    Sydney Tools - Trade Night

So can I trade anything or does it need to be in working order?

    • You need to spend to get points. The “Trade Night” refers to that it is targeted for. Those people in a trade,

      • Those people in a trade

So I need to first commence the trade?

        I don't get it.

  • I don't quite get this…
I went to sydneytools.com.au/p/points and it points to this terminology of who is able to get points:
"Account Holder is open to a corporation, firm, partnership or any other legal entity"

I'm just a normal person who does DIY, am I eligible?

    • +1

      Yes.

      • I'll contact the store and ask because I fear…
"No, as an individual, you are not considered a legal entity. Legal entities are typically organizations, corporations, firms, partnerships, or other entities that are recognized by the law as having a distinct legal existence separate from their individual members or owners."

        • +1

They identify your "account" by the mobile number :)

    • +1

You spend money, they make an account in your name with your mobile number and email attached, the store credit goes on to that account and you have 3 years (usually) to spend on almost anything else they sell. Simples.

    • +1

trade nights they often have the reps present, they might do sausage sizzle, Total tools had sausage and beer at the last one I went to. DIY people don't buy expensive tools e.g makita made in japan sliding saw for $900 vs Ozito for $150.

      • i joined today and bought a sliding saw - pretty painless and seems to be the only way to get a decent discount on makita stuff - $599 10" dual bevel compound slider - every other tool i have is a cheapie or second hand - but when it comes to sliding saws i dont think the cheapies are worth bothering with - too much side to side play when extended - anyway a rare splurge on a big brand from me - felt kind of dirty in a good way…

Total Tools has the same deal, check which one has best price for your choice of tools.

Total tools last time had 12 mths to spend vs Sydney tools it was 3 years …..

      • Yeah but also Total Tools applies to sale items, Sydney Tools doesn't

  • Dewalt or Milwaukee?
    Need a new impact wrench

    buyer beware from T&C;
    Where Points cannot be earned
An item advertised in a concurrent promotion at a reduced sale price or with a bonus will be excluded from accumulating Bonus Points.

  • Just be careful - this happened to me at a previous trade night:
I needed a clamp and found a suitable one for about 18 dollars displayed price.
Paid for it, but when I checked the receipt it was charged at 22 dolars.
I asked for explanation, the chap said that this is the price in the system.
We went to the shelf and I have pointed to the 18 dollars price.
He removed the price ticket and went back to the desk, saying that someone forgot to replace the price…
Hmm… does this mean they jacked the prices just before the trade night?

He spent about 10 minutes trying to give the clamp to me at the price on the shelf ticket.
He could not do it, said only the manager can do it but he is gone for the day.
I gave up in disgust and never when there after that.

    • I had my eyes on a Makita vacuum that swear was priced around $770.
      Currently its priced at $819.
However, this seems to be the case for Total Tools too.
So not sure if its a new edition of the vacuum or if Makita increased their price or if both Sydney and Total decided to jack up the price before sale…

      • i have noticed prices have been going up on all tools. its the new normal.
