who cares about RRP when you have:

Average price $99.76 of the last 31 price changes

I've noticed many MRRP/RRP are jacked up with most items now. Even my lounge for Nick Scali was $9990 down to $4500, but the lounge is also on this sale or that for the price I paid. Camel is much better to get a real idea

Congrats on your first post - and a good one at that.

      Thankyou,
I’m now patiently waiting for a dressing down from JV about the quality of my post.

    • +1

Not sure if unclerico or poldy is the mvp here 🙂

  • +3

Excellent controller, highly reccomend it even at $80

Build quality is just 'fine' but the dock, long life sticks and app / macros are great.

  • Seller any good?

    • Wondering this too, seem to have decent reviews on Amazon, more worried if something goes wrong with the controller.

      • Has been this price for a little while now. I’m personally waiting for Amazon direct sale as I have credits but shouldn’t matter either way. Amazon are remarkably good with returns and will be easy to deal with in my experience, even when they’re not the actual seller and only shipping.

    • You can click on the Sellers name to bring up their profile.

      245 rating with 91% at 5-star, 9% 4-star, 0% 3, 2, 1-star

    • Doesn't really matter, returns are through Amazon.

      • Warranty is not though. There was a deal for $1 more with amazon as the seller

  • The last controller I used was a ps2 one but want to buy one to couch game on my pc now, is it hard to get used to the left stick being in a different place?

    • +2

I switch between this and Playstation ones, not a problem.

    • Sticks not a problem as you use it all the time. I've only had limited time on mine but still not used to the d pad location as you don't use it as often. Can't imagine it'll be a problem after a few more sessions though.

  • +1

Geez, the price keeps going down on this and I've been upvoting it almost every time but putting off buying due to cost of living pressure… So tempting though!

  • Crazy, I legit had this sitting in my cart last night but held off so glad I waited.

  • Can't see it for this price anymore. Probably sold out.

    • Nope, still available in both colours at $73.96. You must have a different seller selected.

    • +1

You need prime to see the price, or if on pc click on “New (3) from 99.00 …” to see the prime deal

Why get this over Xbox or ps5 controller?

    • +1

Comes with a dock, works on Switch, hall effect sticks that should last longer, custom macros, programmable back buttons..

    • +1

I have Xbox (with 8bitdo wireless adapter) and this for switch.

My main differentiators positive for 8d are
*the charging dock (Xbox batteries… c’mon MS), *additional bittons on back,
      *app/macros,
*the button config matching the switch (Xbox xy & ab flipped)
*recognised by switch better so less messing about to turn on
      *doesn’t need adaptor for switch
      * slightly better build quality feel
*cheaper than Xbox with adaptor (originally got for PC use)

      Xbox positives
*the bigger top triggers more my style (8b feel less “triggery”)
*better fit with larger hand size

Originally had ps5 controller but sold it and got Xbox as was a pain to use with PC

I use them both still but if only could have one, I’d keep 8b.

      • Does this work on xbox?

        • no

        • It does with the wireless adaptor (I think)

          • @SpainKing: No. Xbox uses a propietary wireless connection.

            • @Merlict: My mistake, only their wired ones can work on the Xbox. Thanks for correcting my ignorance and misinformation

              • +1

@SpainKing: All good, Microsoft are stingy with liscencing it otherwise they'd sell a million of these if it could do Switch / Xbox PC in one.

  • Just curious (and yes I know you can map them how you like): how come the X/Y and A/B button positions appear to be swapped between the Bluetooth and 2.4G models?

    • +1

The Bluetooth model is for Switch which uses that layout

  • I don’t get why this is a deal. To me it look like a knock off switch pro controller? It’s probably $30 controller? Is it a software thing? Please don’t hate I understand I’m probably removed from a 3rd party controller for a switch should cost

    • Just more features - can toggle between Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz (for PC dongle), hall effect joysticks meaning no stick drift, customisable back paddles and other software QoL features (deadzones and sensitivity adjustment). As 3rd party controllers go it's also pretty good in that it can wake the switch from sleep

      • Thanks all the comments. That helps. My kids switch does drift badly. Like Mario keeps walking when you let go. How come there’s two models? Is Bluetooth got both Bluetooth and wifi?

