to try and boost word of mouth and build a customer base. Its extremely disappointing to find that they haven't learnt from failed businesses in the past that treating a scoopon customer like crap will do more damage in the future.

  • I've been there on a set menu groupon and can say I did not have as bad an experience as above. From what I remember, it actually seemed very quick because they were trying to turnover tables.

Thanks for the info. I'll give all-you-can-eat Groupons a wide berth (unless it's Churrascos or something normally like that).

As above, bought this with groupon a while back, was terrible. It takes 35-40 mins for the plates to come out and you were limited with what you can choose and the amount you can choose each time. I was certain they group the coupon section off from the rest of the patrons and gave full paying customers preference.

    Food was average anyways.

Bad luck to those that bought it already

I went there a couple of weeks ago for the all you can eat sushi, and it was a horrible experience. My table waited 20mins for the first set of order to come out, and we had to wait another half hour for the next order. By the end of the 90 mins, we only got 2 of the 7 dishes we ordered on our 3rd order. I was still hungry at the end of the night.

Who goes out of a buffet still hungry?
