[Preorder] Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra with Auto Emptying Dock $1849 + Delivery @ PCByte

660

Have been looking for a decent deal on the Roborock S7 with the auto emptying dock. My SO was trawling through the PCByte website when she noticed this.

It is a pre-order; based on the website it looks like it going to be approx 20 business days

Not the cheapest of all time, but definitely looks like the cheapest I could find.

Highly recommended. My first affordable Tesla.

    • Have you got one? Since how long? Has it got good battery life in the single run for a bigger house.

      • +2

I have one and have had it for 6-8 months. I've also had a S6 Pure for about 2.5 years.

They both run amazing and I particularly like this one as you only neeed to empty/clean the water tanks every 2-3 weeks depending on frequency. I run it 2x a week on my tiled downstairs and it works really well.
Battery charge never goes below 70% from a single clean - I almost wish I had a bigger space to make it more worthwhile

        • In regards to battery, how many sqm does it clean?

          • +4

@nicolascage: So my place is 32 sqm and that uses almost 30% on the dot each time. So extrapolating from that - it could do ~106sqm.
Also keep in mind this is with maximum scrubbing and vacuum power, returning to the dock every 15 minutes to rinse and wash the mop during the clean.
            Hopefully that helps

  • +13

Omg 1800 and i was wondering why inflation is stilll high… feel sad I'm clearly underpaid…

    • +4

Still a great time to jump to another company to chase that extra $. Some of the biggest % (20-40%+) pay increases realised in the last 5 years or so vs last 20.

    • 1800 is still cheaper then a cleaner. Sadly, it seems the hourly rate for a cheaper is higher then what i get paid…

      • You do it your self is still cheaper than either ;)

        • Depends how slow I am to do it lol. People who clean seem to do it so damn quick. Even if it's a rushed job at least it's efficient, I need to learn that skill

  • Any other discount code or cashback offer?

    • +3

i picked up the newer S8 PRO Ultra and accessory kit for $1950 from Jb Hi-Fi. I tied this in with the 15% extra loaded ultimate gift cards so ended up only costing me $1,695.

      • +3

How did you manage this? Can you post receipt?

        • +1

          Yeah +1 on this.

      • +1

The S8 pro is $2700 at JB are you sure you got it for $1950?

        • +6

He needs to post his receipt, sounds a bit fishy.

      • Can you share your receipt?

      • post the deal with receipt, might actually get one

      • +4

I'm waiting patiently at the boat ramp, in the sun, for you to share the receipt.

      • I am sure you got the other version. Not Ultra Pro

        • +4

Free accessory kit promo looks to of ended. Here is the reciept. It is definitely the s8 pro ultra as I have it sitting in front of me still in the box.

          • -2

@david6509: Mate, would have been good if you would have shared the deal then. How did you negotiate so low?

            • @amsaini15: Why so many negs? How he negotiated for $1950, is a valid question.

              • @ChipsChicky: I know :(

                • +3

@amsaini15: I went in to buy a Samsung Q990C soundbar that i had negotiated down to $950 over the phone, as i walking to the counter he asked if i wanted the new samsung robot vacuum to which i said im only really interested in the roborock unit as i already have one of the older models (S5 Max). He looked in his system and they had the S8 Pro Ultra on order coming in the following week and gave me that price without even bargaining. It sounded like a good deal and i had a stack of the 15% gift cards saved so i jumped on it. I ended up with an 8 foot long reciept which i thought was quite impressive.

      • +1

Thanks! I've used your receipt and send an enquiry to jbhifi for price match, the store near me call me and said they can price match it for me. Got it today for $1950, i dont have that much gift cards. so end up paying about $18xx for it. I get the extend warranty as well, but not sure whether i need it or not.

        • Which JBHIFI store was it? I called my local one and they said they can’t do it and someone made a mistake, shouldn’t have done it.

Best they could do was 2,470.

          • @ozsingh83: Browns plain store, the lady said she was surprised that manager approved it. And i talked to online chat, they said they can only do $2399.

How does it manage long hair entanglements ?

    • I want to know this too. Anyone with hairy house people care to share please.

    • +1

The standard brush is great with hair. It take a lot of neglect for it to tangle. If you have pets and carpet you may need the S6 combo brush, which does tangle a lot easier but even with two cats and a dog I clean it each week without issue.

    • +2

Work fine, but you have to clean the roller for time to time (easy to do), as it will make a fur ball in there.

    • The hair removal tool for this is really good imo, at least the one on my S5 max is. So this would likey be just as good if not better. Could probably get away with doing it less than once a week

    • +2

Hey, I have two people with long hair, plus two cats in my house.

It does a good job at picking their hair up, of course, and I haven't found the machine stopped because of excess hair.

We run it almost every day in the kitchen and dining room, and every week in the remaining rooms. Only one room is carpet (bedroom)

I clear the hair every week, and the process is very simple, and takes about 5 minutes. I haven't left it long enough to develop problems though.

I also don't have the ultra, only the plus, so I don't have the auto mop wash feature.

