  • awesome glad I could help

    great machines

my folks got similar one from bout a decade ago, literally 0 issues. seals are still good too. similar experience from ppl online too

Yeah old LG good but new one not really, I get mine leak in just less than 1 year of use, the drum rubbing into detergent inlet rubber..

Its known problem LG just Ignore it.. The repairman just know it instantly, replace it and put some metal sticker.. This should be put in factory not when something already wrong….

My old LG last 8 years..

  • I think these LGs are the few (only?) that have hot water inlet, so if you have cheap hot water (off-peak, solar, whatever) you can use that.

Having said that, we don't use that feature much, since we have solar electricity and just run it during the day.

    • WV5 5 series (this one) and WV6 6 series are cold water only. I am disappointed that the WV9-1609W is discontinued. Have to go up to the WV9-1610W to get hot water input.

Just helped a friend and settled on the WV6-1609W as the jump in price to the hot water wasn't worth it (they are renting - no solar).

      • Description says "hot and cold" water inlets

I have a WV5-1409, it was 2 inlets but I don't think it uses the hot one on any of the washes 40C and under, maybe it uses hot inlet for 60C+?

@reactor-au: We also have one with hot water inlet, but I also don't think it uses it.

Would also like to add that LG laundry machines are really reliable and easily last 10 years. Our previous one did, and the current one is 7 years in.

        • I stand corrected. I always thought the 5 series was cold only. Very weird that 5 is hot and cold and 6 series is cold only.

  • Can someone confirm how long are the wash cycles?

    • Cotton 3 1/2 hour.

        lol no, dependent on weight,

i have the 8kg version for 2 years now

    • Anywhere from about 35m for delicates to 3.5hr for baby clothes cycle.
I typically use the blanket cycle for a cold wash, it's 1h33m. For warm wash 40C I use the cotton cycle which depends on weight, typically it's 2h20m for a load of towels or sheets.

  • So as an ozbargainer, do we buy even though we have one that works fine anyways!?

  • Thanks, ordered one to replace the '8kg' Bosch I've just returned as it was lucky to fit 4kg of clothes. Hope this one fares better! Have used LG for years with no issues.

  • Late , any deal now?
