  • Good price!

  • Ozbargained!

The seller doesn't have that many left.

  • OOS

  • -8

    got 2!

    • Ask them if you will be getting a 1tb.. otherwise you may be disappointed on delivery.

  • +4

If I recalled correctly, they sent out 1TB instead of 2TB last time

    • +2

      Just checked the Order Details:

      MZ-V8P500BW ⋅ 2TB

Item Model Number is for 500GB, let's see what arrives…

      • Noticed that as well. Even their 990 pro 1TB listing has the product code of the 2TB model.

  • +5

I wonder if anyone actually got it for this price. I clicked on this deal the moment it was posted and the item was removed from my cart automatically. It looks like it was a price error that they fixed pretty darn quickly

  • +3

I reckon Price Error, if you check his listing, he has 1tb for $104.

    So watch out buyers!

  • Definitely prices around the wrong way.

  • I just placed an order and it went through??

  • Update: back in stock ! 5 available / 54 sold

    Grabbed one!
    Let's Gooooo! OzB LoL

    • Nope still out of stock for the 2TB variant (only the $500GB one is in stock)

      • +2

I thought it was a 'blink-and-you-miss-it' kinda moment
no harm done if they cancel, I have printed the listing, taken screenshots for my record :)

  • Still can buy.

Edit: Ok OOS. I managed to grab one though.

  • Looks like in stock again with more than 12 available

    • How does it just keep auto-restocking within seconds?

  • Gone

  • keep refreshing, the stock is coming back again in few mins.

  • +2

It looks like the seller is going to pull the same stunt as last time by sending the 1TB model instead. Hmmm worth the hassle of going through the refund process?

    • What happens in this situation? just return and refund?

      • +1

Covered by eBay money back guarantee

    • Interesting how now the 500GB is out of stock. Maybe people will get the 500GB instead?

  • I got one. Order details say "2tb". Lets wait and see.

  • +5

Goodness Ozbargain, you are making me buy all these 990 and 980 SSDs at these ridiculously cheap prices. What am I going to do with all these SSDs?

    • +4
    • I'll give you $10 for them if you pay shipping 😉👍

  • Cheap

  • Dang missed out

  • Out of stock

  • Ahh, way cheaper than Prime day :(

    • +1

Prime was real deal. This was a price error that is gonna be cancelled.

      • +1

Can confirm, got a mail from them cancelling the order, stating it was a price error

  • +1

Didn't these at one point have a firmware issue like the 990 pro? It would pay to upgrade the firmware immediately.

    • I believe it was mostly ones that produced before a certain date, but yeah it always pays to update/check them with the magician program first.

    • I purchased a 990 pro during Prime Deal a couple weeks back. Mine came with the latest firmware, but always good to check

  • +3

Seller has updated the listing now with corrected model numbers… The listing that was being linked to is back to $249 but now back in stock, whereas the 500GB is now $104 but sold out.
    Order cancellations incoming…

    • +1

      true

  • +1

Price appears to have been updated to $250 for the 2tb

    • +1

      Sounds like they did a Ninja.edit 😉

  • +3

I don't need it but i still feel like i am missing out

    • +3

Pretty sure they won't honour it anyway

  • Anyone get a screenshot of price? Would love to use for price protection

    • yep, and the eBay order details say "2tb", and confirmation email states: Storage Capacity: 2tb.

    • +1

genuinely curious, if a screenshot works for price protection, then what’s stopping anyone from editing the price on the screenshot and submitting a claim for it?

      • +2

I guess that’s fraud? The potential of being caught. I once submitted a claim and they contacted the business to verify.

        • fair enough. they have limits too right? as in the number of claims or dollar value of claims per year

      • +1

Ebay also has their own internal database with the product price and price changes recorded so they can detect fraud you fake the screenshot.

  • Dammit! Missed it.

    • +6

You only missed being sent a 500GB drive and the hassle of sending it back TBH.

  • +2

Just received cancellation email from them.

