You have said so many times in past deals, yet no one cares.

        Just pointing out a fact

That is the reason I didn't buy this particular model.

        • +1

Fun fact: 4K is commonly not actually 4K, but this camera is.

4K is supposed to refer to a picture having 4000 horizontal pixels. A standard 4k picture has less than 4000 horizontal pixels (3840) but this camera has 4608.

On the other hand, a standard 4k picture is 3840x2160 pixels, or just under 8.3 million pixels in total. This camera has a resolution 4608x1728 pixels, which is a bit over 7.9 million pixels so slightly lower than full 4k resolution.

          • @klaw81:

This camera has a resolution 4608x1728 pixels,

No it hasn't. It is half that resolution and two images are stitched together…

            • +1

@jv: A technical distinction without a difference. The stitching is well executed and is presented as a single view.

The Duo is clearly designed to give an ultrawide >180 degree view, rather than the standard 16x9 aspect ratio and ~100 degree view of a typical 4k camera.

It's a simple case of horses for courses.

Very different when you try and zoom

                • +1

                  @jv: Sure, if that's a priority.

But on the other hand, it's really difficult to zoom in on things that are entirely outside a typical 16:9 field of view. And a lower resolution sensor of the same size is less prone to exposure issues and noisy night images, so again - horses for courses.

If you have a location that's ideally suited to a Duo, it's basically unmatched in performance. You'd need two separate cameras to cover the same amount of area as a single Duo, and a stitched image from two matched cameras in a single unit is easier to view, easier to cable, and generally cheaper as well.

If the feature set of the Duo doesn't suit your needs, that's fine - don't buy one. It's a somewhat niche product that suits particular applications, but is virtually unmatched in those circumstances.

                    I didn't.

      Agreed, it’s only 0.18k…

    AUD price in title please

    • Hi, this is an AUD price.

  • Better get poe version. You will end up hard wiring them anyway. These antennas can't catch sh**!!
My door bell is literally 3 feet from my front camera (both outside the maindoor) never has problem with wifi connection. This duo 2 cam is so finicky!!

  • Anybody tried to integrate it with Blue Iris?

    • Yes, works fine. Two streams available, with sound - I have POE version which I understand is identical to this from an integration perspective

  • OP any deal for duo 2 floodlight?

  • +2

    Code for the POE version?

    • +1

Also keen on a poe version.

I have this. Works ok. Nice wide angle albeit stitching two videos. I like how I only needed to install one camera to cover a large FOV

  • +1

OP , it will be always better to clearly state the date period as people may miss out

    • Okay, I'll mention this next time
