I bought the freedom one $99 more comfortable.

    http://www.freedom.com.au/furniture/home-office/office-chair…

    • Oooh, I do like those plastic arm rests more. Can imagine elbows would easily slip off the DSE one.

EDIT: sweet! I like the comment dupe detection system, fixed up my accidental double click :)

      • The freedom chair is of poorer quality than this one and won't last nearly as long. The metal arm rests are fine btw. The mesh chair here will give you very good back support along with good support under the legs. It is very comfortable in the summer and easy to clean. I used to work in the furniture industry and would be all over this deal if I needed a new one.

        • But at least the freedom one have cushion on the seat and head rest. No idea how long it will last because I have just bought it and only use at home so won't use it for that long hours per day.

I tried it out in store one day. It is pretty comfortable but the detailing is quite poor and the parts don't cleanly fit together.

  • …and $10 shipping, decent. (To Melbourne anyway)

  • A $199 chair for $99 sounds like a great deal. I am in the market for the new chair but at this price range ~$100 find the quality overall of most chairs is pretty disappointing.

Are there any alternatives to have a look at before jumping on this deal? I have tried Officeworks and Ikea and didn't really like any of their chairs <$200.

    • Try the freedom one I posted here, better than I expected.

  • does anyone goto uts?
They have these really nice mesh office/computer chairs.
Would anyone know where to grab one? (for home use)

    • aren't they herman miller

      • thx, living edge seems to be the only retailer in aus
and they dont list price on web either, what a pain.

        • Living edge is the cheapest source for them.

RRP on a Herman Miller Aeron is something liek $1400.
Few hundred less for the Mirra.

  • its ok but its no miller aeron

  • "won't break your budget" … and won't support your back correctly.

  • Is this a high back chair? which can partly support the head? I often get neck pain when sitting too long bc my damn chair doesnt support the head.

  • i read that it is better to get a flexible typist chair with flexible back, no hi back, for ergonomic reasons.

  • I had a look at the DSE chair. It looked OK for $99 but wasn't really a "nice" chair. It definitely did not look it should have ever been worth $199.

I went to Freedom and their $99 chair posted above is basically old stock which my local store didn't have. The only other decent chair < $200 was http://www.freedom.com.au/furniture/home-office/office-chair… which was OK but the lumbar support was non-existent.

BTW, I am looking at non-synthetic chairs only. The synthetic leather stuff is out of the question for me because it deteriorates quickly.

At OfficeWorks they had a large selection of mostly crap chairs (synthetic leather, uncomfortable, no arm rests) but this is one I ended up with. It felt decent quality, was comfortable, had lumbar support and adjustable armrest heights. And the headrest is pretty comfortable too when leaning back.

    • The freedom one may not good for big guy, it is OK for me as a thin guy.