    • +1

      and it begins…

      got mine as well.

    • yup just got mine

I used the ebay plus code does anyone know if this will also be reset when I get the refund or is this something I will need to chase with ebay?

    • Same, cancelled. Oh well…

  • cancelled haha

  • +2

    Hi Richard,

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused by a recent system glitch. Unfortunately, there has been a sync error in which the price and title of a synced product do not match, rendering us unable to fulfill your order at this time.

Regrettably, we have no choice but to cancel the order, and we assure you that the refund process is already in progress. You will receive a notification of the order cancellation containing the reason as 'buyer request'. Please note that the reason for cancellation will be automatically populated in this case, although we understand that this is not the actual case.

We understand the frustration this situation may cause, and we want to assure you that we are actively working with both eBay and our internal team to rectify this glitch promptly. Our priority is to resolve this issue to ensure a seamless shopping experience for you and all our valued customers.

Once again, we extend our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our customer support team, who are ready to assist you.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work towards a resolution.

I highly doubt that the reason for cancellation was automatically populated with 'buyer request'. Most likely selected by the store to prevent negative feedback and/or affect their seller ratings.

    • +3

yeah but it's fine honestly, cant expect them to lose so much money from a mistake. they're not amazon

      • +8

I don't have an issue with them cancelling. My issue is them lying about the cancellation reasoning and shifting the blame to buyers.

        • I'm a bit sceptical of this.

They could be using this "pricing error" to obtain credit to restock parts, then file change of mind later on, while new stock turns over.

The effect being you become a creditor.

I would submit a dispute to let the provider be aware.

I have my suspicions that CentreCom were doing this to me a few weeks ago.

          • +2

@bjt: You have too much imagination. We know it is a pricing error. It's not the first time a pricing error happened on feeBay.

Store still needs to pay for transaction processing fees and most payment gateways don't like chargebacks.

            • @netsurfer: Who cares. It's in the interests of the customer to dispute the transaction if it's not immediately refunded.

        • +1

There is unfortunately no way for the seller to cancel an order due to a price error, regardless of if the error is genuine or if it's a bait and switch without shifting blame to the customer if they want to avoid fees.

Other sellers have in the past have used problem with delivery address to cancel orders en masse while also shift the blame to ozbargain and avoid fees see - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/661017

          • @dazza826: But then the customer becomes a creditor, see above.

The seller better get moving with the refunds because it's in the interests of the buyer to immediately dispute the transaction to ensure they get their money back in a timely manner (or at all, if they liquidate).

      • +2

Amazon does not even fulfill all those cheap prices :(

    • Pitchfork time everyone! 😉

very nicely drafted email to put reason as buyer request to cancel. total dodgy.

  • Just received order cancellation email:

I suppose it was either this or having to deal with a ton of reports to eBay saying that the wrong item was received.

  • Just got an email that I will get a refund for my order.

  • +1

Good advertising for a company. List at a low price get people interested in your otherwise unknown company, cancel all the orders, add people to your database……. Profit! 😁

  • +2

It's not great for them either as they still are out time + fees that are charged even if no sale.

Just a reminder you can still leave feedback on cancelled orders if you wish

Not sure if you have to wait 7 days to leave negative feedback if you feel that way inclined.

Go to purchase history. If it doesn't show, it means eBay has hidden the order. Select [show hidden items] in the drop-down menu; just above the first item order history list; left hand side. Copy the item number.

Open new tab and paste this link:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/fdbk/leave_feedback

Put in the item number in the [search your orders] box; just above the first item feedback list; right hand side. The listing should now appear and for you to leave your feedback.

    • Entitled desperate bloke

    • +3

      Hold your horses…

assuming you are not leaving a positive feedback for the seller…
      then,
the eBay feedback page will be greyed out and tells you:

You need to wait 7 days before you can leave neutral or negative Feedback for this seller.

      take it easy mate…

    • It depends on the eBay store type the company has. For large stores, eBay lets them delete / cancel orders without needing customer's approval and customer won't be able to see the orders. Smaller stores… well, I guess they could attract negative feedbacks.