We also use a regular vacuum (Dyson v11) to do the carpet areas, as we find the Roborock (Bruce Springclean) isn't great at carpet (low pile). Bruce still picks up the hair from the carpet pretty well, but can't get all the dirt out.

Hope this helps, and make sure you give your Vac a name (very important)

      • +1

Thank you for sharing your insight. 👍

    • +2

Not at all. Im just lazy.
Nothing like running it when you’re out and coming back home to clean floors

    • +12

Guessing you don't have a washing machine or dishwasher either?

      • -8

Not a fair comparison at all.

        • +30

          How so?

"I still don't really get the appeal of these dishwashers. They take quiet some time to do cleaning/drying cycle compared to a normal sink and need special cleaning tablets. Are people so pressed on time they cannot spare time to wash dishes these days? and so weak a normal sink is 'tiring to use""

          • +10

@Aureus: Upvote for keeping the same spelling and grammatical errors in your version.

    • We have a multi floor house with a newborn and a double coated dog. We have a eufy robot vac, a dyson v15 detect, a miele "cat and dog" and a wet/dry vac for the garage.

Each has a specific role, e.g. the miele is for deep cleaning once a month, the eufy and roborock will be one floor each and clean on schedule every night. The dyson is for our weekly clean around the house as for spot cleaning/cleaning the car etc.

Lastly the reason why these are so well regarded is because they auto empty and auto clean at the docking station as needed.

      • And I thought I had a lot of vaccumms.

Is the cat + dog one a carpet cleaner?

        • Naah mate. It's the bag vacuum "Complete C3 Miele Cat and Dog".

We also have a Bissell 2x Revolution ProHeat Pet for our area carpets, rugs and upholstry.

          F me, I think I have a bit of a problem.

          • +1

@ThadtheChad: You're not alone mate. We have a Miele Cat and Dog (bought in 2008, still going strong - an excellent vacuum), a Dyson V12 stick vac for general use, a Kinchrome Wet and Dry for all the diy tasks, a Hoover Powerscruber carpet/upholstery washer and thinking about getting a robovac too.

With 6 of us in the house, including a medium haired cat and a double coated doggo, and 2 long haired ladies, and myself, frequently described by friends as "missing link", "Chewy" or "Sasquatch", there's usually a fair bit of hair about. Nothing wrong with more vacuums. We have about 4 mops too.

    • Really? You're that keen to spend 2hrs vacuuming, then mopping the floors every weekend?

I'd love a robot to do that for me. It's the last thing I feel like doing…. always.

      • +1

We have a cheap dreame model and we run it twice a day on a schedule.

Really helps with the upkeep and prolongs the time between busting out the heavy vacuum cleaner.

For everything else, we use the stick vac.

        • We have a stick vac and its pretty good, but we have dogs so if we go more than 2 days without vacuuming it really starts to build up.

I'd really like to get one of these but the price is a little up there. I can 100% see the benefit though.

    • +1

the utility comes from not needing to mop and vacuum yourself. it can take 2 hours or it can take 10 hours, you won't know because you're not the one doing it

    • It's a vacuum and a mop. Rather than spending an hour a week I can just let the robot run twice a week when I'm at work. What's hard to understand? It's like me paying for my pool man, gardener, car wash etc.

    • People probably said the same thing about the dishwasher and the washing machine.

And seems I'm not original AT ALL in my thinking 😂

  • +6

Life has become so much easier when you know house will be cleaned overnight and all you need to do is pick up toys and big paper pieces [my 2-year-old kid makes a mess of tissues] before going to bed. Just schedule a nightly vaccume+mop and clean/empty/fill the dock every morning [specially where mop is washed in the dock or else it starts smelling really bad]….
Highly recommended. I got it for 1650 with free mop drying unit a while back.

    • +1

OMG! People have been getting so cheap. Where was I then.. Lol

    • I have an almost identical use case and recommendation. This is a good bit of tech.

    • -1

Hrm, the name and the photo are the same… 🤔

      • The name is slightly different

    • Cursory glance, it does look the same.

  • +3

I grabbed one on eBay last night for $1799 using a $100 off promo code

Is the warranty under AU warranty?

    • +1

Good price. I am wondering same about Australian warranty?

      • It's shipping from NSW with 3 days delivery so I'd expect Australian warranty

    • Did they ship the order ? Mine is not shipped yet bought on 20th

  • oh it's a robot vacuum
i saw the photo and said wtf is this thing?

  • -2

CN this do rub, tug cycle?

  • I have a Deebot T9+. I hate it.

    Is this really good?

    • This probably one of the best robot vacuum other than the new s8 ultra pro in the market.

  • +1

    Comment-blocked :(

You can also get the dryer module off aliexpress for around $68.

Works quite well to dry off the mop during cold winter days.

    • Please share the link for the one you have.

  • What's the difference between this one and S8 pro?

    • +3

S8 has no camera for security reason (people worry about privacy and such but no known case) and have some sensors instead. I think the reviewers said it performs slightly worse than this S7 variant.

S8 also has a slightly different upgrade on its mopping pad and its suction. But not noticeable.

