Is there separate charge for storage vs traffic ?

    • I wouldn't think so since you're not actually storing data there iirc

Remember, this will be for the life of the product, and by my estimation, that won't be very long so don't trust it with your 'good' porn.

Well, it looks like it’s only for transfer and not storage so this might last 5 mins longer than “unlimited storage” providers

It sounds like it's 500GB of free data transfer. Doesn't sound like it renews every month

    • It says "For life" though … Does that mean we get to transfer in and store up to 500GB free storage and not have to pay any monthly fees if we left it at that ?

My read on it is that it's not stored by multicloud, they just make sure the files are synced across your current clouds. So basically if I primarily work on my OneDrive uploading files to there, Multicloud will sync those files with my GoogleDrive.

This offers 500GB of syncing traffic between the 2, so once they have synced more than 500GB between the 2 my plan will be over and I'd have to start paying for the service.

Happy to be proven wrong here

    • Comparing it to the other account types on the Plan and Pricing page, I would suggest that the 500GB is a yearly allowance.

      The other plans listed are:

      • $0 = 5GB /Month
      • $119.88 $59.99 = 1200GB /Year
      • $239.76 $99.98 = 2400GB /Year
      • It would be nice if that was the case, I'm doubting it just because those plans call out that they are an amount of traffic per month/year, this just says "lifetime". So I feel it's a once off allowance

        • I will just add that this is still a good deal, especially if you are starting a new cloud service and want to transfer a bunch of data from your existing cloud drive to a new one

      • I was going to update my comment, but it had already been replied to:

Comparing the price on the offer page "FREE! / $ 39.99" to the other account types on the Plan and Pricing page, I would suggest that the 500GB is a yearly allowance.

        The other plans listed are:

        Monthly

        • $0 = 5GB /Month
        • $9.99 = 100GB /Month
        • $19.98 $17.99 = 200GB /Month

        Yearly

        • $119.88 $59.99 = 1200GB /Year
        • $239.76 $99.98 = 2400GB /Year

If you don't know what is being sold in a 'free' transaction, then you're the commodity being sold.

  • Guys if you got an android, You could also use the Folder Sync app (from Google play store), there's a free and a paid version of that one. In the case that MultCloud does not work out for you.

  • rsync / rclone?

    • This is for cloud transfers. File transfer will be done on their servers.

rclone will download/upload on your network (unless you are using only google drive on rclone and using the cloud transfer flag)

      • just rent a cheap usa vps and run rclone/rsync, much cheaper :/

        • +1

Yeah, but this is free (up to 500GB - per account lifetime x many accounts)
          Cheap is expensive than Free

        • any recommendations for a vps?

          • @axcairns: What budget, specs and location.

I can recommend, or the lovely people at lowendtalk/lowendbox post loads
