ECOVACS DEEBOT N8 Pro Floor Cleaning Robotic Vacuum $499 (Was $799) + Delivery ($0 C&C/in-Store) @ JB Hi Fi & The Good Guys

The Good Guys Link

I bought this in February for $599 from JB.

Very happy with it, I bought the waste station as well and it is great. I think it would be annoying without the waste station.

The robot is handy for cleaning up throughout the week without doing a major vacuum.

  • Do you know if this will work if it is completely isolated from the internet? If not, do any of the robot vacuums? It's some info that I find is always missing from reviews.

My roborock s5 works without a connection.

    • Yes, you just don't get to use the scheduling, virtual walls, vacuum settings etc that are accessed through the app. https://www.ecovacs.com/uk/blog/wifi-for-robot-vacuum-cleane…

      • Thanks but it doesn't make a distinction between wifi and internet accessible from what I could see? I'd have it connected to wifi and have app installed that would directly connect to the vacuum? Yep, that technically means the vacuum is potentially indirectly connected to the internet. Trying to figure out which one to get for the parents who don't like the internet connected stuff.

The app does require internet. I tested and when I disconnect the internet but keep wifi on, the app can't find the vacuum.

But you don't need to have the vacuum connected to internet or wifi. Just take it out of the box and use it as a standard robot vacuum without connecting it to the app at all. When you run it, the vacuum will map out the entire floor via its lidar, then determine on its own that all accessible areas have been mopped before returning to recharge.

    • Yes it can still function without the internet, you just cannot set it to clean X zone or schedule it. You would hit go and it will just start going around the house. I found that when this happens though, it would do maybe 50% of the house before it needs to charge. Charges for a few hours and then starts up again. So it could take the entire day to do the house sometimes.

  • How do these cope with pet hair? I've considered getting one but afraid it will clog too easily with my dog's hair.

    • It treats it similar to human hair. It comes with a nice "hair cutter" tool under the cover which you just slide across the vacuum's dirt roller and it cuts the hair so that you can easily pull it out. The self-emptying docking station, if you choose to buy it does have challenges trying to suck out pet hair from inside the vacuum's dust container.

  • This or the t8 model?

    • T8 model supports the Ozmo Pro powered mopping accessory. If you want it to mop, it is worth getting the T8, but personally, I'd get the X1 Omni or Turbo on clearance instead. The X2 was announced, so you should see X1 going on sale.

Other difference is the battery size. I have the T8 and it can vacuum and mop continuously for 2 hours. The N8 I believe has a slightly lower capacity battery, but fine for apartments. I am in a house and it takes 1 hour to vacuum/mop the downstairs floor (wooden).

I got one of these and it does a good job collecting cat and dog hair. Mopping also does an okay job but still misses some parts. I would still recommend it at this price since I've got a lot of use out of mine.

    • Did you also get the docking station?

      • I agree with agate and yes I got the docking station. Without the docking station you would be emptying the dust bin all the time.

$100 cheaper at Godfreys, only $399 on clearance: https://www.godfreys.com.au/ecovacs-deebot-n8-pro-robot-vacu…

    • EDIT: OOS now at Godfreys

  • Are these OK for Hybrid flooring?
Also have mats in the rooms

    • Yes.

As long as the mats are are really fluffy rug, it'll be fine.

  • Can you run this with the mopping mode disabled? I'm only interested in the vacuum mode and don't want to waste money on disposable mopping pads.

I'd consider a vacuum only robot, but it seems that almost all of them do mopping these days.

Can you run this with the mopping mode disabled?

Yes it can. I run mine without the mop all the time.

  • so is this the same as the $399 Aldi Special EcoVac Deebot Neo https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-9-s…
