  • Excellent. I fly about 12-14 times a year but largely regional flights, only earning 10SCs a time, so even Silver is a long way off and most airports I fly to have no lounge anyway, but 5000 points is nice, a Syd-Melb flight is 6400 so that's nearly a free flight.

  • Confirmed. just logged in and choose 30 SC.

  • I have to delete the app, then re-install it, to get the gift.

  • Bronze. Can't seem to get any points shown. Have uninstalled and reinstalled

  • Thanks OP. Got 75 SC.

  • -1

    Got nothing

    Updated and logged out/in

  • +3

Surely this is a goodwill gesture after posting a $2b profit

  • If I attain silver with 1 month left, do I only keep silver for that remaining month?

    • +1

It'll be for the next membership year and you have 12 months to retain

  • Nothing

  • +1

I know silver is kinda useless, but needed exactly 25 status credits by the end of the month, so just worked out perfect timing. Thanks @BangkokBreakfast for the heads up!

  • Got 1k points. Thanks

  • thanks OP. 75 SC - gold here.

  • Thanks OP! Easy $10

  • got 1000 pts

  • +1

I'm a WP and fly a lot so thankfully got the 75/5,000 option and took the SC's

  • +1

Can someone post the date of when their status credits are applied compared to when they accepted the offer? My status year ends on 31 August and I’ve achieved gold already but wouldn’t mind a 75 status credit head start on next year.

I know it says within 4 days but want to know if they backdate it

    • I imagine it would apply the moment the status points land into your account so won't have much control of that. Maybe hold off and claim the gift on 30 August before 11:59pm? You might be lucky and have it applied to your account in September.

Edit: I had to claim missing Status points for a flight and the points were applied on the date the points landed in my account, not when I flew (checked my activity statement)

      • Thanks - that’s what I hoping. I’ll hang out to the last possible time and do it. Hopefully a few here will be able to give an indication

      • applied on the date the points landed in my account.

That is true for flights but you will find they immediately expire if you claim them after the 'membership year'.

        • Interesting. I've never had the opportunity to test it out so would be interesting to see how @psychomagic goes.

          • @DevlicK: No harm in trying.

And no harm in a phone call to see if they can roll them over in those circumstances.

For my flights, just double checked and the status credit were applied on the date credited but then comes up in a second line item for "EXPIRED STATUS CREDITS" under the Other in your Transaction History. So I got +40 SC then - 40SC.

    • I redeemed on 24 August and got the SC credited on 25 August

Why did I get neg on my comments (No idea…..) that I didn't get the points even after reinstalling and re-login.. Not blaming anyone. Just telling you that I have not received it. ..

    • +1

Because it pretty clearly stated that it will take up to 4 days to land in your account, or something to that effect, as you accepted the offer.

  • Nothing here - only a few Qantaslink flights in the last year

    • Were they registered to your frequent flyer account and within the T&C period?

      • Just checked - they were redeemed through Cathay Pacific points, so no joy for me

Is this Qantas' way of making us feel like they're giving us back some of their $2.47B profit?

    • Yep that’s my guess

    • +5

No, just trying to make it's members feel special, considering they're probably paid more for flights than through other airlines 🤣

      • probably….you mean definitely.

and then if. you used one of your travel credits you paid even more probably double then if you'd bought the ticket without the travel credit

    • Sad that with this amount of earnings, still no dividends payout
got some shares of QAN during COVID so its still a earning though

    • Be good if they paid back the massive hand out they got from us all as a private company, no doubt todays result will see Joyce walk off into the distance with some ridiculous bonus 🙄 then only good thing to happen todaybis he is going. Only use qantas for reward flights thanks to everyday rewards if i have to pay its ANA or hawaiian, sing etc.

Only thing of value is the status credits.

  • -4

I must say this seems a little dubious.. To get the points I have to upgrade the app.. Hopefully they aren't trying to hide a security breach by encouraging an update?

In saying that I got the offer and the status credits :) Happy but suspicious

    • Ask not what the app can do tor you, but what you can do for the app.

    • It's an app. Apps get updated often.

Ah nice of Qantas to send us some love after keeping $2.7 billion of taxpayers-funded Jobkeeper dole. Anyone worked out how much $2 billion is in terms of Qantas points/status?

    https://www.skynews.com.au/australia-news/corporate-greed-tw…

    • +1

Very clearly designed to be offered as the news of their record $2.47bn profit was set to be announced.

  • Bronze, flew 3 return flies since July 2022 (all reward flies)
    got 30/1000
not able to reach 300 SC anyway, so guess 1000 pt is better than nothing

  • Got 1000 points. Thanks!

  • -1

    does jetstar count?

    • -1

      The T&Cs have the answer:

Flights taken on Jetstar, partner airlines, or any flight that is not operated by Qantas, or staff travel flights are excluded from this offer.

      • -1

QF Flight numbers should count. They collude with Emirates to not complete on routes and then don't reward people for taking their usually more expensive codeshare options.

        /rant.

  • I flight with a QF number redeemed reward seat and no bonus showed~

  • Gold, 75SC.

  • So I have the offer but I must accept before 30/8. My membership year ends 31/8. Wondering if that means I can see my 75 SC for a day before they disappear?

    • +1
    • It said it would take 4 days to credit so you may get lucky.

