    Amazon price-matching Toys R Us

This is a good price. Also this build a course Mario line up is due to wrap up mid-next year. You will probably also notice that these starter packs are also dwindling in who stocks them, e.g. Kmart has completely abandoned them.

So if you're thinking about it or after it, I would advise to jump on board before you end up leaving it to the last minute and have to pay RRP to get whatever is left.

    • Yeah, I regret never getting Mario and Luigi courses while they were 35

      • $35 is a good price I bought the Mario for more than $50

Also this build a course Mario line up is due to wrap up mid-next year.

I started collecting them, but they released too many to keep up with.

If I recalled correctly, there's about 7 Waves of the LEGO Super Mario sets.

Too many, RRP was a massive joke and too many sets with duplicate elements. Not even just a difference face plate on a goomba or something, just so stingy.

        Was a pretty tiring series.

      • Yep, it's overpriced the extension sets, you really have to wait until they're at super clearance to contemplate, even then, it's pretty poor value. I stuck to just the starter packs and the series of characters, that's about it.

    • hey, do you have any confirmation they are wrapping it up next year?

Googling first result - Brick Fanatics

thanks sorry i forget about google. that's essentially just information skimmed from the website from their anticipated retirement date data. i wonder if it will change as the movie did so well and if they release a sequel.

          • @cumova: Was curious myself, but couldn't find an official source on the information.

      • Yeah it's just the rumour, but I feel like it's probably true, they made way too many waves, and they're all too expensive. I don't know how the sales are, but you can see that they get discounted quite heavily and they do stay on shelves longer, unless they over produce each wave. I hope LEGO actually still makes adult themed sets from the nintendo license.

        • honestly they had heaps of waves (every 6 months i think) but each wave only had approx 5 new sets. didnt like how with one of the minifigure sets they only did 18 in a box and 2 characters only had 2 in a box making a false economy - that was scummy.
but i agree prices - they where crazy - hence large discounts. new wave is crazy overpriced again ie 71421 is 174 pieces rrp $43….

    • Might hold off selling the rest of my sets then. Sold a few off recently trying to declutter

      • I honestly doubt it would make a difference, there were only a handful of sets that's retired that has gone up, like bowser's castle. But the smaller ones haven't moved as much.

        • That one I just sold lol not for much more either

  • thanks op.

    Peaches peaches ~

  • Cheers op, been tempted at $56 before but glad I held out. Bargain!

  • when is mario/luigi gonna be around the same price?

    • Already have been last year

      • I meant same price again haha
        I missed out last year

  • Got one thanks.

  • Good deal, thanks OP, been meaning to grab a Super Mario set

  • Is this a waste if you already have LEGO® Super Mario™ Adventures with Mario Starter Course: https://www.amazon.com.au/LEGO-Adventures-Starter-71360-Buil…

    • Depends if you want to collect the characters, if not then it's materially the same way you play with it.

    • no. you want all 3 characters.

  • Can this be used with the Lego Super Mario expansion sets if I don't have the Mario starter set?

    • +1

Should be fine, most of the barcode tiles in expansion sets I believe work with the Peach character.

      • Cheers!

this is a starter course. so Yes.

      • Thank you. I managed to get one before it went OOS. I have a few expansion sets from Kmart clearance last year.
