I got 1000 points or 30 status credits

    • Gold member here. I was given the option of 5000 points or 75 status credits.

I chose the 75 status credits, and got to renew my gold for another year.

  • I think might depend what status you are as to what the offer is.
My offer was 30SC or 1000 Qantas.

    • T&C’s insert “Qantas Points and Status Credit amounts are based on the flying activity of the Qantas Frequent Flyer within the period stated above.”

  • Interesting. I'm WP but have flown only a couple of times this past year. My 'gift' was a choice of 1000 points or 30 SCs.

Also it wasn't on my home screen - I had to go to 'My QFF'.

    • Had to update the app or refresh the screen. Appeared at the top under my points and SC's on the home page.

  • According to the T&C it’s based on flight activity.

Am silver, offered 75SC or 5000pts. Weeee!

  • +1

    I’m bronze. 5k points or 75 sc

  • Silver and was offered 1000pts or 30 SC

  • +2

    Bronze, PC+, 75 SC’s or 5,000pts

  • +2

I updated the app, logged in, checked My QFF. Nothing… So reloaded the app and it appeard on the home screen. 1000 points, thanks!

    • Same happened to me - i force closed the app and reopened it and it was at the top of the home screen.
      Gold - 75 status or 5000 points
      Thanks!

  • +1

I’m 15 points away from finally getting silver. I’ve only got 6 days left - what can I do?

    • +3

Silver doesn’t really get you much. Gold is what’s up

      • +15

I was entering the QF SYD intl lounge once and saw some woman complaining about something and justifying her idiotic stance by screaming “I’m a SILVER Frequent Flyer!!!!”. ‘Twas regal af

        • +1

Up to gold youvfind more of that behaviour, once you get regular gold and plat people theres less of that. These groups knows how the game is played, what they can get and can't get.

      • Oh carrrnnn! Get around him/her!

      • +1

Lifetime Silver is a good though.

      • Doesn't silver get a couple of lounge passes?

    • +1

Do nothing. From memory it only gets you 2 passes to the lounge, and pehaps a luggage tag. You can get those for very little cost.

I got the 75SC/5000 pts offer which is nice.

      • +1

"In recognition of your status, you earn 50% more points than Bronze members on eligible flights* with Qantas, Jetstar and American Airlines."

      • +1

There’s also additional baggage allowance (23 to 32kg domestic economy on QF, some also on international flights), though the entitlement is shared with QC members (so could just buy that next sale)

      • +1

It's one lounge pass for silver. Yep, 1.

    • Take silver. Better than 1000 points.
At least you'll have it for a year too.

  • +1

WP1, offered 75SC or 5000pts. Nice! I have done a lot of flying this month.

    • +3

Love it, WP1 and haunts OzB. Mad respect

    • WP1 too but 30/1000

      • Huh, that's interesting. I assume you've had a quiet year so far?

  • Gold and 75/5000.

More importantly though what’s everyone choosing? Unsure if I’ll retain gold next year so tempted to go points 🤔

    • +1

Are you likely to achieve LTS or LTG in your lifetime? I think the SC will count towards that.

IMO 75SC is usually worth more than 5000pt. I’m in a similar situation to you where the SC probably won’t achieve anything - I’ll retain Silver this year by flying, but I won’t fly enough to get to Gold. I’ll probably take the points, because they’ll be more useful than having SCs to let expire.

      • Lifetime silver is a possibility. Im 30 and about halfway there.

        • +2

75 SC is achieved from 2 round-trips from Perth to Mel/Syd in economy.

So you'll get LTS 6-12 months earlier taking this. 5,000 points doesn't even get a flight from Syd-Mel on JQ…

          • +1

@ol mate: Fair cop. I’ve also got 400,000 points and rack up 15k per month easily so it’s a drop in the ocean I guess. SC it is.

    • More importantly though what’s everyone choosing? Unsure if I’ll retain gold next year so tempted to go points

I only have the 30SC/1000pts offer, which I think is probably an easier choice (ie. just take the SC even if they won't achieve anything much other than counting to lifetime status, as 1k pts is worth very little).

    • Does anybody know if counts towards your life time credit?

    • WP, offered the 75/5000, took the 75SC, as already have 900K QP and "only" need 2276 SC for LTG. So adding each SC for that until ticks over and then decide as it arises.

  • +5

FYI I had to update my Qantas app for it to appear

    • +1

      Thanks for this tip!

    • +1

      Same, thanks!
Silly Android, Y U No auto update apps?

    • I couldn't even login… so i had to uninstall and reinstall the app :D
      Have gotten 30 SC vs 1000 points…

  • Platinum 30/1000. My new year started in May and I haven’t done any flying yet.

  • I had 1000/30. I think I've only flown Qantas with reward flights hence the minimum offer.

If you don't have an offer in the app ensure you have updated via the play store.

  • Gold, also haven’t done any flying since may. 30/1000.

Makes you wonder whats in the T&Cs. Oh well 🤷‍♂️😆

    • +1

Maybe if you click the "Go to Deal" link that leads to the terms and conditions, you can read about it?

