The one star reviews put it at more like 5000mAh

    • There are 45 times more 4 and 5 star reviews than 1 star reviews. Can't be that bad. There are always duds regardless of the brand and quality assurance.

      • +11

The 5 star reviews barely mention the actual discharge and how much percentage a charge takes.

        The one star reviews however

-I used a battery capacity tester under standard load conditions to test the actual capacity of the battery and it came in at 5500mAh. (3A discharge @ 4.5v) significantly less than the advertised 10000mAh!

-Just purchased and charged overnight to full. Its been a couple of minutes into the first charge of my S22 Ultra and its already down by 10%, which to me is a little too quick so I suspect its not quite the 10,000mAh it claims to be.

-Doesn't convert power well at all. Used it's whole 10000Mah and could hardly charge half of a 6500Mah battery in my iPad.

Fakespot AI on the reviews comes up with:
-Small and light but not 10000,mah as advertised. Actual size is bigger, heavier and cannot fully charge my oneplus 9 phone. No business ethics whatsoever.

Just because a listing has a lot of positive reviews doesn't really mean much, reviews can be bought, bribed for or faked and also a large majority reviews don't even care about the capacity/sometimes even the actual charging speed, they just think, it works here's 5 stars.

For any items it's always best to look at the 1 stars rather than the 5 stars to see the cons of the item.

I feel we need a FAQ on powerbanks that includes the point that without any exception I'm aware of, the mAh capacity ratings of power banks is at the standard lithium battery voltage of 3.7v. This might seem like a "scam" to people who assume that means amperage at 5v, but it isn't really, especially now that various charging protocols work at double digit voltages like 20v.

Of course it would be better for comparison if they were all rated in watt-hours..

Also: I believe this has been measured by Choice Australia as delivering approximately 5700 mAh @ 5v; that's a little less than the average of about 6400-odd mAh @ 5v for most "10,000 mAh" (@ 3.7v) rated power banks they tested. But it is very substantially lighter than all the others they tested at this capacity, so for me it's a worthwhile tradeoff.

    • TLDR. It can charge devices while charging itself. what a useless review.

  • Forgot to say: thanks OP, got one.

Thank god it’s the official VEEKTOMX store

I got one of these a few months ago, it’s handy cause it’s soo small but it is way way less than 10,000ma. It goes down to 30% on a full charge of my iPhone 14 pro.. which is only 3000 or so ma

  • I was curious if battery tech got better. Comments answered my question.

Powerbanks and real capacity…always starts a conversation……I found this a good read to better understand it.

I haven't measured the capacity on mine, but I use it most times I travel. Its small size and weight make it perfect for the carry-on. Would buy again.

    • Is the weight quite heavy compared to other power banks?

      • No, it's much lighter than all the other "10k" power banks that Choice reviewed.

    Mine arrived yesterday:
    - Weighed on kitchen scales at 169 grams.
    - Measured using an inline USB power meter to provide a charge at 18.5W (at 5v - 'Dash' charge)
    - Itself took a charge from a fast wall charger at 18.5W (at 9.1v)
    - Provided a total 34 watt-hours from 100% to 0% according to the usb meter.
    - That's about 9,189 mAh at the 3.7v these power banks are all rated at.

Given the conversion losses mean these power banks never do much better than about 93% conversion, I'd say that means the 10,000 mAh nominal spec is pretty much spot on, which is surprising given the weight. Then again I guess they use off the shelf lipo pouches. Maybe the casing and electronics are where they shaved the weight - I hope it lasts ok.
