HN, Domaine, JM… Different names, same douchebag owner. Hard no!

Pretty much everyone in big business is a douche. If you want to buy from a decent person, go to a small computer shop.

Millions of people buy from someone that made his already struggling employees urinate in bottles and stole their tips. That's pretty heinous if you ask me.

      • I understand your point but there are many levels of "douchiness". Gerry is next level top tier.
Others are no where near so we have a choice to pick the ones that don't abuse taxpayers funded jobkeeper etc etc

I'd kinda put "stealing tips and not providing toilet breaks" to individual people that are likely living on or close to minimum wage who barely get by pay cheque to pay cheque, as significantly worse. And this behaviour has been sustained over years.

Jobseeker as a whole was fairly well abused by a lot of companies and distributed across the population.

@incipient: Please raise the awareness for Amazon in their thread. Basically "look over there" doesn't solve Gerry's douchiness. It's more than Jobkeeper. Here's a list :
Asic sues Harvey Norman over misleading and deceptive ads

Keeping Jobkeeper, pretty much rorting from taxpayers like you and me

Complained about Aussies buying from internet and not buying from his stores, lobbied for import GST even for low value items

When customers were being rejected by Interest Free cards because of bad credit he allowed people to apply for Flexirent, posing as businesses.

Of the billions in assets he owns though won't donate to charity. Quote: "You are helping a whole heap of no-hopers to survive for no good reason. They are just a drag on the whole community"

lobbying against the very livelihoods of their own workers with real wage cuts.
asking young Aussies to work for his side biz—The School Locker—for free due to the “busy back to school period.”

The official account mocked a suicidal ex employee with a facepalm and a waving emoji on social media.

Spent big on advertising super-deals but had extraordinarily low stocks. It was a bait n switch mechanism to get people into stores

Bullying tactics and poor treatment of suppliers

    • Lol

    • Everyone in here buys from Amazon but not Harvey Norman? Get real.

        Won't engage in Whataboutism.
The fact is Gerry is a douchebag.
Please call out Amazon when you see their deals.

  • Very tempted to get this, would this be worth the extra couple hundred compared to the Lenovo ThinkPad E14 deal? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/790354

Would get this one with $11 extra for 13 Gen processor

  • Recently got the 16" 13th gen version of this, it's a really nice unit, this price is good.

    14" 2.2K (2240x1400) IPS 300nits

300nits, why? Seems to be not the cheapest screen (2.2) and such a terrible brightness?

    • What's considered good brightness? About to buy a laptop with 350 nits. Is that an acceptable amount?

      • +1

300 is perfect for anything up to indoor use. It struggles a bit with outdoor under cover/in shade use. 350 would make shaded use a bit more comfortable. Outdoor in full sun use you'd be looking at the more 500 range.

        • Thanks mate

        • 300 is not perfect, it barely enough. You're going to have 100% brightness all the time and it would not be enough if you are near the window or have bright lights.
I, personally, would not touch anything below 400 nits, even for indoor use
