Thanks, Chickenleg for the info below regarding expiry:

T&Cs say offer expires 5 November so could postpone if you don’t want to activate straight away.

Sign-up offer valid in Australia, for eligible PayPal Australia customers. Offer excludes current Uber One members. Offer expires on 512 November 2023. Full Uber One membership benefits only available if PayPal is used as the payment method in your Uber or Uber Eats wallet during the 6-month trial period (Trial Period).

After the 6-month free Trial Period, your membership will auto-renew each month at the rate of $9.99 per month or the then-current monthly rate using your selected payment method, until you cancel. Cancel in-app up to 48 hours before the Promotion ends to avoid incurring the charge for the next billing cycle, or contact support. Subject to consumer laws, your recurring payment is not refundable. If you cancel your Uber One membership and re-enrol, you will not be eligible for this offer.

If PayPal is removed as a payment method from your Uber or Uber Eats wallet during the Trial Period, you will only receive the following Uber One membership benefits during the Trial Period: ‘Uber One exclusive offers’, such as access to promotions and experiences for Uber One members. Full Uber One membership benefits will be resumed once PayPal is re-selected as your payment method in your Uber or Uber Eats wallet during the Trial Period.

  • darn my Mastercard promo expires in December after this one ends 😫

It looks like you’ve already had a membership. Unfortunately, you’re not eligible for this Uber One offer.

    • That's what I get, do we have to cancel existing membership first ?

      • Maybe otherwise not sure how this get so many upvoted when around half should already have uber one. Mine expires in September so will have to try after that

        • +1

Yep if you have existing membership you need to wait for it to lapse first before trying to apply this one.

          • @CodeXD: But will it work? Has it worked for anyone

            • @sub102: Yes I've previously had the Mastercard 6 months promo on my account, expired a while ago and I never signed up to uber one.

I was able to activate this paypal 6 months on the same account.

        • With the MasterCard promo I didn't have to cancel existing subscription it applied it automatically at the end of the current sub. With this one I'll have to cancel then try after it's lapsed, yet not many people saying that.

          • @nwa: Was your existing sub prior to mastercard a paid sub?

Both mastercard and paypal promo are under the same 'trial sub' umbrella.

            • @CodeXD: Yes I was paid sub with MasterCard then went on MasterCard promo for 6 months then back to paid sub.

  • Are they still giving out the $100 vouchers for Uber customers with memberships?

  • Thanks OP, 6 months of free membership of one added.

  • Thanks Op. 6 months sorted.

  • thanks got it

  • Can we cancel now and keep 6 months or need to cancel later?

      • +1

thanks! now is better than forget

Your membership ends on 17 Feb, 2024
        Renew

@the milk man maybe can add to the post

        • +1

I reckon you won't get as many targeted Uber deals if you cancel ahead of time. My logic tells me if you are an active Uber one member you will get more offers to entice you to remain over time as opposed to already having cancelled . Its easy to put a reminder to cancel a few days beforehand the due date and you also increase you chances of being offered an extension promotion

          • @hagglerforever: Agreed, i may as well do the same (and have added to Calendar).

          • @hagglerforever: Call me a sceptic, but I suspect it may be the other way around- i.e. UE will still throw offers at you to entice and hopefully make you re-take membership. For example, in my offers banner it's already flagging that my membership is "due to expire soon" even though I have 6 months to go!

Loyalty to businesses rarely pay these days (happy to be proven wrong).

  • +1

If we do that 4 weeks free trial that UE shows on the app, cancel that then after that expires sign up for this, will it work?

    • I'm wondering the same… and how best to maximise benefit.

I have an "Enjoy $20 off your order and 4 weeks Uber One free" promo on one of my accounts. If I accept this offer first, can I then subsequently use the PayPal 6mths promo (or if I just use the PayPal 6mths promo, do I still get the $20 off, or is that promo specifically linked to the 4 weeks Uber One free promo on my account)?

  • Cheers Milk man

  • Cheers worked for me :)

  • Is PayPal just required for membership auto-renewal… or do you have to use it to pay for orders (like the previous Bundll promo)?

Anyone know if you can use the same PayPal account on multiple accounts (or Uber picks ups up that the PayPal account is linked to another Uber account)?

  • Thanks OP. Perfect extension after the CBA promo

  • For those on existing sub, confirms this work but have to cancel existing sub first and day after its lapsed you can click on the link to sign up. Ensure to add Paypal as a payment option before and discounts only show when you choose to pay with Paypal in cart.

  • I did it with Commbank before now it says:

    You've already claimed another offer
Once your current Uber One offer ends, you can activate this one.

I guess I will just have to wait.

  • Is Uber One 'shared' when you're using Uber Family Sharing?

  • worked thanks op

  • Not working on mine, somehow. It says the PayPal account has been shared by too many accounts, which can't be right.

    • PayPal account has been shared by too many accounts, which can't be right.

So how many uber accounts have been shared by the paypal account?

      • That's the weird part. Actually, none.

    • Same here

  • Seems to be pretty good price since using it.
No idea about uber eats, one day

  • +2

Does the offer expire on 5 or 12 Nov, where to find the info?

    • it says 5th, which would be the latest date at which you can acquire this deal -
there is so many links available on the deal to read the terms and adverts - follow these as you please, man.

  • no luck :( tried this after the old Mastercard promo expired (waited till Uber One expired). "It looks like you've already had a membership. Unfortunately, you're not eligible for this Uber One offer."

  • Anyone else had their membership try and renew today? I took this offer up in August but just got told my payment is due?

  • @The Milk Man i can't see the day this promotion ends in TnC, maybe they changed?

    • +1

      12 November
After you tap 'claim' it will go to a page to add your PayPal and there is more fine print stipulating this expiry date.

      • Its the 13th today and i signed up without problem.

  • Got one. Thanks OP.

  • You've already had a membership

Offer expires on 12 November 2023.

    Still working :)

    EDIT: Formatting.

I get an error "That offer has expired"

  • It appears like this deal was a lie - I signed up. Got one month of free Uber One, and now they’ve started to charge me as a monthly subscription.

    • What does it say in your uber one status?

      https://www.ubereats.com/au/uber-one

      Uber One
6 months free trial thanks to PayPal until Saturday, 17 February, 2024

      • There’s no status? But under membership it says Uber One and monthly. I’ve disputed the charge and contacted PayPal, so we’ll see what happens

        • I don't think you got this paypal deal then

          • @CodeXD: I certainly did. It was sent to me by PayPal via email.

            • @broomwalker: But did you click through and activate it? Registered your paypal in uber eats and confirm 6 months of trial subscription?

              • @CodeXD: Yes, I did at the time. It seems like it was only a 1-month free trial from payment history. Let’s see what they say, though in the past, PayPal has been nothing but painful.

                • @broomwalker: It does sound a bit like user error - maybe you've just claimed your existing, uber provided - 1 month trial instead of the 6, maybe when you went to activate the deal it had overwritten it and applied the one month

either who either way, this is uber - not paypal?
leave paypal alone, saved me $$,$$$ over the years. good blokes.

    • Works for many others. Something went wrong with your link or activation. The deal wasn't a lie.
