I was looking for an Open Ear headset and I found out that Oladance is releasing a new one called Oladance OWS Pro in a few days or weeks, so they are clearing out their stock. Also just to be aware, the case in this model does NOT have battery (the battery case is like $70 extra), whereas the new OWS Pro will come with a battery case.

I don't own one of these, I end up buying Shokz Openfit. So worth comparing the 2 before you jump into any purchase.

I owned the Shokz Openmove for about 3 years now, and bought these on the last time they went on sale on Amazon at this price. The Shokz openmove was a revolution for my workouts when I started using them. They immediately became something irreplaceable that I'd buy again at a heartbeat if I needed to. 3 years down the line and the batterylife was suffering. With these Oladances claiming 8 hours battery life, I gave them an opportunity. Here's my thoughts so far.

The batterylife is quite close to if not beyond quoted. It's quite good.

The sound quality has definitely been oversold over the shokz. There's definitely more bass to be found, but the mids and highs aren't as clear, and the soundstage isn't as good. Bass was never an issue for me in the first place while exercising so I never missed it, or got to appreciate the extra bass from these Oladances.

The biggest neg for me is the touch controls. For headphones being marketed to active people, these absolutely needed proper buttons. The touch controls are over sensitive and will trigger with the straps of a bike helmet sometimes, or if I'm wiping my brow with a towel at the gym. Takes me out of the moment. Really disappointed.

The fit is also not great. While I could cycle with them without them falling off, running on a treadmill I constantly had to adjust them. The Shokz would stay in place comfortably and I wouldn't even feel them on me. Once you start sweating from your brow, and it goes behind your ears, its game over. They'll move around and you'll need to readjust them or risk dropping one.

In short, if you're happy with the Shokz, stick with them. These aren't the shokz replacement. I now use these for when I walk the dogs or am sitting on the couch and don't want to disturb the wife.

    • Contact Oladance support and they can send you a fitment accessory pack. Mine is being delivered today.

  • I purchased these yesterday from Amazon.

I wonder if the ones posted here are that much better.

    • for the price & specs I doubt it, if anything you'd be better upgrading to the Shokz range down the track.

    • @krammis76, have you had a chance to try these out? Wanted to get your thoughts. I recently got a pair but they started to echo. I reset them which cleared the echo but occasionally the sound stops for a sec and comes back. It seems to happen when paired with my Garmin watch but is ok with my phone. Otherwise I like how they fit.

Hey mate only got them today actually. Have only had an hour with them and they seem good to me. Sound quality isn't as good as my pixel buds pro that i had before these. But it's decent and they sit pretty comfortable too which is exactly what i want. Haven't had any issues like you mentioned yet. Will post back if i do though!

        • Good to know. I might have just got a faulty one as I have their sports one and haven’t had any issues. Tried these as I preferred something without the band around the head.

  • How is this even a DEAL when you have these, WITH a battery?

  • I bought the OWS2, after having Shokz Openmove.
I think the sound quality on these are better - for me the Openmove would constantly move away from my temple so the sound quality varied a lot, whereas these are a lot more consistent.
However I found fitment to be an issue for me. After a while it felt as though they would fall off my ear (and a few times they did). I contacted Olandance and they are sending me a fitment accessory pack for free.
