I had a price watch set at this price and got triggered.

I've found this milk jug to be really helpful in getting consistently well steamed milk for latte art. The temperature sensor on the side allows you to end steaming at exactly the right time (typically 65 degrees), no batteries needed.

Fits enough milk for a 350-380ml cup, with a 36-44ml espresso shot.

Note that in the previous deal there's a report of this failing in a few months. I already pulled the trigger this time. Hope it's not a widespread issue.

Requires a special 'steaming' milk. Look for it in the refrigerator of your local supermarket and if you don't see it - ask at the info counter.

FYI they usually have these in the back but don't want to sell them to you because the staff buys all the stock they have generally. So if they pretend like they don't know what you're talking about demand to speak to the manager.

I know someone in dark web that sell these. They only accept btc unfortunately

        • If you become a member of the exclusive Coffee Club you can get special access to steaming milk they don't sell to the public.

    • You need a coffee machine that has a steaming wand. For example the Breville dual boiler.

    Came up $29 for me..
    Deal expired :(

    • Me too :(

  • I have this and it is great. If you make coffees all the time I'm sure you can calibrate your palm. But I only do so once a day so this is a very helpful aid. Handwash only, quick rinse with water straight after pouring the milk.

    • Yeah for the price it was a really good deal.

Almost bought one but I make do with my Kmart cheapy + hand test (or food thermometer when I'm in doubt)

  • Was expecting actual temperature control. Seems this isn't it.

    What is latte art?

    • It is an art that was late to an appointment.

  • that temperature thing is such a gimmick - but i digress.
temperature doesn't determine the texture of your milk anyway, you can still end up with mouth-scalding milk and have it pour latte art. it's all about technique and introducing the right amount of steam then ensuring a proper whirlpool effect in your jug, and so is determining milk temperature. if it's on sale sure, but wouldnt pay more for it

    • its not a gimmick if you know what you’re doing. For me its basically if you want take away i’d do +5c than normal range. But mostly its about having the consistency of temp of the drink than having to guess it (and perhaps burn your tongue in the process)

      • On the contrary if you know what you're doing you do not need a temp gauge. Go watch a few pros or barista competitions on YouTube and see if you can spot something like this in use. It doesn't take long to get your hand used to the right temp, and frankly is probably more accurate than this slow reacting gauge.

        • You still need to figure out what the right temperature is to start with….you can't really do that without some sort of assistance. Eg this jug, or a food thermometer

          • @TEER3X: Or hold till it feels right then just adjust to taste. I don't even know what temp I set the milk to, but I do know it's how I like it. It's like being incapable of setting the shower temp to a comfortable level without a thermometer. In any case, it was more an argument against "not a gimmick if you know what you're doing", when quite the opposite is true.

I’m not doing this for competition or as a job. Just for needs at home and I find the simple temp gauge takes most of the guessing game away.
It’s the same reason I use cruise control on every where I drive because it takes mind off of boring things, not that I have trouble controlling the speed and revs by foot ☺️.

          YMMV

          • @kaleidoscope: Well you still have to watch it.. like watching the speedo. I'd argue your hand is a less 'speedo watching' and easier method.
But if you don't know what you're doing it might be useful.

    • It's called 65 deg mate.
You should do 5 or 10 milk froths and stop when you think it's right then put the thermometer in to see what it actual is

Have this jug and it works really well. Helpful for people like me that makes just few coffees per day and for certain types of milks that says heat it for 65c or so for best consistency. I only hand wash though so can’t comment on dishwashing.

I think if you have the skills to wash your hands, it's not that much of a leap to wash the jug. Come on bro.