    • +1

Why would you want to leave a feedback and quite possibly a negative one when you know damn well that it was a price error to begin with?

Leaving a negative feedback because you won’t be able to rip some company off is just not on.
We are here to search for bargains and not some lowlife wanting to take a small company’s advantage then attempt to tarnish their reputation when we didn’t get what we want.

      • You will receive a notification of the order cancellation containing the reason as 'buyer request'. Please note that the reason for cancellation will be automatically populated in this case, although we understand that this is not the actual case.

You don't see a problem here? Asking the consumer to collude in twisting facts and bypass Ebay policies so that this "small company" can avoid fees, and quite possibly force consumers into becoming company creditors?

        • When dazza826 leave their comment, he wasn’t referring to what reason the seller put for the cancellations I.e. ‘buyer’s request. Didn’t the people who first put their orders in knew that this was a pricing error? I had a chance to order but I didn’t because I knew it would be just a waste of time. People got all worked up after knowing their orders got cancelled.

What should the seller do? Honour all the orders? Put yourself in their shoes. If you were the seller would you honour the orders?

          • @FrugalNotStingy: You cannot tell me that people "knew that this was a pricing error".

            • @bjt: Don’t argue for arguing sake. Even the OP’s comment stated upfront that this deal was potential price error. And please don’t come back with "the OP only said ‘potential’ but not certain". We all know that this was a pricing error from the get-go as there were similar Samsung SSD price error deals in the past.

Ask the guys who had placed an order after reading this post whether they knew this was a pricing error. You can’t deny the fact that they wanted to give it a crack to see if they could score a cheap Samsung 980 Pro.

              • @FrugalNotStingy: I didn't know it was a pricing error.

After prime day, when the SK Hynix P41 2TB went for $178, SSD prices have been falling, I didn't even consider it as possibly being a pricing error, given the Samsung 980 isn't a high end Gen 4 and the market has moved to Gen 5.

                So QED.

None of this is to the point I'm making, you are trying to dissuade people for supplying negative reviews for the vendors dishonesty with Ebay, by getting all puffy and angry and making false accusations.

                • @bjt: I wasn’t trying to dissuade people. People can do whatever they want. If it makes you feel better as a way of getting back at them for not honouring the order(s), sure. It’s just if I were one of the people who got their order cancelled I wouldn’t leave a negative review because I have a better conscience and moral than that.

  • +2

"Regrettably, we have no choice but to cancel the order, and we assure you that the refund process is already in progress. You will receive a notification of the order cancellation containing the reason as 'buyer request'. Please note that the reason for cancellation will be automatically populated in this case, although we understand that this is not the actual case."

Isn't that the definition of lying? Would that affect the buyer's "trustworthy" points if it is 'buyer's request'?

    • Yeah they should document the reason as the seller's request/error…

    • Depends on how you look at it. Assuming the customers have better morale and higher honour than the store, then customers would elect (and request) cancellation of the purchases (due to pricing errors). However, we are used to better stores providing store credits or honouring deals.

It's relative. Myer feeBay store accepted my order, waited 2 weeks and cancelled my order claiming no stock available. Then, a couple of weeks after that, re-list the item on feeBay at a higher price. Myer was able to cancel my order without my approval. Not able to find any trace of the order so no feedback option. I did contact Myer and the customer service rep basically said live with it (but in a nicer way of course). So, this is better than cancel 2 weeks later.

      • I honestly think automatically populating reason for cancellation for any reason other than the actual truth is definitely not only incorrect but also untruthful.

The fact that ebay allows prepopulation by vendor is actually quite disturbing as it would have been done without consent.

  • Got to be in it to win it I guess, but what's the success rate on these price errors? Who's honestly thinking this deal is going to pay out?

  • I'm not sure if this relevant or not - this is $119 in Amazon JP
