NBA League Pass via Argentina Pricing 2023

[Note: This post is probably only relevant to NBA League Pass subscribers already attached to Argentina pricing]

I'm currently subscribed annually to NBA League Pass (non-premium) via Argentina and my sub is due for renewal soon.

Last year the annual sub for me was ARS 2,879.99 which was around AUD$30 at the time (October 2022)
This year it has increased to ARS 16,799.99 (~ AUD$75, a 250% jump) which is significant but due to the ARS currency tanking, not surprising.

I logged into the NBA site to see what my options were:
League Pass monthly price is ARS 699.99 (~ AUD$3.13/month) i.e. ARS 699.99 x 12 = ARS 8399.88 = 50% discount
League Pass Premium monthly price is ARS 909.99 (~ AUD$4.08/month)

So I've decided to change to monthly pricing and basically get a 50% discount.

Curiously, when you choose the new monthly plan, they point out that annual plans could save you up to 40% but it my case my annual plan costs twice as much as the monthly plan. Some sort of automatic renewal Jacked pricing I guess.

Just thought I'd let you all know.

However, what payment options are available? When I had tried mid season, to use another location, it kep rejecting my cards. Not sure if ARS has paypal ?

    • I still have my credit card saved in my profile from maybe 2 years back so I've dodged the issue of payment method being declined. I think they only allow you to pay by credit card, no paypal for Argentina.

I believe the Turkish pricing is about $28 for the season.

    • need VPN to sign up?

    • Oh you're right. Managed to see the TRY pricing.
TRY 599 annually for League Pass Premium.
Regular League Pass didn't show at an annual price for me.

      • that was happening to me, but tried again (using windscribe free) and it came up in lyra just then - paid for a year for 600 lyra, rough 35 aud.

        • Did you start a new account and use an Australian credit card to pay?

          • @JackedBargain: same account, already had my 28 degrees card saved and went through fine.

            • @harro112: At some point I have removed my 28 degrees info, I'm looking to sign up with Turkey VPN but when I go to pay it auto populates the billing country as Turkey. Tried twice but both times payments didn't go through.
Any tips on how to get it working.

@Schumi5: nah sorry man not sure about that one :(

              • @Schumi5: Bump this. My payment failed for auto renewal and now I'm unable to create a new account as on the the payment page the country is hardcoded to Argentina and none of my cards will work

  • Interesting, just got my renewal too for the ARS16799

  • Thanks. Hope they dont change the monthly price too

Nice. I got my renewal today in Mexican Peso. Not as cheap as what you are paying though! Comes out at $130, an increase of about $30. Thinking of cancelling and becoming either Turkish or Argentinian.

  • For info, South Africa Rand is $93AUD for premium.

  • Anyone know what cards will be accepted if you don’t have it saved in NBA league pass?

  • Because I didn't have a presaved card in my NBA account, it ended up Costing me $21.99 more in the end but this is how I got it working.

Apologies for the essay of the method I used.

1.signed up to 1 month $21.99 league pass (Australian) , once I did that my card details were saved in my account(this is the key as you need to be able to edit the details to the actual card you want use so when you checkout with Turkey VPN it will use those details as apposed to entering manually where it Preselects Turkey as your billing country which causes failed payments)

    1. I then put 599 turkey dollars on wise card.
    2. In NBA account Changed my card details to the wise card.

Now the only way I could get the next part to work was login to my Australian account first, then used Turbo Vpn(free 7 day trial) to switch on Turkey VPN
Go back to the chrome tab with NBA open and refresh the page so it keeps you logged in but switches to Turkey pricing.(For some reason when I tried logging in while the Turkey VPN was activated it would just bring up sign in errors.)

On payment screen it preselects your saved card and away you go.

    4.Logout, then off VPN
    5. Login using you Australian account and under manage subscriptions it will show both the Australian premium and the turkey premium, just cancel the Australian one.

Sounds like a bit of mucking around, but was quite simple. Lesson for next time, don't remove your card details!

