have a set myself, not worth it, feels flimsy and cheap plastic.
the glow stick was cracked already. not recommended.

Saved me from (another) impulse buy. Thanks mate.

    • +5

I am shocked that cheap crap is crap.

      Cheap does not mean bargain.

    • +1

Thanks. Almost just bought a set

    • How's the multi tool? Worth $10?

      • +1

        Can't say about the multitool..
I bought this set at $5 as a clearance stock last week, someone has stolen the multitool and the batteries hence the reduced price.
Even so, I'd rather buy $5 worth of fairy lights then a bunch of dust collectors.

        • 😂 Those are probably the only things worth anything…makes sense that they stole them I suppose.

    • +3

Note to self: always read comments before purchasing.

    • I think people forget just how cheap torches have become. Yes, this is 4 lights for $10 ($2.50 each including batteries) but you can buy little torches for $3 most days of the week.

In the event of a blackout, having this is better than nothing, but not by a whole lot.

  • +9

half price crap is still crap

literally an aliexpress brand….bunnings isnt even pretending anymore!

    • +2

      Swiss+Tech
      (Made in China)
      ((Presumably))

  • +5

Duracell batteries included, almost worth it just for batteries these days :o

    • +1

If you have enough envelopes why do you need Duracell

      • +9

Envelope's don't provide much power though!

  • +1
    • You reckon the price will further drop?

      • +5

Not sure about the price. Quality might… although it's already very low.

  • +3

Why do i keep counting 6 items in the photo?

    • -1

I think they have put the pocket torch twice on the photo.

    • Because there is 6 items in the photo.

    • Because the torch is shown twice, from 2 different POVs.

  • +3

From the same country as Victorinox! 🤣

  • Swiss-tech lantern is $29.98, down from $45

  • +3

Use of AAA is crap. Doesn't last long and many to recharge.

    • And they cost as much as AA, they maybe OK in some low power things, not torches.

      • +2

They're fine in a single battery torch the size of your pinky finger. But yes, once you get 'regular' sized with multiple cells they generally aren't a good option.

        • Even the lantern uses AAA.
I think someone at Duracell put this bundle together.

  • +1

    Lol.

"Swiss"+"Tech" 5 Piece "Ultimate" Light Set

For those who bought, what appeals about this? Is it "Swiss" in the name?

    • +3

10 Duracell AA's make up half the value

    • +1

I'd buy it for the headband light and 10 AAA batteries.

  • +1

Would buy if it was $5.

  • +1

Bought 3 for the kids camping gift

    • +1

Precisely the use case I bought for. Kids loved it!

  • Bought 2 for my kids. Every time I take them to Bunnings they point at this overpriced Swiss Tech junk that’s hanging all over the store and hassle me to buy it and I was running out of excuses.

$9.50 a pop with PowerPass and comes with 10 aaa Duracells.

Not really a bargain because it’s junk but at least it will stop them playing with and misplacing my good torches.

    • Can you share what your good torches are? 😬

      • +1

Not OP, but my good torch is the LED Lenser P6R Signature. Found on sale a few months ago.

Best torch I've ever owned. Why? It has a dedicated separate mode dial switch that can be programmed to do whatever you want. I've set mine to switch between brightness modes. This allows the main power button to serve one purpose: power on/off. No risk of activating some other function if you hold it down too long or whatever.

I hate torches where you need to hold the button down to switch torch off, or when the power button does different things depending on how you press it. I want it to instantly power on/off when I press it, like any classic old school torch. If I want to change brightness or modes, I prefer a separate button or dial for that. I can't understate the importance of this rare feature these days - a power button that can be assigned to do one job only, and a physical mode dial that remains in the mode you left it when last used.

        • +3

          but its a $347 torch

it better be the best goddamn torch ever made

          • @tonyjzx: I would never pay that. I got mine for $175 from snowys.com.au, but they no longer have that model by the looks of it.

The "best" torch ever made is the one you like because of reasons you decide, such as ergonomics and specific features you want.

I also can't stand torches with the power button on the end, it makes no sense! Power button should be placed where your thumb naturally rests on the torch, nowhere else.

            • @cerealJay: Arn't power buttons on the base generally like tactical torches?

From my vast hollywood movie-watching experience, all first world law enforcement officers always carry the torch in a weird, upside down twisted postion to make it easier to pew pew people.

              • @WasBargain: But in movies they still grip the torch at the light end when held "overhand". They are gripping the neck, just under the head of torch. Power button still needs to be in same place.

One reason actors carry torches like that in movies is because the torch is less likely to interfere with set lighting and camera. Holding the torch higher means the beam points down in front of actor, rather than shine randomly around the set. It's possible cops prefer this grip in real life if the battery end is so big it doubles as the business end of a baton, so is a bit like resting a baseball bat on your shoulder.

                • @cerealJay: I'm fairly sure it's to brace their firing hand.. 😅 And still allowing the use of the torch button. It makes sense for law enforcement and military use. I've even seen some models of large rifles braced in the opposite elbow while running and firing to their side (no torch ofcourse). Although, this particular set would not be in their arsenal.. 🤣

  • It will be good for night fishing, so if i lose it. I wouldn't be worried as much as my expensive ones.

  • Missing cable ties
