    • wow they lowered it even more! wth EDit: nvm its the black colour. I wonder why its $50 cheaper..

      • That’s a different colour.

No rotating bezel = no deal

  • +8

My 2 cents for owning one for 6months.

    Pro's
    - Battery life for daysssssss
    - Titanium build quality

    Con's
    - Laggy
    - touch dial sucks
    - health tracking all over the place
    - GPS inaccurate

    • +2

I've owned the watch 2 (active?) and it had the exact same cons lol

    • +2

Agree. I had one of these and sold it in no time, couldn’t get used to it. Apple on the other hand (pardon the pun) have nailed it with their Watch. Yes, as a non fanboy, I appreciate both operating systems.

      • +3

Agreed, but apple watch battery is the worst, and only available in rounded rectangle, otherwise it blows android watches or off the water.

      • I'm a non fanboy as well and think both the Apple Watch Ultra and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro look great. I own the GW5Pro and the battery life is good, but the cons listed above are accurate. I only use it to answer work calls when my hands are tied and to make payments so if Garmin releases a solar watch with mic + audio I'll switch.

I am no longer feeling inclined to purchase this watch after reading your comment

      • get the huawei watch, much better build qualty and battery lasts for 4 to 5 days nad have a power saving mode that pushes the battery to 20 days almost.
you lose the payment iwht NFC but other than that, very happy with it

    • +4

Does it tell you the time? if so, put that in the PROs.

      • It lags..

        • HOLY MOLY! A $500 watch that doesn't tell you time properly.

and a FULL self drive which doesn't at all. $10k.

What an age to live in.

    • +1

I had the 4 classic and also sold it in no time due to delayed notifications, laggy control, and step tracking while sleeping.

    • was close to pulling the trigger but not anymore with all the comments about lag + other cons!

Interestingly none of the reviews seems to suggest much issues

      • pretty much all the samsung watches will lag sometimes. I havent used other brands tho.

      • I wouldn’t have any issues either if it was handed to me for free in exhange for a biased review.

  • Do we neee special sim plan or just insert any sim to use LTE calling functionality ?

    • +1

You use an esim. Heaps of providers around for them

    • +1

It's kinda painful, you generally have to be with either Telstra, Optus or Vodafone direct and on a post paid plan to get the "same number" esim setup.

There is hacky ways of loading an esim on that's a different number and different plan to your phone, but I've read a few people having huge battery drain issues that even a factory reset doesn't fix after they have done that… So tread carefully.

I'd just get the Bluetooth model personally.

  • that's a good price the for LTE pro version. Got a W5P myself and battery goes for about 3 days.

  • Does anyone know how good is this unit, compared to fitbit or garmin ? In term of sleep tracking, and readyness ?

Fitbit charges subscription fees to access readyness and sleep details, when Garmin and Samsung provide the stats, without extra costs, but in lieu of higher unit price.

I have a samsung, I'd go a garmin if I had my choice again

Wore Fitbit sense and this for a few days .
      This is my comparison.
Samsung 5 pro doesn't tell you readiness scores.
Samsung sleep tracking not as good either, no temperature sensor on S5 pro either. Oddly Samsung gives way lower Oximetry readings too. Have tried it in comparison with Medical grade sensor as well as Fitbit sense.
Samsung seems better than Fitbit sense 2 with detecting arrythmias and their ECG will still show you it if abnormal. Samsung has BP tracking too , but requires callibration with a real sphygmomanometer once a month.Samsung also has falls detection and call for help.Samsung seems to auto detect exercise better and has more activities to choose from.
Battery life for Samsung almost same as Fitbit sense 2, it lasts over 4 days with display always on ( except when sleeping).
Samsung not laggy like Fitbit sense. Fitbit really slow with notifications and any "smarts", my phone also said Fitbit app was using substantial battery.
My verdict is Fitbit sense 2 lives in a drawer and Samsung watch 5 pro lives on my wrist.
The faster processor, more functions , easier to use is why the Samsung is a keeper.
The Fitbit would probably be better suited for your mother who doesn't really know how to use her phone properly, you know the person I mean, your older relative that basically only uses it as a watch, the one who would buy an apple watch but wouldn't know what to do with it , but says it can do everything.
I did see an older gent with the Samsung pro on recently aandcsaud wow , nice watch it's a Samsung 5 pro. He said is it , my kids got it for me and it tells the time. I told him to get the kids to set up falls detection and AF warnings.

      • This watch has Temperature sensor.

      • Thanks for the detailed comparison!
Its hard to get all rounder for sleep tracker, fitness tracker and health.

From the youtube channel, apple (ultra, 8 or SE) seems to be the winner for all rounder. But only if you have apple ecosystem.

No BS channel that evaluates specifically the health aspects of smartwatches.

      • Love that channel. Very detailed.
Apple ultra or SE seems to be the winner for sleeping.

  • Has anyone looked at Ticwatch Pro 5? That seems to tick a lot of boxes.

  • I have a Samsung flip and an iPhone 13 pm. I use an Apple Watch (just a S4) and it’s faultless.

Seriously considering the 5 Pro Samsung as the batter sounds awesome.. but it sounds like I’m spoiled by the AW experience and will disappointed by the 5 pro.
