    I want 75 inch t2

  • +2

Do these actually increase viewing pleasure?

    • +3

I believe in theory it reduces the overall contrast between the TV and the backing wall, which improves viewing comfort so you don't need to squint at bright scenes.

I've been waiting for a 75+ inch version of this for my A80K.

      • +1

Ahh I see. In reality, do you find that it does help?

        • Well I haven't got one, sorry! that's why I say "in theory" 😅

        • +1

          I have one.

Yes, its actually quite good, I would recommend it. My biggest issue is you need to remember to turn it on (its not linked to the TV, you turn it on separately via the app) so 90% of the time I forget. But its great when I turn it on!

    • +1

the T2 accuracy is pretty damn good after a bit of manual tweaking in the app, ive also added the art 3d wall panels behind and it looks awsome and help with eye strain at night

    • +2

For watching movies - I think its personal preference. Some might find it annoying.
Especially if the colours don't match, or lags from the on screen colours.

These can also be used to sync with music too (without the tv)
So if you play music via home theatre, the colours can change to the beat.

      • +1

correct ive only used it on camera with a QLED and on 40% brigtness its bang on 99% of the time, you may have a slight delay with fast moving colour changes but as its in your peripheral i dont notice it… purchased another one for the bedroom

    • I bought one in the last offer and think it's a great addition, makes the tv feel larger and more immersive.
One caveat, you need a dark room for it to work accurately as it will pick up stray reflections from lights and throw off the colours.

I have put static warm white LED bias lighting behind my TV, they certainly help when watching TV with all other lights turned off as they reduce the contrast between the edge of the TV and the wall, reduces eye strain.
But you don’t need these fancy colour changing RGB lights, IMO plain white LED lights are better. I say that because I have seen something similar to this at a friend’s place (probably not this exact same model) but I didn’t like it at all. The colours didn’t perfectly match the content at the edge of the screen, and the lights were a little out of sync too, anyhow I found it a little too distracting for my liking.

      • Thanks for the feedback!

      • How did you power it?
Is it safe to use the tv USB or recommend to use a separate USB power source?

    • I have had the T1 on 65 inch for abt 6 months and I find it is excellent & adds a lot to the watching experience and I dont seem to get as many sore eyes/headaches from too much TV. However, be warned, it took me many attempts to fine tune it and it only works very well in dark rooms with no light source bouncing off the TV. I still have problems with some colours but overall pleased with it. Govee also have excellent after sales support.

Don't stick those calibration blocks on your TV.

    Just use this video.
    https://youtu.be/lR_Pxd8hrd4

    • Thanks!

Curious though, I saw a comment from someone who said those that play alot of widescreen movies, to use the 21:9 aspect ratio instead of 16:9.
Which means the top and bottom row of calibration blocks need to be 'closer' to the middle (height-wise).

Any truth to this, or is the system smart enough to adjust automatically with the black letterbox frames ?

      • +1

I calibrated at 16:9 and a widescreen movie is close enough to the edges that the Govee will adjust.

    • Nice… I actually created a similar jpg on my laptop and pop it on the screen for calibration.
Tried one of those blocks, didn't like how it sticks to the screen

      • Some people have complained of them causing damage.

        • well the user guide did emphasize "lightly stick the blocks onto TV".
If anyone pushes it on firmly, pretty sure there will be damage or sticky residue

    Hi.
I purchased the T1 few months back when on last special. For 89 bucks is good. Was tricky install on 55" tv. Almost too long. Had to tape the corners of connecting wire down and put a bit under main led bulb at corner as it was creating shadows on wall. I also mounted camera on entertainment unit.
You are correct that with the widescreen movie black bars it hampered the effect so i had to adjust the calibration using the youtube videos. Havent bothered moving back as i cant be bothered re calibrating all the time.

When watching its good at start but as you get engrossed in movie you kind of firget its there. Overall defo worth 89 bucks

Mine is not as accurate as seen in the youtube videos, could be tuning-related. With this LED, I now don't keep the lamps on. It's worth it, my friend liked it.

Major issue with these is subtitles. It will flash white around where you see subtitles.

    • Hmm, dealbreaker for me.

  • Curious about how this compares to the Lytmi in the demo here which looks really impressive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7s7zvRgehJk&t=198s
The two products seem to be competing in the same realm in terms of price and features. Big difference is the Lytmi requires the source to be plugged into a TV box and Govee is camera based so it'll work on anything.

    • When I did my research I initially didn't like the camera idea as I thought it would get in the way. But since the camera can be mounted below the TV it isn't much of a problem.

The HDMI box has is benefits.
But I'm not liking the fact my UHD Bluray content would have needed to go through another device. Worried it will cause lag.

    • That looks quite impressive. As I’ve said in one of my replies above, I have seen another cheap RGB bias lighting product, and found it to be more of a distraction than anything else because the lights didn't quite match the content. But that Lytmi product on your link looks pretty amazing and I wouldn’t mind upgrading to something like that.

    • most of the content I watch on the TV run off the TV's apps, so HDMI box isn't an option.
Bough the T1 during the last offer for my 75", works alright even though it was slightly undersize. Happy with it.
