  • My 27inch monitor has that many zones, wonder how that translates to a 65inch TV.

Excuse me what monitor is this? That sounds pretty high end in the monitor world right now. So sounds like you are comparing high end with a budget mid-range product

Probably looks the same, if not better on a 65" TV given the recommended viewing distance at 36 degrees FOV is 2.2m.

To get that same FOV on a 27" monitor, you'd have to sit like a metre away from your monitor which few people do given desks typically aren't that deep. If you sit closer than that, the monitor takes up more of your field of view and flaws would be more noticeable.

Peak brightness is mental on this thing however, keep in mind that the zone count is nowhere near enough to mitigate blooming. Black crush is evident and black uniformity isn’t great because of the dimming zone algorithm (Sony is best at this). Also, motion handling isn’t the best and blurring is noticeable. In short, if you aren’t pedantic and just want bang for buck, this is it.

    • Any recommendations of better picture quality at this price point?

      • The 65” A80K was selling for $1750 at Costco not long ago so we should see this again soon, if not less.

        • A80K is miniLED or what type?

Saw the TCL miniLED in store and the picture quality and black level of the demo video looks quite good.

@pinkybrain: Oled, cant beat it for value under $2k. Low light environments it would excel in, really bright rooms it wouldnt be as impressive as something like Samsung QN90

        • Apparently it’s unavailable everywhere and the 55 inch one is $1900, not quite the same price range.

Yeah this is crazy bright, even next to Samsungs top offerings it has awesome blacks and phenomenal brightness and colouring. I think it's one of the best non OLED TVs right now…

I’m waiting for the 85” go go back on sale at this price so I can get two: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/785823

    • It won't for a long time. Pretty sure that sale was accidental and they ran two promos at the same time.

Was going to post this but it's been cheaper and probably go a bit harder with father's day around the corner might get even better.

People say still go to 90xk as it's got a better processor….thoughts?

The contrast ratio on this is insane.

Similar deal on this Mini-LED Hisense:
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/hisense-65-u7kau-uled-min…

I think they are price matching the current Harvey Norman deal.

Trying to decide myself on whether to go for one of these two, or get a Sony, Samsung or LG that isn't Mini-LED.

check in store to judge how it actually looks on the display.

Saw the TCL miniLED in store and the picture quality and black level of the demo video looks quite good

those other brands not miniLED probably not look as good black levels

However some are saying TCL has motion blur issues but hard to know unless we can test the TV with some movie or sport scene

cheaper on good guys ebay with aug12 discount code

Just picked it up for $1545 (with eBay Plus) delivered at TGG eBay.

  • I am waiting for 75inch or bigger on special.

  • I know I missed out earlier this year when the 85" had the two specials, 20% off TCL and hicense, and overlapped with 22% off if bought with a soundbar. Brought 85" down to $2556 or so.. Oh well

  • Does anyone know if Hisense 75 Inch U7KAU 4K UHD ULED Mini-LED QLED a good option for $1,667 (+$55 delivery)?

  • Is the C845 model same as QM8 in US ?

    • No. QM8 has more dimming zones and is generally a better product.

      • Can we get the QM8 in AUS ??

        • No, QM8 is a North America only product as far as I can tell.

  • Price is back up to $2295.

Appliance Central still has it for $1790 so you might be able to get JB/TGG/HN to price match