    • Hey mate,

Was your Wise card location Turkey, or Aus? I'm really hoping this works once my trial ends tomorrow.

      • Just checked and its Australia. i think because i had the turkey currency loaded it didnt matter

        • Cant seem to get the error that asks for a different payment method or contact financial institution. Account might be soft locked or something.

          Cheers

    • Somehow no matter what I do, when I get to the payment screen, it'll always ask for card details rather than using my saved card on profile.

  • Also had mine set to auto renew in Argentina.
Cancelled the auto renew and set my VPN to Turkey, checked out with the monthly payment as I couldn’t see an annual option.
Price was 58.99 Lira, however was immediately charged $20.29 AUD to my card.
My transaction history on league pass shows I was charged 58.99 Lira. Immediately contacted LP support and had them cancel/refund the amount, so hoping I get my full $20 back not 58.99 Lira.
Anyone else have the same issue? Wary to attempt again.

    • maybe changing VPN locations while logged in messed up your region somehow. I always open up a new private/incognito browser window when changing location.

I didn't bother changing from Argentina to Turkey for the sake of a few dollars per year. It's kind of a gamble

      • Turns out I was actually charged lei58.99 which is Romanian Leu, for some reason.
Managed to get refunded at least

  • Thanks OP. I received my renewal too and just though the party was over and had to pay $75 AUD. Just changed mine to a monthly subscription for $3.50 AUD.

  • Looks like the monthly price for Argentina has gone up also…

    • what is the monthly now? When I check my league pass it says:

      Subscription: NBA League Pass
      Account Status: Active
      Plan: 699.99
      Next Bill: 23 October 2023

hopefully that's locked in… and in ARS lol

  • I have been on the Argentina league pass for a few years and I just got a payment unsuccessful message

Is this because it is linked to an Australian credit card?

    • As far as I know, if your credit card is already saved in your profile it should be accepted as a payment method. They may have changed it recently. I won't know until they charge my credit card next month.

Or have you checked if the card on record is expired?

      • I have a saved card on my profile but when I switch to Turkey and select subscription for league pass premium, it asks me to enter in credit card details (domiciled in Turkey). Then I try login again and it comes up with my existing currency. Any suggestions?

      • Credit card isn't expired and is working just fine for every other payment

  • I'm getting all payment methods declined

    • Have they cracked down on new VPN subscriptions?

    • Not that i tried my Australian card, but what worked for me was adding my Wise card details where i had deposited 599 Turkey dollars and that worked fine.

Hmm, I changed to monthly billing and on my NBA app it shows 699.99 starting on 23 October. However, I just received an email from NBA League Pass saying:

”Your NBA League Pass Monthly subscription will renew for the 2023-24 NBA season on or around October 23, 2023. Your payment method on file will be charged ARS 2499.99 at that time.”

Not sure if I should cancel and start a new subscription/account, or just wait and see what happens.

    • I got the same email but the payment method on file is ZAR 2499.99.

I'm on the same boat, cancel completely and start a new subscription after changing to monthly billing

      • Yeah I ended up cancelling mine too. Had to ask support because I didn’t have an option to cancel the 23-24 season. They offered a free upgrade to premium but it would be too expensive at ~$11/month.

Once they cancelled I tried to VPN to Turkey but payment failed with my 28 Degrees card. Will try later with Wise. Someone else had luck with Wise.

  • Same as many others, saved payment method while still valid was getting unsuccessful.

  • In Thailand you can pay by Paypal, so maybe if you have a thai paypal account you can pay via that

  • Does anyone have a spare screen I can go halvies with? Had issue last year of no saved card so sounds like I will have same issue again, another ozb’er was kind enough to sell me his. I believe premium sub lets you watch 2 screens at a time?

  • Is anyone else getting ads on NBA LP? Suuuuper annoying. I think i signed up via India originally and my auto renewal came out at 41 USD when i paid via paypal.