    • -2

Also wondered the same thing. Maybe something along the lines of 'acceptance of this gift will forfeit any class action ability'. Thankfully, used all my travel credits, but what a debarkle.

      • Likely right. Don't have anything outstanding thankfully. Also too lazy to read.

  • +1

Got 75SC/5000 pts offer. Should mean I get Silver for life in the next 18 months.

    • -1

Stand back lads, we got a heavy hitter here

    • +3

The biggest gain from lifetime silver is regret

  • Bronze, 30SC or 1000 points. Flew using their $50 sorry voucher (I usually fly Virgin) - thanks Qantas!

  • WP, 75/5000

  • Thanks OP - I'm bronze and got 30 SC!

  • Thanks OP
Had nothing on my homepage but once deleted the app and reinstalled it from the App store and logged in, offer was there. 75 status credit, one trip away from gold. Very happy!

  • Gold 75/5000.

Selected 75SC. Good for status renewal, and it should also count for lifetime credits.

Now just waiting for Chairman's Lounge membership as the rest of us battlers.

    • +1

There’s a Qld state election next year ;) winning that may or may not result in a CL invite

  • what does status credit do?

    • +6

Gets you status if you have enough status credits

    • +2

Gets you addicted to learning how to earn them and then taking SC runs to achieve another year in platnium instead of spending that time with family and friends….

  • 75 status, bronze

Qantas needs all the goodwill they can buy. Since covid restrictions lifted i think they are one of the most complained about companies in australia.

I had a bad experience once where they literally tore my ticket up as i was boarding, after being fully checked in and in the airport for a couple hours.. and was advised it was because 'someone else was willing to pay more for the seat'. ACCC wont do anything and the complaint line at qantas said 'due to the volume of complaints, it will be 6 months before you get a response', and it was about that timeframe for a generic, care free response about it (and here i was thinking scalping was illegal in australia).

And mine was a minor experience, heard many stories about flight cancellation refunds taking that long to process, IF they get processed at all.

After choosing qantas for most of my life i now look to Virgin first, and my wife travels with them all the time and says they are great.

    • They are due to release results today.

Probably a “we had a great year, thanks to our frequent flyers. Here’s us giving back to y’all” thing.

  • Silver 75/5000.
    Went with SC.

  • Silver, PC+, 11 flights on QF since 1/7/22 (9 reward tickets, 2 revenue at my employer’s expense). Got 75SC/5,000pts

  • +1

LTG got nothing. Reinstalled app etc.

    Golden handcuffs unrewarding.

    • Have you actually flown recently?

      • This ^ The T&C's say it's based on flight activity.

  • Platinum and got the 75/5000 offer 😁

  • Gold here, 75 SC or 5000 points. went SC. better install the App for Wife.

    • Or just use your app.
Log out, log in with her credentials.

      • good idea, thanks

Interesting she has been on most of the same flights, but bronze status. 30DC or 1000 points.

  • I flew yesterday and am silver. No points or sc. Updated my app but no luck

    • Log out. Then log in again

      • I had already done that. Should have been clearer. Also have a flight in 3 days. I wonder if that has made it not pop up.

        • +1

          Uninstall did the job

  • 75 sc

  • Thanks Op. we flew (with points) during Easter. We got 1000 each

  • +1

Any had any luck if they've only flown on Qantas affiliated flights?

  • Nothing here. Flew international Sept 22 and a couple of Adel-Mel flights in Jan 23.

  • I have not flow so far in this date range.
But have a QF flight next week before the 30th Aug.
interesting to see if this applies to me.

  • Damn, my SC will expire at the end of August, 8 days left, and I need to claim the bonus by the 30th. Would it be too risky to claim the 75SC rather than the 5000 points? I don't really want to get the SC credited and then removed a day later.

    • Claim on the 30th

    • says it takes upto 2 days to be credited. claim on last day and hope they roll into your next membership year.

    • Problem is what QF will classify the "earn date" for the SC as. If it's 30/8, then they'll still expire on 1/9.

    • I'm asking Qantas let see if they reply before the EOM

    • If it helps to get an idea of timing, I redeemed on 24 August and got the SC credited on 25 August. I'm also in the same boat as you, but felt SC is better because it brings me closer to LT gold

    • I’m in the same boat. You think they mean claim by midnight 29th or midnight 30th when they say “claim by 30th”?

      • I have mine credited and removed the 1/9/23 but I was able to contact Qantas and got the points back a couple of days ago.

  • -7

T&C were met, but have not received the points after updating the app.

    • Log out, then log back in

      • -2

        Still didn’t work

I chose 30 status credits but not showing up now, wonder if it takes time on the back end to update or should be instant?

        • +7

The app says it will take up to 4 business days to apply to account after you make your choice.

        • Did you read the text on the page where you claimed it? It literally said (right underneath the gift) it could take up to 4 business days for it to show in your account…

      • -1

Did log out. Did uninstall app and re-install. Nothing.

    • How do you think you have qualified first off?

      • Who has flown Qantas between 1 July 2022 and 30 August 2023 looks to be eligible