  • +1

LTG, P - 3 international flights in last 12 months, 2 of them in the last 2 months - 30SC or 1000 Pts
(zero chance of keeping P, so took the points)

    • but its 30SC closer to LTP….

      • at my current rate it will take 600 years to get LTP

  • Got my 1000points. Cheers.

  • +2

Nice - gets me over the line for Platinum without buying a flight

  • Platinum … 75 SCs or 5k Points is the offer

  • +1

Bronze and got 1000/30. Flew QF once this year.

I chose SC only because the QFF choice is so small considering credit card offers. The SCs will make no difference anyway as I don't fly enough before they reset in 6 months time.

    • +3

Why didn't you go for points then in that case? As long as you earn some QFF points, the points don't expire.

      • Had 700k qff at one point and have managed to spend it down to 300k. I just can't see the value of 1k. And if I somehow fly QF again in the near future, maybe the extra SC could tip me into Silver.

        • +3

SC will expire during membership year ends
unless you are confident to gain enough SC before the membership year end (to reach next tier)
otherwise I reckon still better to get points instead

One exception to this is if you have point club plus
which allows you to bring over 100 SC to the next membership year
if you do not have 100SC in the current year, this 30SC will also bring it to next year

          • @littlesoldier: Didn't know about the Points Club Plus carryover but unfortunately I'm not even in Points Club (lapsed because Bankwest took 5 months to credit their signup bonus point I needed; but that's another discussion).

The choice between 1k QFF or 30SC was really not great for my circumstance so it came down to a straw draw.

      • Same thinking. I got offered 5000pts or 75 SC. I'm currently WP but almost zero chance of re-earning WP over next year.

5000 isn't much, but still worth more than those SC in this case.

  • After again losing 250 points on July 1, this may come in handy this year.

  • I've done 10 QF fight sectors in the last 12 months.

Got 30 SC or 1000 points. I feel that should have got me the higher offer.

1000 points is nothing. I've averaged about 10,000 points per month through Everyday Rewards alone so it's as good as nothing.

  • +2

Said i did 62,000km and offered 75 SC which got me over the line for Platinum!…

  • Got 1,000 points for return Rewards flights 😉

  • Gold here, flown about 4 times recently, 30/1000 offer. Better than nothing - took the 30SC as not far away from lifetime silver FWIW….

  • +1

    So I got 75, my son (16) 30 and my daughter (9) 75… Methinks it's kind of random…

  • I selected my 75 status credits

  • Mine hasn't shown up? Weird, I'm definitely eligible. I've logged out/in, checked and no app updates (Iphone). Guess I'll wait :(

    • Try deleting the app and reinstalling

    • It says it takes up to 4 business days for the points to show in your account.

    • +1

Update the App - only seems to work in the app and didn't show on the PC web app.

  • -1

only for people whom travel with qantas last 12 month or?

  • Thanks OP. Chose 30 SC. Now 402 short of lifetime Silver

  • I chose 30 SC. Only flew domestic once this year and am Bronze member. I've got Points Club Plus so will carry forward up to 100 SC until I can start to fly more.

    • +1

agree that 30SC gives more value for point club plus member

  • -1

How long does it take for the SC to reflect? I selected this morning but still not reflecting.

    • +2

Within four business days. Says it in app on the page where you activate, right next to the eyesight test. :)

  • +1

BTW based on the email I just received, the range in offers is based on total kms travelled between June 2022 and august 2023.

Im bronze and did 23k km and was given 5k/30 SC payout.

  • I wonder if there is a minimum number of flights (greater than 1) in that period to get the offer? I have only flown Qantas once in that time period, and don't see the offer in the app

    • +1

Answering my own question - it now appears - 1000 points or 30 status credits. I just had to be patient

  • -3

I clicked on 75 status and it said congrats or something but now i cant see those in my app. Still shows 0 status credit?

    • +4

      I give up

    • +1

Said mine with appear in my account within 3-4days

    • Quite clearly said it would take up to four days to appear.

  • Really appreciate this post I been trying to get silver for a while with FIFO flights but keep getting very close and the year ending

  • 75 status for my "loyalty"

  • +1

I got 30 SC - just under 400 to go before LTS.

  • Am bronze. Is the 1000 Qantas points better or 30 status points?

    • +2

This is dependent on your personal circumstances.

  • -1

did anyones status credits appear instantly? im hoping to time it so i receive them in september in a new membership year and it says it could take upto 4 days.

  • Silver and did a $8K fare to the US last week and a domestic round trip this week. Got 1K/ 30. Think it’s random.

  • 1000 points each for our family of 4 for one reward flight, I'm happy with that.

  • I flew in June and got 30/1000. Nice!

  • Anyone having issues with the app?

  • +1

8yr Platinum status, got the 75/5000 offer.

Was only 45 credits shy of renewing my Platinum for another year (100 days to go), but was more interested in the credits for getting one step closer to lifetime Gold.

  • Silver club member, got 75 credits. Silver expiring by Sep end and I am travelling in Oct and Dec. Has anyone been successful in extending the expiry date? Or status match with Star Alliance Gold?

  • While I'm happy to accept the 1,000 points it seems pathetic that we're all so grateful for this pittance after the record profit announced and all the taxpayer funds Qantas has gobbled up.
