  • What's the difference between this and these from almost any cheap shop?

This one is $5.35 for 24 pcs on Temu, looks the same thing
    https://www.temu.com/au/24-in-1-premium-screwdriver-set-mang…

I'm not trying to be that guy, just wondering if Amazon is any better quality than the myriad of other sites that sell the same things for about the same price?

It's the same thing, but temu has minimum purchase requirements and comes from overseas

      • Cool, thanks.

My Xiaomi one was great quality. Then i bought 2 other 'cheap' ones to give to people. Absolute trash, every part of it was loq quality. Magnets didn;t work. The bits didn't fit properly in the case. And the bits themselves work down! soft metal.

      Buy once cry once.

These are pure crap and I'd 100% avoid, speaking from experience.

Spend the extra money and get the proper Xiaomi / Wiha screwdriver set that this set is copying, which are really well made and both the screwdriver shaft and container are made of well crafted, quality metal.

The really cheap ones you see on Temu or Aliexpress (including this one in the advert) are all made of plastic (zoom in on the pictures in the advert).
The container, the screwdriver itself … all cheap, lightweight plastic.

They're being a bit liberal with their specifications by saying:
Material ‎Stainless Steel - this is only the screwdriver tips they're referring to.

Thanks for the info, while I wasn't interested in this particular set, it did seem a bit dodgy since the exact same thing is everywhere, ranging in price.

        No worries!
I have the Xiaomi set for years, but accidentally dropped it from a height and broke the spring mechanism inside it (that pops the container open).
So I bought one of these, stupidly thinking I could maybe switch the containers around.

These plastic ones are like Christmas cracker toy levels of quality.

I spent a bit of time looking for a decent quality but cheap set for electronics repair and found one: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/333500526278

The bits are SNCM which is a very good alloy for this purpose. I tested them against my Wiha set and they actually are better wearing than the Wiha. Though, under the microscope I could see they saved some money by not tumbling the bits after milling, but it's not really an issue. Dimensionally they are also accurate and fit very nicely. Highly recommend getting these for $25 with a coupon instead of the garbage ones made of cheese.

Here's a pic of one of the bits after being put through its paces and still looking brand new: https://iili.io/Hbfm2SI.jpg

    • Spend the extra money and get the proper Xiaomi

I've the Xiaomi one, beautiful case and box, nice handler but I twisted the tip of a flat screwdriver bit.
This specific set of tools (under different brands) is aimed at very small and light jobs so it doesn't matter what is the brand because the bits are all made of hardened steel instead of professionally CR-V made tools.

    • agree, I have the one with a plastic driver, and after just very light work - opening a few solar lights I can see the plastic handle showing wear/stress marks on the bit holder end.

    • Completely agree - although I've a few of the aluminium cased versions, I ordered one of these a while back as it was stupidly cheap, and was disappointed at the poor plastic quality of both the case, and the screwdriver bit holder - which was also made of plastic (including the part where the bits insert into). Snapped the first time I used it rendering the set useless, although I can use all the bits that came in it as spares for the better quality sets.

  • Depends on the purpose and the tightness of the screws.
When opening the motor head of a an 4 year old dirty Dyson V8 where the screws were very tight, the cheaper screw bits would slip and damage the screw heads.

Agree need not be branded Xiaomi but need to be good quality bits
