[Preorder] Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra with Auto Emptying Dock $1849 + Delivery @ PCByte

660

Have been looking for a decent deal on the Roborock S7 with the auto emptying dock. My SO was trawling through the PCByte website when she noticed this.

It is a pre-order; based on the website it looks like it going to be approx 20 business days

Not the cheapest of all time, but definitely looks like the cheapest I could find.

Brought one of theses the last time it was posted. The price was high, but I had always wanted one. Decided to splurge as this is considered one of the best when looking across multiple reviews.

Just used mine. Spent the free time with a walk around my neighbourhood listening to an audiobook. Nice to return to a clean house having to barely lift a finger.

    I'd highly recommend one.

  • I don't see any reason why you would go for this verse the q Revo via JB commercial via art for 1660?

    • Doesn’t seem to be on JB Commercial at the moment.

Any idea how much these are in China?

I’ve heard they are heaps cheaper and I have a mate going to China so might pay them to take it in their luggage.

    • +1

They are super locked down, you can look further into this but the TLDR is that its not really possible anymore

    • They are cheaper, but if theres a failure or fault such as a firmware brick or sensor failure you're kinda left with aftermarket board replacements or third party repairs if things really go wrong.. Better off sourcing local for such an expensive vacuum imo.

  • +1

I have had it for 5 months. Bought it $2300. It's pretty good; fully automated vacuum and mopping. Of course not cheap!

  • +3

Thanks OP. All the good reviews from everyone made me bite the bullet and got one! Can't wait for it to arrive!

    • Enjoy! Remember to look at aliexpress for some genuine cheaper spares, it will come in handy :)

  • +1

Still so expensive. Some time ago I just went with the s7+ with auto empty dock for about $1k and that's been amazing

    • That sounds like a decent compromise. For the cost of this I could buy 3 S5 max. So I kinda find it hard to justify.

  • This or Q Revo?

    • I think this one is superior to Q Revo.

Still waiting for a deal on Q Revo as well.

    • On paper they look pretty similar. This one uses camera vs Revo with lidar. This one has vibrating mop vs Revo with spinning mop.
I just bought the Revo from JB Commercial before I saw this deal. I've only use the Revo once to map the house and do a single vacuum run, but so far so good!

I've had this for a year now and its excellent especially on those Sunday nights where you need to clean the house in a hurry.

    Couple things to note:
    - If you have a 2 storey house like I have, it means you need to carry it up and down stairs
    - Every month suggest using a vacuum and steam mop to really deep clean tiles/floors. S7 mop is good, but run your fingers on the floor and it will not remove tough grime
    - Maintenance every month or so is needed meaning cleaning parts like sensors, sweepers.

  • I can buy a gaming desktop AND a laptop AND a mobile phone AND a broom for less than this

    • But can all of these items together clean your floor?

    • .. but what if you already had those, and wanted a top of the line robot vacuum so you could play games on your gaming rig, or lounge about with the laptop, or listen to music/podcasts/doom scroll on your phone? :D

  • Best purchase ever. I doubt anyone whose bought it has regretted it.

I understand the hesitation when going from Gen 1 xiaomi which did prove rock solid for me to this beast.

Roborock navigation is much better than the ozmo T8+ I had, not flawless but less mapping issues and better single suction point so no more matted dog hair getting stuck(never had to untangle brush roller since getting it.)

Pros: Doesn't get stuck and mapping is great boundary lines and no-go zone were a little tricky for my rental but got there in the end.
Auto-Mop cleaner is fantastic, only replaced the mop after 3-4months of use. Only having to replace clean water and empty dirty water is great.

Cons: Sometimes can do dumb things, ie if wifi getting cut long enough it will stop or get lost. Still can't avoid circular stools/objects but I think this is all robots. extremely flat objects still hard to avoid ie. usb cables lying flat/ extremely flat t-shirt. Mopping is a little weak compared to my T8+ . Dirty water extremely stinky after a week need to empty. Thinking of getting some kind of chemical for better cleaning performance but as previous comments suggested interested in what others have tried.

