      My default card through PayPal was an Amex and I was having this issue.

      Remove Paypal from Uber Wallet. Add it again using the link in OP, but select a visa or mastercard this time.

      Success.

        Thanks! But unfortunately still no luck.

        I've deleted all payment methods from my uber wallet (it is literally blank now)

        And then on paypal I tried to change the debit card linked to it but it won't allow as there are reoccurring payments. Upon inspecting the reoccurring payments I noticed Uber was one of them which I cancelled. I thought this would have fixed the issues but I still can't get it to work unfortunately

    Just word of advice, Uber charges you the day before your membership ends (e.g. membership ending on 31/08, it charges on 30/08).

    Has anyone else noticed that sometimes an account with Uber One Membership vs an account with no membership can have higher total for the same order even with no codes used?

    E.G

    Uber one membership account: X type of pizza with X side = $25.50 delivered (after all fees accounted for)

    Uber account with no membership: X type of pizza with X side = $23.50 delivered.

    I have noticed this when ordering with my partner, its weird but just thought I would share incase others have a similar experience.

    NB does not work if you've already been a member in the past

    If you have an active membership and go through the cancellation flow it offered me 90% off next month, so $1 for a month of Uber One which seems worthwhile before you actually cancel

      I was a member in the past, it just worked for me. I did cancel uber one 2 days after I activated last time, if that makes a difference.

    Had very big issues trying to cancel this trial just before it expired it and it started charging me. Took many emails and phone calls to fix up. Beware.

      Why not just cancel auto payments from PayPal itself rather than through Uber? It's what I did once for my Herald Sun subscription. They wanted me to call them to cancel. No thanks. Simply removed auto payments to them through my paypal account.

            @G-rig: But you'd have a working paypal connected, it's just you turned off automatic payments, so they'd manually charge your paypal or any other payments associated with Uber.

    Ie can you unlink PayPal or something to stop the auto renewal?

          - removed paypal via uber wallet management
          - clicked link to connect paypal and begin uber one trial
          - managed membership to cancel

          shows my membership ends in Feb (my birthday!)

    Already had Paypal on my account and had used a Mastercard 6 month freebie in the past, got this message when I tried to use:
    "code:invalid-argument message:We are unable to accept this payment method. Please contact your payment provider or try adding another payment method."

      Tried deleting and re-adding/linking my Paypal account to my Uber account, still no dice: "Unfortunately, that payment method isn't eligible for this Uber One offer."

      After the mastercard promo, I did get an extra month for $1 when attempting to cancel, not sure if that may affect anything.

      just ordered 3 milkshakes from a local shop. Delivery cost effectively came down from $9.99 (delivery fees) to $2.24 (service fees). Not bad.

      Yes you can use gift card, but if you have anything left over you must use paypal.

      I did this for the mastercard deal where gift card fully covered the cost and it still maintained my free delivery.

    UberEats app doesn’t recognise the payment method with my Mastercard to not charge me the delivery fee. Had to make a claim after every order to get a refund and they didn’t always refund it.

    Stopped using ubereats for a couple of reasons. Prefer to use doordash or menulog now.