        • Yes BT built in, 2.4ghz in the dock included.

      • +1

hall stick is not just to prevent drift though… the precision i get on it is sooo good… it actually makes me better playing Dirt Rally 2…

    • It's also 2.4ghz comes with a dongle for PC as well as the charging dock. I have both this and a couple of switch pro controllers, this makes the switch pro controller feel like a knock off lol

The 2 extra programmable buttons on the back are neat as well.

    • Comes with a dock, hall effect sticks that should last longer, custom macros, programmable back buttons..

I get the attitude cause there are a lot of crap third party controllers around but 8bitdo is great imo

    • You dont know 8bitdo

  • +1

Bought mine in July for $76.96. I'm happy I chose this one instead of an NS Pro controller.

If you are an NS Switch owner and a PC gamer, this controller is perfect. The sweetest part is I can connect to a PC via the USB dongle (2.4g mode) as an Xbox controller or an NS Pro controller. (You need to flash a beta dongle firmware to enable the mode switch function). The 2.4g connection is good for me as it avoids interference between Bluetooth devices. So my QC35 can be used with this controller at the same time.

  • Keeps getting cheaper since I bought it lol

Great controller feels like quality, highly recommend it especially for ease of use on the PC and the tidy charger dock.

  • I lingered on the last deal and almost missed out, got the last one which was in white. Just setup at the start of the week, sync'd without issue on my Nvidia Shield, seems to run well so I'm thinking of getting another.

  • Damn, missed it

    • +2

Still available in black and white 🤷‍♂️

  • buttons and trigger felt amazing. however, the shape of it is an ergonomic nightmare. I wish the sides flared out like the xbox controller.

  • -1

    Works for ps5?

  • +3

Be aware that if you have large hands, this controller will not be for you. The grips are quite short, and they're angled down instead of outwards, so you will be creating a bad ulnar deviation situation if you have large hands. You would be better suited with the Gulikit KingKong 2 Pro as a replacement if you have large hands. Same stick technology, more features and more sync profiles, but perhaps not quite as well known. I've had one for about a year now and it's still going very strong with only a slight squeak developed in the right trigger (thanks to Diablo 4).

    • Thanks for the insight. I have the Gulikit controller and it's massive. I love it but my nine year old son struggles with it a bit. Might get this one for him and keep the Gulikit one for myself.

    • Good recommendation, thanks. Is it basically the same shape as an Xbox controller? It looks very similar to the XB1 controller I'm already using on PC, and I quite like the shape of that.

      • +1

Yes, pretty much identical to the Xbox controller shape. Only downside is that there's no back paddles on it, but feels like a Xbox Elite controller for the price of a normal Xbox controller.

  • Anyone know if you can connect multiple of these to a single PC?

    • Yes

  • Good for submarines?

    • Bit too pricey.

Better off checking marketplace or Op shops.

  • Torn between this and 8bitdo Pro 2. It will be for family room TV / emulators and maybe modern games

    • +1

This for sure unless you absolutely must have the Dpad up top.

  • Any phone holders for these type?

  • +1

I have an Xbox elite series 2 and one of these.
I do not use the elite series 2 anymore.

This controller rocks. It's not perfect, especially with getting the back paddles to work seemlessly, but regardless it's probably the best controller I've used.
There's 2 cons to this controller:
    1. Battery life is 8 hours, which I think should be improved.
    2. For mine, the USB charging port on the controller itself seems to have failed and as such I have to dock and charge now.

    Get it!

  • +1

Would this work well with Xbox Ultimate Game Pass and Cloud games? I'm tossing between this and the Xbox controller.

  • Can you use more than 1 controller on a Switch? I always thought Bluetooth could only pair one device at a time (like in the car).

    • +1

No you can have 4+ , probably 8 joycons etc.