I think the only biggest leap next will be plumbed in water/waste which already exist in the s8 ultra in china.

    • With the stinky water issue, I wonder whether you can add some dettol into your clean water tank to combat it…?

  • This is in my wishlist too! Im also in the user group on Facebook, just want to do as much research as I can before I pull the trigger. I notice people are complaining about the smelly water tank :/ Im quite concerned though.

After looking for almost 6 Months, finally pulled the trigger. Thanks OP
Now need to find drying accessory on aliexpress, good smelling solution and anything extra people are sharing on this post.

We apologize once again for the delay and appreciate your understanding and continued support.

    • Do you know if this is legit an upgrade?

    • I got the same email. Did you go for the S7 Max Ultra they offered? I told them I'd rather wait for the S7 Maxv. They said they don't have an ETA and it might not be until mid-late Sep. Kinda hoping I don't get burned and get stuck without it.

      • Yeah I did, the RGB camera isn't important to me and we don't leave stuff on the floor aside from furniture so the slightly worse avoidance doesn't matter either whereas the auto drying is handy.

I can see those being deal breakers though.

        • I stupidly already bought the auto drying add-on for the Maxv. So technically for me, the avoidance was kind of a big selling point. We generally pick things up, but didn't want to feel like we had to clean the house before we cleaned the house if you know what I mean. I'll see how it goes and if I don't hear by the end of the month I might just go for the other one and eat my loss on the auto-dry module I bought.

  • Not sure what to do, it's not exactly an upgrade.
With the Roborock S7 Max Ultra Robot it's missing the RGB camera, so you can longer view the camera live.
It no longer has a detachable mop
The avoidance system is not as good as the s7 maxv

    • Yeah, I told them I'd rather wait for the S7 Maxv. But who knows if they'll just turn around and say they can't get it in a couple weeks.

      • Ditto - any update? I'm not convinced $1850 is going to be a special price for the Max, either …

        • Ok - spoke too soon. Stock of the Max has arrived and ready for shipping.

Looks like $1999 is their current sale price at PCByte.

"An International converter included" suggests it isn't Oz stock (the MaxV had no such comment…)

          • @FrontBottom: I just submitted a request for a refund. They called me to say stock had arrived and they would express ship it to me. I had to ask them specifically whether it was the S7 MaxV, to which they said it was an upgrade to the 7 Max Pro. Wasn't very impressed they were trying to pass it off like it was the product I ordered if I hadn't asked. They seemed to think the MaxV is end of life.

I might just order one from Kogan or something that says they have stock instead. It won't be as cheap unfortunately. Do you know what you're gonna do?

            • @yesterdayshero: @yesterdayshero - I haven't decided yet. Not a fan of the whole process either - especially that it seems like these are grey imports, not local stock given the non-AU power supply.

Found a comparison on reddit comparing the maxv to the max which helped my parents decide to go with the MaxV. I already have the MaxV and the camera helping with avoidance is just so useful, it can detect animal waste and avoid it. If higher suction is important to you because you have lots of carpets why wouldn't you just go with the S8 Pro Ultra which has 6000pa suction instead of the S7 Max with only 5500pa..

Here are the main differences on the s7 max (non v):

-no removable water tank on the back of the robot.

-no removable mop plate, have to pick up robot and slide mop cloth off by itself to remove instead of just pulling and sliding the mop plate right out from underneath the robot.

-no camera, less 3d light structure sensors (1 vs the 2 on maxv I believe) = worse object avoidance. Also you miss out on the camera/viewing feature on the app but can still drive it around manually if you want just with no vision.

-2 less cliff sensors on the bottom.

S7 max adds up to 5500pa suction vs 5100pa suction found on the s7 maxv but I doubt it really adds much extra cleaning capability.

So basically for the most part the s7 max robot is a downgrade compared to the s7 maxv but it includes a slightly updated and improved ultra dock with drying."
