Laptop - Budget $500

A few years ago I was given a chromebook as a Christmas gift. I love it as It has been perfect for my needs which lets face it is OzBargain, watching YouTube, emails and sometimes Netflix.

I recently got it in my head that I should go back and study and when I went to do my class presentation, it became apparent my chromebook is just not up to the task.

Any suggestions that fit the below needs?

Needed for: work - presentations, study, internet stuff, YouTube, Netflix and emails
Price: as close to $500
Weight: around 1kg-ish
Screen: 13-14"
CPU: have no idea what this even means
Needs: has to have the right hole to be able to use a projector.

Looking forward to see what you can suggest for me.

    A $200 laptop will handle the tasks mentioned by OP just fine.

        How do you know that? You are more than likely correct but the OP never mentioned the make/model of Chromebook.

        It could be one of those $1000 SNSV Chromebooks

  There is a web version of Microsoft PowerPoint but I've never used it so can't comment further.

  You'd be able to get a great second hand laptop for your $500.

  There's I5 8gen refurbs for $400-500 that would be more than enough

  Should have enough power for the use cases you've listed. Only doesn't satisfy screen and weight requirements. Has a HDMI port which most projectors should work with. For older projectors using VGA, this laptop has a USB C port that supports display so you can buy a usb c to vga adapter and keep it in your bag (like this https://www.kmart.com.au/product/usb-c-to-hdmi-+-vga-adaptor…) .Should be enough hole options.

    Better off with a refurb Lenovo with 16GB of RAM.

    Plus it doesn't support Gerry.