S8 is a newer model but not necessarily a better one.

  • I have this but with the auto-empty dock (no mop cleaner). Know that this won't free you of having to clean the house if you have carpets as it lacks the suction power. I still do a manual vac every week and there's plenty of dust. No longer need to vacuum the tiled areas though :)

    • Do you have the MaxV? If so, the boost cycle once per week (to compliment nightly vacuum and mopping) with the 2x option gets everything out of my carpets. I use my V15 on the Boost and with the gates closed once per month and it still picks up a lot of the robot gets anything visible (plus heaps of deep down dirt and sand).

      • Yes, S7 MaxV with Auto-Empty Dock. Carpets vacuumed every other day (so 3-4 times a week) on boost mode. Dyson barrel vac once a week on carpets is full of dust and dirt, and my house is a take off shoes at the door policy. Robovacs simply don't have the suction power to effectively maintain carpet. I would replace my carpet with floorboards if I had the money to spare.

Also, the S7 MaxV totally fails to pick up visible lint (largely from socks) on the carpet. Frankly its carpet cleaning performance is terrible. Even if I accepted more buried dust and did a manual vac less regularly the lint would be unbearable.

    • The Roomba S9 is the only one I know that still, after all these years, does a good job on carpet deep cleeaning.

  • +1

I remember buying the OG Roborock from eBay a few years back for $200-300 or whatever it was.

WTF has gone on with pricing. Mine still works perfectly fine too

    • +2

Well they are those who wants the finer things in life regardless of the cost. Unfortunately, I am (seems like you too) are not one of them.

      • Yeah I'm in the same category here. My $500 S5 max is still going strong. I woulda thought by now for the same price you'd easily get something just as good if not better and the equivalent of an S5 max now would be $300-400 but it doesn't seem to have gotten that way.

The technology advancements haven't really resulted in a lessening of price. I guess a bit like smart phones (when only flagships models were over $1k).

  • Any thoughts on this verse q7 max plus?

  • I need this, to upgrade from my old Xiaomi first gen vac.

Will it know to vacuum the bedroom carpets, but vacuum and mop the ensuite bathroom and tiled hallway, either side of the bedroom.

I work ridiculous shift work and if this saves me any time, it's on my purchase list ASAP

  • I have the S7 but no dock. Is it worth the upgrade? How much do I really gain by having the dock?

    • I'm assuming you still have the charging doc. But basically this just means cleaning out the dust bin less often. It depends a lot on your house, for me I can empty the bin every 2-3 days without a hassle so it's not a huge game changer. But in my old house that thing would be full or close enough to it everyday so if I missed it, the cleaning wouldn't be as great.

Really depends on what you'd like. Tbh I think they're a sick thing to own but I also don't think the cost is worth it for me at least.

  • I have 3 robo vacuums and find roborock filtration systems to be the worst out of them. Their robots only have a single stage filter. Others have a mesh plus a foam pre filter, making it a 3 stage filter.

    • Do you reckon it misses stuff or just clogs up quicker than the others?

I haven't really noticed anything too bad with it in terms of putting dust everywhere (at least nothing like my wet/dry vacuum) but that doesn't really mean much as it's hard to tell by itself

      • Roborock has the best navigation and never gets stuck. But have to clean the so called hepa filter more often than the others.

      • I've always put a "single ply" of tissue paper in front of the filter. This catches most of the fine dust and is easy to chuck out and extend the life of the filter.

  • +3

I've had this for about a year now, purchased around the $2200 odd mark.
Best purchase i've made, reducing what usually took 2-3 hours to vacuum and mop hardwood floor/tile.

I run a vacuum + mop every morning and night, waking up to a clean streak free tiling with the OMO solution.
Purchased spare genuine accessories off aliexpress for 20% less than AU pricing.

About to renovate the laundry and building a dedicated auto fill/empty plumbing into a hidden compartment.
The usual maintenance is key, checking brushes and cleaning of filters which the app reminds you.

    Buy with confidence :)

    • +2

Could you elaborate on the "OMO solution"?

      • Official roborock solution, i see on many facebook groups of other cheaper alternatives that may end up clogging/voiding warranty, personally one cap per full clean water tank with a purchased solution from aliexpress/sale will last a few at least 2 years. i'm 1/3 of my bottle with daily mopping for 1 year.
Refilling the water tank every 2-3 days, settings of mop is on max.

    • +2

Wouldn't it be too loud at night? Or do you run it on another floor or something.

      • You can set the suction power to low/med/high so it isn't loud minus the emptying of the dust bin

        • +1

Fair enough, my S5 max even on quiet is loud enough to wake up people, particularly as it runs into things so I'd never get away with it with family members. If it was just me it might be different.

    • Doesnt the official website and manual says to only use water?

  • +1

Purchased this a couple months ago with the JB Hifi sale.

This thing is a godsend. It does my entire first floor twice a week. I just give the edges, corners of the house a wipe every couple of weeks.

I use it with the roborock cleaning liquid (can buy from China or on ebay).

    • Can you please share link for the cleaning liquid?
