But it's Avio is almost as bad as Qantas. Very hard to get a seat and considering the Australian government is not giving them enough slots, doesn't help us

  • Is there a fee to gift miles?

    • -6

No fee to gift males. Females however are sore out of luck when it comes to Qatar Airways.

      • That was pretty bad not gonna lie

250k plus Bonus 200k points for $10,492.5, roughly 2.33 cents per points. Still a bit expensive.

    • 90,000 points Sydney to London in Business = $2,100. Not bad if you can actually find availability.

      • Which is very hard considering the government isn't letting them fly enough

        • +1

Qatar also seem to have massively restricted global award availability over the last couple of months.

          • @recession1: Yes ever since they opened the portal to transfer from Amex

          • @recession1: Qatar have heaps of Flexi award rather than saver, which is double points.

      • What about additional taxes on top?

      • +3

There is no availability for 90K points. Qatar have pulled all saver awards.

      • That is pretty good. I redeemed 100K avios for Business Sydney to HK with Cathay Pacific. Expensive by comparison, but I had the pts for ages looking for a way to use them so pulled the trigger.

  • don't have the min 1000 points….oh well.

  • +1

So they took all my information to ay you need 1000 points to be able to purchase.

    • Should be in the OP

    • Can’t you now transfer Amex

  • Thanks Op, good for those who has plans and found award availability. Otherwise wait for a good promotion from BA for cheaper price.

  • You can transfer Avios between any of these programs at a rate of 1:1 in any direction, so 1 British Airways Avios is worth 1 Qatar Airways Avios and vice versa. The reason you may wish to transfer your Avios between the different programs is that Avios have slightly different values and uses in each program.

  • Not for new members? Members must have earned min 1K balance since enrolment

  • -1

Mad bonus. Would be useful if you can tx To another program that you can get saver tickets more easily

  • +1

Easiest way to transfer in 1k?

    • Can’t you now transfer amex

    • Western Union

  • Anywhere I can check reward availability before buying?

    • Go to "Redeem my Avios" on the QA site.

      • Even if I have no points?

  • Does anyone know if BA has better availability? Would it be worth purchasing through this promo transferring to BA then redeeming them that way?

  • Got a $2500 upgrade to business offer from Qatar, how do I know how many Avios needed?

  • +2

Although the OP is excited, it was 80% back in June, so just pointing out it's not a unique, get in quick one-off kind of deal.

As above, it's still not so cheap, although if you can find something may be worth it - but since Qater recently pulled much of their Saver awards, not a lot of chance.

    • Any ideas why they pulled their saver awards?

  • +2

With the lack of saver award availability I'd steer clear of buying Avios. They've only got the 'flex' seats available which are twice as expensive and pretty bad value imo.
